I laughed, seeing you work after it got dark. My neighbor used to call me the midnight gardener. I love your "just do it" spirit. I'm a small woman, now an old small woman, but still garden and do projects like you do.
I also liked seeing the evening hours because I work in my garden until long after the landscaping lights come on and my family thinks I'm crazy. Lol😂

I’m a midnight gardener that looks like a break dancer. As I work on my hillside I have to do jumping jacks or leg kicks to get the motion light to come on. My neighbors always ask,”What were you doing last night?”
You did a great job on your yard. I was quoted $3000 to add a paver pathway in my backyard which required digging. You inspired me to do this myself. Thank you so much!

If you are willing to take more time, here is another way to do this. If you don't want to remove sod (very hard work!!!) is to mow at lowest setting. Then, cover with those big plastic bags. Do this in the autumn. Let sit over winter. In late spring, when you can work the soil, remove the bags and proceed as you did with the cardboard and mulch. Landscape fabric is yucky. The soil doesn't breathe and weeds grow thru anyway. Cardboard is great!
Nice job, little lady. A few suggestions. Mow the grass as low as possible before putting the cardboard down. That helps reduce grass and weeds growing thru. For mulch, the recommendation is to keep it 10" away. That keeps insects and moisture away from your foundation. You can put a row of pavers next to the foundation. That also makes it easier to get back there to wash windowns, too.

Only a very few here and there. The cardboard is definitely better at preventing weeds. The x-board works best when you layer 4 or more sheets to the space.
GREAT job and in the comments it was good advice for the distance between the foundation advice well taken but I have to say it gave me anxiety to see the cars go by as you had your back turned not only are you handy but TRULY BRAVE I just would have red cones around or something to get drivers attention to me working that close I just don't trust ppl attention span enough I'm a chicken truly
You did that!!! I am a Sistah in my 60s now who has always loved working in the yard. My late parents taught me so much about lawn and landscape projects. I am one of the few in my neighborhood who do my own lawn and landscape care. I love it. I retired from a long career as a Nurse Practitioner and always found working in the yard so relaxing and therapeutic! Great job Sis!

I'm a retired high school teacher and when I was still teaching, I found that the best stress reducer was weed pulling. I know it sounds weird, but I would just go into a zone and forget about everything but the dirt and the weeds.

This is great! Seeing someone do it rather than just a before and after photo makes me want to do it too instead of procrastinating 😂 I get stuck thinking of the back pain and the sweaty face.

To help eliminate some of the back pain and sweating try to do most of the work sitting down where possible...that is what I do, you can relax yourself at the same time.

Beautiful mulching project. I never thought to use cardboard to eliminate weeds-I used plastic trash bags. Next time I will use your idea 😅

Mulch glue is perfect to prevent the pea gravel & mulch from blowing away..these are GREAT IDEAS,,I will definitely be using alot of them,,tks again

Thank you for sharing. This is the 1st video I've watched on your channel . I have arthritis in my back & knees and needed some ideas that involved less digging to get rid of weeds and freshen my front yard.

Girl!!! U just saved yourself thousands of dollars from these expensive landscapes. The minimum price I’m getting for landscaping in GA is $2,000. I went to home depot yesterday and reacted a saw and my husband and I plus the kids started cutting trees. Now we have a family project to do which is landscaping. You have inspired me. Carolina, it looks so nice, your amazing, for your hose to add to your refresh, I replaced my hose roll up with a beautiful terracotta pot. I just roll up my hose in it and it is so attractive, adds a plus’s verses a negative! Beautiful job girl!!!

Also,We dug the holes for the plants like you did by the mailbox and just put pot and all in the hole.Then we just replaced the plant with another plant in the pot when we wanted to.😊

I know I commented yesterday, but I actually thought about your makeover all night, lol. When you were showing us your original plan I kept thinking "I wish I could stop her right there and tell her she's gonna be sorry she left that inlet of grass to be mowed and edged. She's just increased her detail upkeep immensely!" I was so relieved to see the finished plan did away with that grass space. You see, I have been in the process off doing a complete overhaul where I made that mistake! I loved it at first, but when I realized I had actually made work for myself, it suddenly lost its appeal 😅. You did a great job and you now have a faithful new subscriber ❤.
YAYY!! Thank you! While doing this project, I kept thinking of ways to make it easier to have a nice landscaped yard, while still being able to mow the lawn efficiently. Keeping the grass in that area would've been a HUGE mistake LOL!

I see you dug for those flowers. I ain't gone fault you lol. This is great inspiration for our yard. I'll have to get with my HOA to ensure I'm not breaking any rules, but I hate walking on the grass to go to the mailbox.
Your finished product (sweat equity paid off in a big way!) is amazing. The tools and design made it look so effortless but I know the major component was the love put into each project. You have a true gift - glad I came across your channel. One tip - to make the yard look tuxedo is edging around the concrete areas - that finishes the look and pulls it all together.

The first year of owning my home, I put in pathway lights along the walkway from our detached garage to the house. I punctured the water line that led to the garage. At least I know where that water line is now 😂
You definitely inspired me to expand upon my landscaping. I dream up all these flower beds and walk ways I want to build out and this gave me a lot of motivation to dive in and do it.
