I'm a Giants fan. Last stand for Jones. But don't act like he had much of anything throughout his career. Last chance I agree. I am Rooting for the young man. I'm Old School. I saw Simms do it. I believe Jones can do the same... Go Giants...

I don’t think a lot of fans that have such strong opinion on how to build a team ever played, it doesn’t matter what QB IT IS YOU STILL JAVE TO BUILD THE TEAM

      @mrwaglenn Před měsícem +1

Yeah you dont reach that much for a QB just for the sake of drafting a QB. Especially when you got arguably the best WR in the draft staring you in the face.

It’s funny how fast people forgot that 0-40 opening game against the cowboys. That was the healthiest our team was. He’s not as bad as a lot of people think he is but he’s certainly not good either. The 2022 offense was entirely Daboll building a basic offense that minimized DJs weaknesses. In 2023 Mara forced Daboll and Schoen to resign him and Daboll pretty much said “okay, if you want to pay him, I’ll take the training wheels off and you’ll see who he really is”. 2023 Daniel Jones is Daniel Jones. That’s just a fact. Every QB who played worse than him or at the same level is a backup minus Geno Smith, and tbh Geno Smith should be a backup as well. What has he done really? It’s been 5 years. Why are we still having the same conversation about DJ that we were having 5 years ago? I was a DJ supporter for 4 years but not any more. I hope I’m wrong and he ends up being in the top 10 but I’d bet almost anything that that will never happen. Time to move on next year.

Thank you. I’ve been saying the same thing They weren’t 110% on the trade up and the QB. So they did the next best thing ,they got the best players available. It doesn’t matter what QB we would have drafted we had 85 sacks last year. Geez be happy that we upgraded at a lot of positions

Give Jones a VR AI headset and practice play recognition several hours a day. Heard LSU use it and Jayden Daniels really liked it. Software form Cognilize from Germany.

I'm not rooting against DJ. He stepped up big time in 2022. 2023 was fraught with peril, and I saw it coming with an O-Line deep only in uncertainty, with expected results. So, DJ gets a huge Mulligan - his last one, though.
A seemingly more mature Drew Lock might actually be better suited to this receiver corp. Not knowing much about him at the time, Lock seemed a greater threat than Geno Smith versus Seattle. Certainly didn't seem like a step down, and I was relieved somewhat when Smith returned to the huddle.
Lock's performance in the final drive against the Eagles was near epic because that game mattered to both teams, and he stepped up. He's an easy guy to root for because, having been deprived of a starting role he now appears to understand the real value of having the opportunity to succeed in the NFL. It's a character thing. Thus, I don't think he's going to blow his next chance. Rather, I think Drew Lock will make the most of it and I am hoping it's in Giants uniform.
Among us QBs, I think Lock is probably better suited to stretch the field and make better use of this team's mid and deep range capabilities.
While not rooting against DJ - the Mulligan is real - I am more than curious to see what Drew Lock has to offer this season.

This team has an eerily similar feeling to me than the two Eli super bowl teams had. Everyone wanted Eli gone...they hated him, they didnt have any GREAT backs, great for us, but no one in the media believed they were great. They got Eli Plax, a good Oline and a great pass rush and if you can slip into the playoffs with a great Oline, a #1 WR, and a great passrush, in that cold weather....you can do some things. Elis Giants proved that. Im not divided. Its not the end of the world and the Giants, barring injuries, could possibly be a team to slip into the playoffs. I would have been okay with Maye or Nabers. I did not want McCarthy at 6 at all. If we went QB at all, for me, it was Maye or no one. I did not however want them to trade the future to get Maye. If he fell to 4 or maybe fell to 6 then I would have been okay with Maye. We just were not in a roster situation to give up much to trade up, and that makes sense. So, Nabers made the most sense. I have NO issue with their draft, I feel it was a solid good draft that will help. I like the Burns trade and I think they signed some good free agents. That defense is going to be sick once they gel. I tihnk the backfield is better. Barkley was overrated. I loved him, but he never even close lived up to the hype. Heck, Singletary runs harder and had a better YPC last year and I think he does for his career. I dont think the drop off in RB is that big at all. This team can compete this year. As far as D. Jones, we will see. If he fails this year early he will likely get pulled for financial reasons. If he begins to look elite with this new Oline and improved WR room, then heck, let him stick around. If not, move on. Right now though, this is our team, and its much better than last years team. ALOT better.

Hopefully we can get the details on who gave DJ that contract. Mara needs to confirm or deny his involvement. Bc people are hanging that on Schoen but he has a boss. And that boss was very fond of Daniel. So did Schoen have a real choice? Esp after the Minne game?

It felt like the Pats solicited offers for pick 3 to justify their own decision to take Maye at 3. Heard Vikings offered 3 1's and the Giants 2 1's and a 2 and 4. Pats were never going to trade 3 in my opinion.

Giants schedule is so tough they could easily be a 3 to 5 win team this year.
Art, you lose some weight? Or is it the goatee?
I like the off season so far. My count was they needed at least 13 positions of 22 to make the team good. That means back ups for them too. Then they lost Barkley and McKinney. Now 15. How many did they really fill? I would say they still need 1 or 2 more at safety after the draft and free agency signings. 2 to 3 more at corner. A run stuffing DT and a pass rushing DT. Maybe 1 or 2 more at edge. So about 5 positions on defense.
1 great QB. A great RT and RG. A great RB. Maybe a bit of depth in WR. All in all a bit better on offense.
Specials look better too but who is punting and who is kicking? The rest might be okay.
Like I said, they might have trouble winning more than 3 games. But the team is better. Just looks like they are 2 more off seasons from respectable.

He may not be as bad, but what we know is that Jones will never be good enough. The goal should always be an SB for every quarterback. Like you said, Jones is not a SB and it's not about hate. I would rather that Schoen and Daboll not settle for a QB.

It’s insanity to draft an interior Olineman because they invested in players who had some of the worst pass block grades in the NFL (the Giants are the only team to have multiple games of linemen having a 0.0 PB grade in a game) but having yet another DB start in the slot who has no NFL experience & isn’t a great tackler is a perfectly sane thing to do?

Describe Daniel Jones- “in the right scheme he can win a few games but he can’t consistently compete against top tier defenses or high end opposing QBs. He can manage the quick game but won’t have many explosive plays. One read or run, he can protect the ball but won’t score many points.” You’re describing a BACKUP NFL QUARTERBACK! Sure he “can play in this league” but as a backup.

I love how the Daniel Jones admirers pretend to be the adults in the room and fashion themselves as to be true supporters of Jones and the NYG. The man has had two neck injuries in three years, a torn ACL last year, and a whopping that would make David Carr blush. The kid is shell shocked. Even the owner admits the organization ruined him. Let him go. Let the man go somewhere where he can salvage his career like Mayfield. You are not the adult in the room where you insist on withdrawing blood from a stone.

You said it's not about Daniel it's about the team. I think the Daniel Jones supporters agree with that, because the team has been overmatched in most of Daniel's starts. Unfortunately for him the national media has been poisoning this fan base against him since the 2019 draft. The kid never really had a chance and I agree it's probably the end of the Daniel Jones era. Which did start with such promise in Tampa Bay.

It's taking me a while but I feel confident we're going to have a good year the schedule is better we are going to overachieve Daniel Jones will finally hit stride like the last two great quarterbacks we had it took Phil Simms 5 or 6 years play we were yelling he was a bust is it took Eli three or four years playoff losses play said he couldn't win the big game but they both hit a point where they could do it and they knew it I think he knows, confidence ,big improvement in the offensive line at the scheme offensively a true number one the defense is going to be top 10 they're going to lead the league in sacks I think they're going to have a good year I was bummed out and now I'm on it let's go Giants
