Just finished your things you love/don’t about Marella.
    Like
    1. Interesting point about the drinks- I did not realize that they had a greater than bare-bones selection. Very good to know.
    2. Regarding dining/tables.. imagine the same thing in one of your blog segments, and it really is interesting to us- specifically, the distance between some of the tables for two. I would not think this would bother us terribly because it gives one somebody to talk to if you want to. we can also choose to not talk to somebody and still feel isolated if we’re not in a chatty mood.
    3. Option to not have a cruise with kids. Enough said! 😅☺️ Awesome.
    4. Good to know they have decent entertainment 🙂
    5. Sounds like the “dress to impress“ evenings are similar to that of Celebrity. One thing that definitely stands out is something that Paul said- tailored shorts- are acceptable in the dining room for dinner. Not sure why someone would want to go to dinner in shorts but at least it gives different consumers a few choices... perhaps too many 🤔
    Not
    1. Very surprising that there is no loyalty program. perhaps not administering one helps them keep the costs down.

Super review I totally agree with you. When we have been on board they usually have a card saying welcome back so they do know you have been with them before so why they can not simply give you the invite to the cocktail party I do not know. We have only ever been to one and have not bothered going to any more as they are usually not convenient for us. They would do well to adopt some kind of loyalty programme but they are not listening to what customers want!

Thanks for great video. Very informative. We're going on our first Marella cruise next April, flying from the UK to Barbados, one week cruise followed by a week in Barbados. We normally cruise Royal Caribbean but loved the look of this TUI package as we have a friend in Barbados we're looking forward to spend some time with. We actually like TUI as a holiday company anyway. Hopefully post pandemic, as many things are changing, TUI will introduce a loyalty package to attract and keep customers like yourselves. YOU HEAR THAT TUI?! IF THERE'S NO LOYALTY WE'RE GOING BACK TO ROYAL!😀 Thanks again

I agree with everything you say in this video and have been asking Marella for years about a loyalty programme! The other thing I would say though is the food isn’t that great and any additional costs (not including the drinks package upgrade which is reasonable) are high eg speciality dining

Just come back from the Marella Explorer around the Canary islands for my husbands big birthday. We have done this cruise twice before on the old Marella Dream, which is now decomissioned. Agree that the Tui cruises are great on drinks, we had the all in for first two cruises, but went for Premium for this one, worth it as we spend a lot of time in Coffee Port, which is the Explorers coffee bar, the coffees here have a extra cost, unless you have premium, but we drink a lot of coffee, so was worth it. Also allowed my husband to choose his brand of whisky, but honestly, if you dont have Premium, it is still great value and great choice.
We have only been with Tui, because could not stand having to have a certain table, with same people at same time, each day. We never have had to wait for a table yet, and love choosing when to go to eat, just walk in from the bar next door. The entertainment is great, we love the shows, but particularly this time, the cinema, where we caught up with a few recent release films we would have paid a lot to see at cinemas locally.
Not too bothered about a loyalty scheme, to be honest, as Tui cruises are quite reasonably priced compared to many others. Yes, it is nice to have freedom over how to dress, but we did find on the Explorer (compared to the defunct Dream) that some people flauted the dress code. Saw many men, in particular, who let their ladies down, they were nicely dressed and blokes in scruffy shorts and sleeveless tee shirts, ie. vests, not a great look for other diners, did they not bother to pack any trousers or anything at all with sleeves? I especially thought this was awful on Dress up nights, when most people were looking really nice. I guess the staff are reluctant to enforce the code.

Thanks for a really informative video, especially about the Dress to Impress nights. The info about the drinks packages was also great. I would love to know how they handle your transfer home. Thanks Andrew glad you found it useful. On our last cruise those with a evening flight stayed on the ship until the afternoon and just used the facilities as normal. They had to be out of their cabins by 11 though. When we flew back from Dubai we left our cases outside our cabin and the next time we saw them was at the airport, it was very well organised. Where are you cruising too?

    • @aw020156
      @aw020156 Před 4 lety +1

Staying on the ship until the afternoon is a great differentiator from the bigger ships. We are in the Caribbean next month on Marella Explorer 2 (Formerly Celebrity Century which we have been on before and liked its layout and size). Moving to TUI after Princess, P&O and Celebrity will be an interesting change and a welcome return to a smaller ship.

    Hi Paul and Carole!
We've cruised a couple times with Marella and thoroughly agree with your 5 things you like about them.
Just to say I think the fact you say you'll defo cruise with them again may be why they dont feel the need to have a loyalty programme. May be you shot your argument in the foot there!
I guess it's also a cost, admin etc, that would may be add to their overall cost, although guess that's minimal.
I always think that if the product is good enough that you'll go back anywho, then why would they!
I think we both love the cruise line and it's relaxed approach, and sounds like we will both be going back 😊
Thanks for the tip 're the table selection, had no idea about that and it's good to know. We don't mind people next to us but some times you just want a bit of space. Thanks for that 👍👍

@@lisaadams1134 Hi Lisa, You are not allowed to take an iron on as it is a fire risk, you can get clothes pressed if needed but it does cost. Pool towels are included so you don't need to take those. Regarding light in the cabin, not found this an issue. If you wanted a dim light you could put the bathroom light on and leave the door slightly open, also there is a web cam usually on the TV looking over the bow of the ship, so you could leave that on and then light would come up with the sun. Regarding accessories - these are what we take - www.amazon.co.uk/shop/paulandcarole depending on the type of trip we are taking. However Marella have great entertainment on smaller ships, food is good and the staff are we think the best at sea. Walk the whole ship when you get on. Check the colour of the carpet closest to the staires/lift near your cabin. Even though they're not the biggest ships its still easy to get lost.

I had been thinking of booking a P & 0 cruise but now I’ve stumbled across this video I think I may be booking with Tui on the Marella Voyager which I believe is a brand new ship ? My daughter is studying at at a performing arts college in London as she is training to be a professional performer/dancer…your glowing reviews of the Marella shows would be great for her and my wife to watch as they both adore high quality shows. @@KH-yz8rq 1900’s lol, trust me it’s only within the last ten years at most that standards have dropped, there is nothing wrong with having standards and dress etiquettes, it’s not fancy dress or theme nights, friends and family in their 30s who have cruised often with us over the past few years have enjoyed the standards that used to be on the ships and they all agree there is a lack of it now, some people just don’t have any standards. Like I said, some just like to slum it from morning until bedtime.

@@louisemorgan8657 people are on holiday though and want to relax and be comfortable - you wouldn’t expect anyone to wear formal clothes in a hotel they’ve booked for their holiday. I have to wear a suit to work most days for work, why on earth do I want to have to wear a suit and tie whilst I’m on holiday?
I’m genuinely baffled as to why anyone would take an issue with people being able to dress comfortably on their own holiday that they paid for. It’s an all inclusive cruise not a charity gala. I can only assume it’s those who don’t have any opportunity to dress formally in everyday life so use this as some type of fantasy of being on a cruise ship in 1910 and play dress-up - that’s one sign of main character syndrome. Also it’s important to note no one is stopping anyone else dressing formally - so if you choose to and are happy, why do you care about what other people wear.

When's the refuelling bunker finally got to us they put the health and safety with them flotation mats around the refuelling ship but there was no fire Marshals up on the top Deck stopping people looking over while they were smoking shame on TUI never again
