    I show you exactly what soil mix I have used time and time again. And for those who have already seen my previous years of potted roses, you will know they are a huge success every year - producing abundant blooms and great health.

    Great video, D! Looks very professional. 😜 'Grace' is definitely a variety I'd love to add to my collection! Absolutely loves her petal shape! 😍 Can't wait for more updates on your garden throughout the growing season. Keeps me entertained whilest my roses here in South Africa is winding down for winter.

    Hi Darren, nicely done💪🙌🙌🙌...i have to admit my Austins in Potts perform much better than in the Flowerbed in High Summer, sadly our Summers have turned very Hot and dry so the pottet once get the advantage of Daily watering and don't have to fight the sandy soil we have here...i got about 11 Austins in Potts, Minimum of 50cm high and they seem to like it...my newest Arrival is "Rosemoore" and i can't wait to see it bloom...have a lovely Sunday....Take Care... Good informative video, I dont really tend to mix compost types for containers just putting one type of compost per pot, so I hope my container plants will still do well. Also I feed in the spring with Miracle Gro solution.

    Hi Darren! Lovely video as always! ❤️ I'm curious, in the first year would you recommend putting another plant in the pot (maybe a small trailing annual) while the rose is still small to add interest? Or is this a no no? 🤔

    I now have a potted David Austin Alnwick rose. I'm so in love. I want to be good to her. I'll try the tomato feed. I gave her a good feed when I potted her this spring and beginning of July, got it. I'm very concerned about the winter. I'm debating if I should wrap her in newspaper and huddle up all my larger pots around her up close to the building or see if I can get it inside.

    Aww thanks so much. Thisnis really so very helpful. You are a master. I think that I killed my potted rose by adding slow release nitrogen. How often should one feed a potted rose? What is a tomato feed? 8 so adore your garden especially the Bay Leaf green painted bench, arch and garden shed. Beautifu Darren xx

    Beautiful gardens, so beautiful.
    Thankyou for your secret rose soil mix with the regular 🍅 fertiliser.
    I myself have just nowl potted and put in ground my first roses. I had no idea in soil. Im in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and rang up a nursery and they delivered a premium potting mix to my front lawn and a 5 star soil with cow Manure. I have put about half of each. I am worried it might be too heavy with the 50 of the 5 star soil. But i couldn't reason my way out of using it that way for needed nutrition. I just hope the roots dont become water logged at some stage.
    Ive planted 9 bare roots 9 days ago.
    I have anothet 12 bare roots coming in mid August, of which will be potted for my observationon on performance. Our Spring begins ist September.
    I will follow what you have done with the tomato feeder.
    Can you tell me at what stage with the bare roots would I begin the first feed? Thankyou.

    I have a question that really stop me from potting a rose or any plant. I'm planning to travel this summer a long holiday for one month and 10 days. Does that will affect the potted rose ? I always imagine that they will dry completely out and die

    Hi Darren - Just a quick question: Why did you plant this rose in a pot with the bud union 2-inches below the soil level? Isn't that to low? Won't it cause rot? (PB from the USA).

    • @darren-harwood
      @darren-harwood  Před rokem +1

      Hello! It’s a practise very well known - it prevents wind rock. And it doesn’t rot, in fact, it encourages more root growth :)
