    I am a DV survivor and a country music fan. When I first heard this, I was stunned. I just sat in my chair unable to say a single word. Then my PTSD nightmares and flashbacks started again. I ended up watching this over and over to "desensitize" myself to it. Now I can watch it from not only a personal perspective but also as a Trauma Counselor. I have been surprised that so many people don't know what a 12 is, what whiskey scars are, what wait in the truck means or what a judge under the seat is....maybe that just comes down to where you grew up. I knew those before I married an abusive man. In this song, he probably saved her life. If he hooked up with someone else, he would abuse her also...abusers rarely change. Those that say "Why doesn't she just leave?" have chosen to be deliberately ignorant on DV. My heart aches for those who were killed and those who haven't been able to find a way to escape yet. As a country music fan, I've heard some amazing songs but this one is in a category all by itself. Thank you for doing this reaction...hopefully you'll continue to react to other impactful sings. Sending warm regards from Kentucky.

Some are heavy, some are funny, some are sad, some are just good ole party anthems to jam out to on the boat or in the back yard bbqin with your friends. A lot of country artists are great writers or sing songs that great writers write! Hardy is both. He started out as a writer and is now singing. • @lylelookingbill6606
    @lylelookingbill6606 Před 6 měsíci +2

    In country boy vernacular "Wait in the truck" translates as "I need to handle something and I don't want you to see it being done."
    Sometimes real men must unleash the monster inside us, we must be meaner than evil. We don't want you to see that side of us, we don't want you to fear that side of us so we tell you to ''wait in the truck"
    As she is on the stand testifying she says "I don't know if he's an angel because angels don't do what he did" I would submit that he was both a guardian as well as an avenging angel.
    When the system, when society fails to protect those weakest among us it is left to rough men standing outside the rule of law to do what is necessary to preserve the peace, protect the innocent, and return civility. Some call this "vigilante justice" but for some the vigilante is the only hope to obtain justice.
    Here is what I saw in the video: A drifter, a loner, a ex'con (Based on the prison tats) finds a gal who has been beaten, he knows the signs he's seen them in the past in a woman he holds dear. He makes the decision to help her, the only help he knows is violence. He has been to prison and knows he can do the time. He makes the choice to remove her from her prison, a prison of abuse and pain, he frees her.

    Love the reaction. I haven't watched all the videos yet, but you mentioned you haven't done a lot of country. And there are a lot of country songs out there that are storytelling songs like this that will blow you away. Martina McBride for example - 'Concrete Angel', 'Independence Day' and 'Broken Wing' all deal with some difficult topics and her voice is beyond amazing. Reba sings 'She Thinks His Name Was John' and I really think you would like the song/videos to 'Fancy' and 'The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia'. Kenny Rogers 'The Gambler' and especially 'Coward Of The County'. Love watching people react to Kenny's 'Coward Of The County'.
    And I'll also throw out "Whiskey Lullaby" by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss as a suggestion and say you will need the official video on that one as well, because like this, it's more of a mini movie that just makes the song all the more amazing.
    This song here is just incredible. The line, "...I never thought my day of justice would come from a Judge under a seat..." There is a gun actually called a Judge, which I didn't know the first time I heard the song. My dad actually caught that little nugget and explained it to me, so it's a pretty clever play on words.

    A mans honor is what he is. He knew he couldn't walk away and leave her to more torment and possible death. He told her to "wait in the truck" because it was in his hands now. This is choice, his sacrifice, his consequence and he wanted her to have no part of that. He made that choice with his honor intact, he was sentenced with his honor intact, he is doing his time with his honor intact. He released her from her prison, her hell and he is at peace with that. And if you read the bible you know that Angels, even Jesus and God himself will raise their hands to protect "us". Great song. Great topic for discussion. For instance, would anyone's opinion on this man killing another man change if this woman were a child?

    Country music is 3 chords and the truth partner! No man should ever put his hands on a woman, or beat on their kids or animals! Any man that could do that, isn't a man, and gets EXACTLY what he deserves. Love your reactions, keep up the great work y'all!😉

    So HARDY is a writer turned singer and his solo stuff is fantastic. As for the video. I want to say the best line for me is "I sat on the porch smoking one of his cigarettes, waiting for the cops to come." Like that is 100% real man stuff right there.

    He waited for the cops to come. He didn't run or hide. Please, when freed of a situation like this, do not get back in another! I've watched my best friend from childhood get into these relationships over and over. It always ends the same. She is beaten. Pray she gets help to change so she never again gets abused again. I stepped in once while she was being hurt. He went to the hospital, and then she married him. It did not end well.
