I couldn't wait to shoot some rolls of film in my home town of Wonder Lake. I visit at least once per year around the 4th of July, and it's usually a much-needed break from creating content. But now that I've gotten into film photography with this channel, I couldn't resist running a few rolls of cheap Wal-Mart Fuji 400 through this Canon AF35ML - a camera I snagged on FB Marketplace.
I didn't want to run better film through the camera since this was the first time I've shot with it. Fortunately the photos turned out pretty well, although there's something in the top left and bottom left of frame (the aperture blades not retracting fully?). Not a huge deal but definitely something I want to try to fix.
When I edited these photos I wanted the photos to feel like my memories of home, so I opted to warm things up a bit more than I usually would and to really crush the blacks in favor of slightly lifted shadows. I'm really happy with how the images turned out, and there's one shot of my daughter (not in the video) that I got in very low light at sunset that I just absolutely love. I think the camera opened up to f/1.9 in the low light, and the photo looks amazing.
I have the Sure Shot that preceded this one as well as the one that came after it, so I can't wait to share the photos I get with those cameras as well. If you have any questions about this camera, drop them in the comments.

This video made Wonder Lake look interesting. Also a nice advertisement for Uncle Steve's.

Haha - it gets real interesting when you haven’t lived there for a long time. 😋 And it’s especially interesting at 5:45 am when the sun is rising. Should have snagged a portrait of Uncle Steve. 📸

As always, I really enjoyed this video. Reminds me a lot of Lake Geneva in Melrose, FL. My favorite shot is the house at 12:02.

Speaking of Lake Geneva... One of my next videos will be a roll of Fuji 400 I shot at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. And yeah, that house at 12:02 is really cool. There are a few Mid-Century homes around the lake that are really cool. Appreciate you watching and commenting as always!

There’s an error in one of my titles: The first shot of the camera says “ALSO KNOWN AS A35ML” - not only is the model name wrong, but this title should say “ALSO KNOWN AS THE SUPER SURE SHOT” 🤦‍♂️
I can't wait to run some better film stocks through this camera now that I know it's working fine. I need to adjust something to get rid of those little black pieces that are in frame as well. I did have about half a dozen shots where the camera just couldn't get focus - I think I selected a very low contrast area when I was trying to get focus so the photos of a rainbow over the lake ended up blurry. Probably gonna run some Kodak Gold 200 or Ektar 100 through this one next.
