Like, instead of fighting the soviets, they could have taken Egypt, or at least held Libya, they could have invaded Yugoslavia, Greece, Malta, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Palestine/Israel, Corsica, Algeria, or even reinforce their Ethiopian front but noooooo. They want to fight the ruskies and reorganize their divisions 8,000 times.
I thought the exact same thing almost every game xD But recently i tried out "Expert AI 2.0 Mod" and oh my god Italy goes completly crazy Oo not only did it hold it´s African holdings but took out Yugoslavia before any filthy Democrats could Guarantee it. Then when the war properly started stomped over France before i could fight my way trough the lowcountrys, navalinvaded Britain in 41 and won the War with 65% War contribution. I recommend that Mod to everyone who´s upset with the Difficulty of HOI4 in SP not only does the AI make better tactical decisions (in most cases) but it also handles it´s Divisions better and keeps them equipped.
And this is happening because the italian ai is too retarded not to take control of gibraltar and sinai, blocking the british reinforcements. After that just secure cyprus and malta and the mediterranean is completely safe. But they insist on doing nothing, so britain and later usa are just spamming the naval invasions until they kill everyone else...

I do it to emulate reality. I know it's not efficient in game sense. At this point in my play through the game was just way too easy for me, even in veteran. I even installed a weather mod to fuck up my troops, increased Soviet factory amount by ridiculous amounts, and even nerfed Italy and Germany by tons. Ps. When I made this video at 5am in the morning I used the wrong setting to record with Fraps so the video looks a bit shit. Sorry. Have a good day everyone. Cya

Have mods that make terrain more effective and Nerf all production to make realistic as possible(Nerf Italy big) . Play historically accurate as possible. And No bogus exploits. I Still carry out Barbarossa with relative ease. Sometimes I get my units surrounded on purpose, then do my little mini game called "Berlin defender." I gotta say, the game is not ready atm, needs a lot more work

Don't worry bruh. Just go in the division template and put in 4 motorized and 6 medium tank battalions, spam them out, draw a line, point an arrow, and go.

terrain in HOI IV is not as big a deal as in other games. neither is anything really, there is nothing stopping you from winning a veteran ironman campaign by just drawing lines and clicking go
true, in Darkest Hour I would have a hard time even with regular infantry in getting pass mountain areas, here even if I use mobile battalions it just takes slightly longer than infantry as long as there's firepower in the division set-up, not saying terrain is negligible, but when I came across mountain chains in DH I would go "nope"

I hate NATO "counters" or symbols, I just can't live with them, I understand them, but I feel weird playing with them, I learned to play this game with the default symbols and now It feels weird to play with the NATO ones
It's strange because I began using normal symbols and didn't see a problem with then, but I cut back the 3d models and started using the nato symbols to improve performance and after using them for some games, I just find them so much more elegant looking than the symbols, especially the default light tank one is so ugly.
What? NATO counters impractical? They are literally the most practical, you can easily and precisely identify the division type with a short glance. They may seem to not be only if you haven't memorized them. The design symbols are sometimes hard to see, especially when it's same category (ex. discern between armor types).
According to the German "Blitzkrieg" doctrine, the tanks should _not_ go first. The regular infantry probes for weak points and creates a breach, _then_ the tanks followed by motorised elements (such as mechanised infantry) go in.

As a fairly new player I think this is the reason I keep getting murdered. I didn't have any offensive divisions trying to encircle. I just loaded the front line made some offensive orders and hoped for the best. Real noobish like.

Well he built a lot of tanks and has only 70 infantry divisions, so he probably has only around 10 factories on inf equipment, and maybe 3 lines on medium tanks

I ussually go with 8 40 width medium tank , motorized\mechanized and medium tank sp artilery and 16 20 width light tank , moto\mecha and light tank sp artilery per general for my pushing force. They can push trough everything. I broke maginot with 3 divisions , 1 medium , 2 light reinforcing from sides.
God damn it I hate it when people put like 2 divisions into an entire army and send 3 arrows forward. I usually just have like 50 Divisions in an army with IDK like Katyushas, Tanks, and Infantry. Then have a line of Light Tanks in a Spear Head aimed at a capital or major city. I am probably dumb and using it wrong but I will win god damned it.

Hearts of iron 4 is more childish , for serious players heart of iron 3 with black ice mod is still much better. i only like planning mechanic (hearts of iron 3 if you make battle plan and let ai you will lose !) and equipment mechanic with this storage equipment is decent i like it but everything else is more childish !

hadva2 Russia is full of marshes in autumn and spring that was one of the first problems in operation barbarossa

@Cyka Blyat 20 and 40 width are basically the same. There are actually several advantages to 20 width such as the ability to micro your troops more.

i am also new but i drag 1 or 2 tanks to encircle little pockets so i see the breaches in theor frontlines then i put some tanks and then kill them
