An often invisible, or at the least poorly visible asset for IT, that opens up a whole new attack vector for those with bad intentions. No longer are we exposing a small attack surface that was relatively easily guarded with focusing on known bad transactions, but we are now exposing all aspects of an application through it’s business logic, allowing hackers to find new ways to exploit an app, not by breaking it, but by using it in a way the developer never intended it to be used.
During the session, Martijn will give a few examples of how API attacks work, and why those attacks escape the visibility of current cybersecurity tooling and what to actually do about it.
