- In today's video, my challenge is to guess the famous landmark while looking the other direction. This will test both my Geoguessr and geographical knowledge, as I'll have to work out both the country and what the famous place is likely to be.

The fact that you had the Burj Khalifa on your screen when you were looking, saying “I can’t see it” was soooo painful.

I read this before it happened and was surprised to see that this is a massive understatement. He zoomed DIRECTLY into the Burj Khalifa SEVERAL TIMES with his cursor DIRECTLY on top of it.

@@zi8gzagNo worries, man. You're not alone. For some reason Burj Khalifa is really difficult to locate if you can't remember exactly where it is.

33:26 Jaipur is actually called the ‘pink city’ because all of the buildings have the slightly pink ish color so as an Indian, I knew the city right away and I might have gotten the 5K probably which is pretty cool!
-contrastingly, Jodhpur is called the Blue city because of blue buildings

Although, they aren't all famous - limited choices in some countries, even when including some unofficial coverage. one thing that strikes me is how quickly you asses not just cardinal direction but time of day and based on that cardinal direction, just based on sunlight. I feel like this is way underdiscussed in all these types of "thought process" videos

I consider myself mediocre at geoguessr, but the Rio de janeiro round HURT right when the picture popped up, i was like RIO the famous dude with his arms out, i think the altitude and the vegetation was, what really made it easy.

As a German, I immediately realised it was Berlin, but to be fair the Brandenburg Gate and the whole district are modelled after Paris, since the late 18th century/early 19th century Prussian kings were big fans of French culture and felt Berlin had to look more majestic for Prussia to be able to compete with the other big powers and their Viennas, Parises and Londons. On that note, it's also funny that you would mention Bucharest, which of course also took after Paris and is sometimes called "Paris of the East".

ngl some of the most fun I've had playing this game has been the Famous Places map on No Moving. I've also been trying NMPZ on it as well. I know it's mostly just memorizing the locations but it is still very fun to see all these places I've never seen before.

The star wars set in Tunisia is a crazy one for me. I was there more than 10 years ago and I immediately recognised it even if it's not such a famous location. I think the salt in the sand which makes it have these white areas mixed with more yellow ones is pretty unique to that part of Sahara. It's this area that's famous for mirages because from the distance it looks like water in evenings because of how the salt reflects the sun. I might be talking out of my butt and it could be super common in desserts.

Weird that the Vegas landmark was just 90 degrees off, instead of behind you. Up to that point, you could use the compass to orient yourself relative to the landmark.
If it makes you feel any better, I have been in that exact parking lot and taken a photo near the Golden Gate Bridge and I still didn’t get it.

All people have rather similar (similarly bad) peripheral vision - unless someone has an actual defect, like „tubular vision”. Those who can scan well know had bad our peripheral vision is, and purposefully move their point of fixation around the scan area. Those who are bad at it, simply assume that they’ve seen everything on their screen already, while in fact they only saw the centre properly.
