Richie surviving a heart attack while playing Painkiller's solo is the ultimate most metal af thing
It wasn't a heart attack, it was an aortic dissection. Or, an aneurysm leaking in the aortic arch above the heart. Very serious shit.
This was 6 days before his heart attack.
@@adamrspears1981is he okay?
@@LinkySlinky he's never been ok
Probs to the actual legend Glen Tipton who wrote this solo and played it for decades, if his medical condition didn't compromise his playing he would be shredding but none the less this guy does a great job
Yeah we've seen Glenn nail it live for decades now. It's just impressive cuz this dudes blood is spilling into his chest cavity
If someone was to take over the role its this guy
Glenn Tipton was the main thing that made Judas Priest what they became. Kk Downing was definitely a great background guitar player! I miss the old Judas Priest days. But hey, it’s not called evolution for a reason! Still a great band
I hate people who say “props”
Priest chose the right guy amen ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
When you finish the entire solo with a burst main artery by the heart, then you are a true *METAL GOD!*
Cuando eres un profesional y talentoso Pero tienes a Dios de tu lado 👑
This should be enough to solidify this man's worth. His heart is actually exploding over here, and he still nails that solo. Sure, he may be "the new guy," but he's a certified metal legend for this moment right here.
I have never seen the scars form surgery seems suspicious for a career boost....
The man was minutes away from possibly dying here, and he still nails it. I love Tipton and his fabulous solos, but Richie also fits the band like a leather studded glove. His youth has injected the band with a second life, and they are still churning out stellar songs.
Poor Richie, so glad he got away with worse, he's a nice, down to earth guy, and of course amazing guitarist
Ritchie breathed new life into the band!
No he didn't lol everything Priest has put out since KK left is cookie cutter AF.
Priest is my favorite band ever and when I watched Deep Frickin Purple bow them out of the water war back in 2018 i swore off any more Priest shows. Halford's prerecorded screams and pitch shifters, Faulkner sounding like the Zak Wylde wannabe he is, Sneap with the energy and stage presence of a soggy cardboard box... the only thing still consistent with the band is Ian's signature oil rig move.
@@AmericanNationalist852
Yeah he did and if you don’t think so you are an imbecile. Richie is one of the best shredders on the planet, foo……
And nearly died doing it.
@@AmericanNationalist852
yes he did.
@@wildcalcats no he didn't.
This current iteration of Priest sucks ass.
╚╬╝
Amazing that he could do this in pain. 😮
What do you mean?
@@cristianalzamorafloreano5223 he had a heart aneurysm right after this solo, probably was in pain during, but you know, the show must go on...
This is not the solo right before his aneurysm.
WoW
@@juriseptember4250how do you know? which clip?
Richie is legit, a legend.
No one plays it like Glen. Painkiller was a force to be reckoned with. Priest really brought it on that album.
He is the true Pain Killer 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Yes he is! and now he is made of metal and his circuits gleam. 🤘🤘
Creo que no.....kk y Glen is pain killer
I see what you did there.
So averagr..wtf
Not even close
Seriously one of the best improvised solos EVER!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Oh man, he can still play that guitar 40 years later. Wow, Awsome. 🤘🤘 painkiller still sounds as good today as it was almost 40 years ago. 🤘🤘
His signature V's are so sick I want one so bad!! 🤘
I was to your right. He fucking SHREDS!
Good to see he has recovered well. Thank you Jesus. 🙏☝️💯🎸
Wait what happened to him?
@@MetalFan3000-i7w Arterial aneurysim.
@@MetalFan3000-i7w
Complete aortic dissection
@@wildcalcats Wow, thank God he's better now
@@MetalFan3000-i7w
Indeed. Almost miraculous. They say he was just in the right place at the right time. The show was in Louisville and the best surgeons in the world for the type of surgery he needed were only minutes away at Louisville Hospital. He underwent 11 hours of surgery and came through with flying colors. I just saw him live in Evansville this past Friday night with Judas Priest and he was fantastic as always. One of my fave shredders and one of the very best!
Glenn is one and only🤘
Pain killer... one of my favorites... I have been playing this album since it came out in 1990
Es una caña el painkiller 😅 maravilloso es genial 😮
Glenn...eres tan bueno que todavía no logran igualarte👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Glenn,.. He's The Craftmanship, more taste, more feeling,.. Glenn..The One and Only
What a great pleasure to have this class of player ❤❤❤😮
Such a fucking bad ass song
I was so lucky to see this done by Glen just before he stepped away from touring.
Saw Richie do it years later while Andy held down the rhythm.
So very glad that Richie is okay. Also, much love to Glen always.
The ultimate professional. And I need that blue V.
Brilliant guitarist
Richie is a beast.
That guitar is beautiful.
Amazing …i think his mustache is giving him super heavy metal powers 🤘🏼
Holy shit. I didnt think he'd really be able to get it so close to the studio
Glad he made it back to health!
This has to be one the most Metal things in Metal history…..that too during a song called PAIN KILLER! Lethal!!
Excellent live version of the legendary Glenn Tipton Painkiller solo.....but I prefer the original and there's something about Glenn's playing that's so unique and awesome.
True
I agree, but the point of the video is to show you how he plays that solo from hell while his aorta is bursting.
Youre right, but richie bring something new, something fresh to priest. I want to see all them together- glen, kk, and richie, like on rnr hall of fame, that will be amazing
You shouldn't compare a studio version with a live version. They can be very different. In studio you have different takes and you choose the best. On stage, you only have one chance to play it right.
@@toniomiklo2406very true.
Iron Maiden’s Prowler is a good example. Every live solo is different and some of the later versions I just turn off. The solo, harmonies and drumming on the first Iron Maiden album isn’t really replicated well by the replacement members. I do prefer Clive to Nicko but Dennis vs Adrian vs Janick is an interesting idea to throw around. I’d say maybe Dennis then Adrian. Janick is ok, people give him a bit of hell on the internet, buts it’s been like 30 years. People gotta move on.
You're amazing!!! Rock on. Chicago loves you keep coming back please!!! 🥰🤪
No!! ...He is the... Metal Hero !!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love the way this guy rocks,!
Richie Faulkner is a BEAST! Enough said!
Bravo único 🤘💪🎸😎🌿
I love it, but with Glen’s absence and condition, it breaks my freaking heart! I grew the same to all the metal bands, especially Savath, but Glen was always my favourite and it tears me to pieces to pieces!!!!!!!
I was there .. Already loved the guy anyway .. But after everything unfolded the way that it did that night in Louisville Kentucky, I am a forever fan .. 🤘🤘🤘
Probabilmente il miglior performer nel metal per attitudine e tecnica oggi ... grandissimo Ritchie
Love Richies version of Glenns solo, This guy is a freaking animal on that axe
Best solo of all time in my opinion
One of the best, that’s for sure and he does Tipton justice doing this solo almost identical to the way it was written and originally played. Richie’s a legend in his own right. Just saw them for the 3rd time in the last 24 months this past Friday night and he as well as the entire band slayed as usual!🤘🏻🤘🏻
Right at the end you can see it in his face when he realizes somethings very wrong. I’m so happy he made it through and that I was there to see this performance
Amazing performance, Richie! 🤘
Richie is a modern day Rhandy Rhodes
I was there and we really didn't notice other than they ended early ofcoarse, they return this year again to the same stage I can't wait
Of all the reasons I’ve had to miss a concert this was definitely the most understandable. Wish they could’ve moved it like the rest of the shows.
Dude your absolutely one of the most amazing musicians out there & I'm so jealous of your dedication to your years of training but PLEASE shave the moustache. I love the harmonic sequels your getting 👍👍👍👍
Besides KK and Tripton, he is Priest's next main guitarist.
Чудове соло! 🤘
What a man
Judas Priest - my metal gods! ❤❤❤
Richie is da man! He plays it with such ease.
😂
And it's crazy to think I really saw them the day before in St Louis Missouri but what was crazy is is the previous times I saw them with Faulkner is that I noticed he was moving a lot slower around on stage then he was normally doing
I was in St Louis for that show too! It was definitely a shock when I heard about this the next day.
Painkiller Rob Halford lived close to where I grew up A lot of good rock stars came out of the Midlands Birmingham England
Tipton it was more fucked up...Tipton..Tipton..Tipton🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
damn, im not sure if i would be able to play it this well in top shape and he did it while having a heart attack, Ritchie Faulkner is amazing
unrelated to the video but, i just listened to "love someone" by you and it's AWESOME, i love how dynamic your voice is in it!
how the actual fuck did my comment on a chris liepe video get posted here
I always found it funny when guitarists open their mouths like that while playing a solo. It's like those solos are coming out of their mouths.
Virtuoso de la guitarra 🎸🎸🎸😮es maravilloso un alago a la música 🎵🎼😅
Awsome guitar playing
One of the best guitarists!
The solo that almost killed him!😮 It's true, his heart failed after this solo. A great untold rock story
Loving Nita's goatee
I was there. Crazy, everyone was like where’s Richie? Why didn’t they do breaking the law? Etc. soon found out he was rushed to hospital down road. First time ever I saw a band out play Metallica. Set list was incredible
Long live judas priest
Definition of Heavy Metal. He just sliths your throat every time.
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Still love KK
Richie is fantastic!
In his defense learning this solo gave me grand mal seizures.
That was awesome 👏
Wow 🤩 Just plays with such intense passion! ❤️🌙⭐🌞🙃🥰
Richie is a beast from another dimension
the trve metal god
Metal Yeah 🤘🤘🤘🤘😎😎😎😎😎🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Love what Ritchie does !!~
Bad to the bone Bro 🥶🎸🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
Думаю, самое лучшее соло в мире!
Toca muy bien, eso si feeling de la canción bajito
I saw him (them) in Detroit just before this happened. Crazy.
This solo is Awesome
that last drum fill mustve hit hard for him, just waitin for the end
Just scrolling on shorts then this popped up and in the first note my pain was killed or murdered or slaughtered and now I'm gonna be tucked into a full judas concert for he next 2 hours lol
He is not human
damn what a solo made 60 years ago damn
Screaming forever...❤️❤️❤️🎁
Richie красавчик! Отлично отыграл. Роб тоже силён, даже в своём возрасте спеть Painkiller на таком уровне. Уважение. Сильно!
Monster .
Where is the rhythm guitar part that KK Downing always performed so well to back up that great guitar solo done by Glen Tipton? This is what happens when you bring in people who cannot co-ordinate and play at the level of KK Downing and Glen Tipton. A lot of fans would say this is a sad case.
It does sound a little like a solo cover and a drum machine. Something is missing.
@@freakazoid4691 that’s because this is a phone recording from the lead guitar side of the stage lol everyone can hear the full song but the phone mic isn’t picking it all up
As good as he is, its hard to top the original.
God bless richie the next up and comming heavy metal god love his custom v 🙏 🙌 ❤ 😊
This is about as close as any can get to playing Glenn’s. Great job; yet a little sad at the same time.
And chewing gum while he blistered this from ‘91 until he had to stop
God: "Okay, I'mma gonna try and kill you.... But after this Solo, because it slaps too hard"
Gloriosooo!!!! Pain killer ass! Master!!
I was at this show. No one had any idea what happened.
