That's not actually a raccoon, but a tanuki, belongig to the canidae fanily. It's also known as "raccoon dog" because normally the marks resemble those of a raccoon.

Being an albino raccoon dog it would have a hard time surviving. He is lucky some hunter didn't kill him for his rare fluffy white coat. He is a beautiful rare animal.

This isn't a raccoon though, this is a tanuki. Raccoon DOG. Look a lot alike but not actually even close to being the same animal. It's also not albino, because albino lacks ALL melanin, so it wouldn't have a black nose and blue eyes if it was albino.
not all albino animals have to have pink noses this one can be mostly albino but not all

Not a raccoon. You can tell by the ears, paws and noises that it's a raccoon dog, also called a tanuki.

Thats a totally inappropriate place for a wild animal to live. I trust you put it in an outdoor large area with plenty of trees etc not an indoor cement kennel with painted walls....
raccoons/raccoon dogs do not need trees to have good quality of life. You're right about ample room to roam and play, though. They can live long, happy lives as pets the same way a dog or a cat could. They are not that high maintenance

Mike Rodger it’s mum probably hid it to protect it since it was different but most mother raccoons die a couple months after giving birth so she want able to hide him forever and when he got set free he was in danger

I know a lot of people in the comments are saying it's cute and it's ok that they 'rescued' this FERRAL animal from it's territory, but come on people! This video deserves a dislike. They captured a very wild animal from it's home, It's territory, just to put it up for display in a VERY small box to stress and suffer the noises of kids and camera flashes, and they are probably making a profit from this. Sure it's super rare and they can't blend in with their environment, but it's the circle of life! Bad coat genetics happen! All they could've done was leave the animal alone and take some cool photos of it from afar. White deer aren't being captured for being so vulnerable, so why do it to this raccoon? These people should be sued or even arrested for what they have done. They traumatized an animal just to be displayed for profit and they might try to breed since he has the albino gene to sell rare albino raccoons as pets or as display animals for a very high price. Breeding a ferral animal to make more will pass down his aggressive temperament. And the ones that don't have any white? Discarded like trash.
So if you are one of those people who see a rare or albino animal, please stay away and take a quick photo or video from a distance. This is just ridiculous
The laws in South Korea are very, very different from other countries around the world. While rescuing at-risk colors of animals is illegal in, say, the United States due to wildlife protection laws that aim to keep the entire population of animals safe from the public, it isn't the same in South Korea. There are very limited laws regarding wildlife there. In the end, they didn't do anything illegal and are giving the raccoon proper care in captivity. They are probably using it for wildlife education or genetic research as a rare coat color so I don't personally see a problem with it. There is also no indication that they are going to breed it, and zoos certainly wouldn't sell into the pet industry.
@@krexxa still though, it's not right. It's traumatizing for the animal that poor raccoon is under so much stress, and the fact that they put a snake in his enclosure and right in his face is flat out wrong. They need to make animal rights laws in every continent.

yes! I love tanukis 💕 but I doubt they traumatized it by showing it a snake once to see if it had wild instincts. I wouldn't be so quick to attack and assume that these caregivers are mistreating this animal when it could live a long, happy, and healthy life in captivity under the proper care! it's obviously afraid in the video due to the cameras and people right in its face, which was clearly a one-off type of thing for the tv show. plus all animals are afraid at first and fear can be a good thing if you want to keep wild animals wild. keeping animals in captivity can be an extremely positive experience for the animal (bless zoos tbh) and I think it's beneficial in this case, especially since it's a miracle that it even survived as long as it did. also, we cannot assume that the enclosure isn't just a temporary holding or quarantine area since most places that care for animals have them to prevent the spread of disease or to keep new animals until a larger enclosure is set up.

This is NOT albino... All albino animals have red/pink eyes. Some white animals are LEUCISTIC, meaning that they have a reduced amount of pigmentation in relation to a normal specimen of their species but it is not as severe as albinism (thus, their eyes have more normal coloring).

This looks more like a leucystic raccoon rather than albino. It has blue eyes and a black nose, so it has pigment. The albino has pink or red eyes and pink nose.
Also it's a Tanuki or raccoon dog, and not even a raccoon...

Blue eyes have the least pigment compared to dark eyes. Otherwise it could be red. It's an albino raccoon bec the fur is completely white with blue eyes. Which means it doesnt have a normal melanin/pigment (almost to zero) compared to normal raccoons. It's never ok to take out animals of the wild, but this guy wouldn't survive in the wild due to his fur. Just hope he will adjust and be happy
