    Excellent video my friend with a very good breakdown between two very popular dividend ETFs! I have positions in both, but having done the same research you did earlier in the year, I decided to lean into SCHD more thru the rest of 2023, and just let the VYM position ride along at its current capital level. I didn't exit my VYM position altogether, as it is up slightly over SCHD in the past 12 months in total return, but I decided to not add to it either. Instead, I'm increasing my SCHD position on a regular basis and feel confident doing so. I've been in SCHD for a long time, so my overall total return has been extremely good for that portion of my portfolio, and I look at the past year's downward value drop in SCHD as simply a bump in the road...Always remember, it is time in the market not timing the market that builds wealth and financial security. :)

    Great video , I purchased 200 shares of SCHD , last week . Because of videos like yours! I'm new to dividend etf, investing. I'm selling Amazon Telsa , and and fidelity index fund. So that I can buy more share , and buy VT I etf. I don't see the need to own individual stocks , when you can cover the whole total stock market ! It's videos like this ,that I have learned, to invest , in my Roth! I really like the dividend etfs, I'm new to dividend investing! Thank you !

    I prefer SCHD over VYM; however both are solid options! Not only does SCHD have better capital appreciation, but it also has superior dividend stats! So SCHD all the way baby!!

      I hold both and think both are great. SCHD has a larger dividend and better growth the last 5 years but VYM is a close second. VYM holds more than 400 holdings vs SCHD just over a hundred so VYM is a tad less risky. Love both.

    I like SCHD for the methodology they use to make out the portfolio, the expense ratio is great, the track record is respectable. The diversification within the different sectors is not bad. Volatility (Beta) is less than the S&P. AUM is very solid. I can bet in the next 10 years the majority of the companies within the fund will be around doing business. My purpose in investing on SCHD is for passive income during retirement. Regardless of how the market will perform in the future a dividend will be paid out. I will be happy if the dividend grow to 3.5 % YoY and the stock can appreciate 5 to 7% avg. That on top of SSI income which i will collect in the next 5 yrs is more than enough. thank you for sharing.

    I would think in theory SCHD is just too new to really know if it’s gonna stay consistent while vym is a little more passive and a little less risk.

    • @rick.austin
      @rick.austin  Před rokem +2

      You are correct, SCHD is 12 years old and therefore we still don't know the strenght of the consistency. I tend to trust it because of how the stocks are chosen.

    And what about taxing for non-US citizens who live outisde US

      Hello there, I personally would still hold around 50% in the total stock market, maybe start with bonds after 50 years of age (20% at least?) And the rest between a value etf like schd and a growth etf like qqq, tilted more towards value the closer I get to retirement
