To this day, this remains one of the saddest endings to any story in Arknights (in my opinion.) Ebenholz is going to be haunted by this moment forever. He watched his best friend and brother, the one person in his lonely and miserable life who was there for him since his horribly traumatic childhood, be torn apart by Oripathy, have his mind taken over by a vengeful wretch, and then was forced to finish him off with his own hands. All part of a fate he could do nothing about, and after they'd just experienced so much happiness together. And to think I've seen people trashing Ebenholz's personality. As if he didn't experience all this horror while he was still basically a kid.
Really, bashing on his personality? He is reserved, mistrustful and arrogant... all reasonable flaws given what he has been through, as you said. Also, he improved over the course of the Lingering Echoes event. He overcame his arrogance to play together with Kreide and Czerny. He overcame his trust issues to let others help him and be close to his heart, even if he doesn't let them know it. He even got a little softer, just a bit, before it all came crashing down again.
Granted, the first issues are probably even worse now, considering he got hurt badly again after trying to trust and love again.
Ebenholz just had an enormous character development in the recent event.
@@I_Love_Puzzle_from_ArknightsHG did him so dirty for the sake of his character development and probably for his grand come back in future event
@@minhthienquach4311 right?? i thought i was the only one that disliked how they portrayed him in Zwillingstürme Herbst
when it transitions to sunset, my eyeballs gets washed
ok, late info time. credits for the comment I forgot where. so for those who don't know, operator Czerny was based on a real composer from the 1800s whose named Carl Czerny. One of his works, op 233 was the original tune for some of the tracks used here, op 233 is a mix of lingering echoes lobby theme with a slight hint of the 2nd phase boss theme ( the choir voice ). how arknights turned that small part into its own separate masterpiece is quite literally insane, shoutout hypergryph for introducing this wonderful artist and his music and its tribute as an operator. feel free to correct me if there are wrong info.
I love the little detail that Kriede is performing behind the bridge in this form. To anyone interested, bowing behind the bridge on a cello produces a much more coarse and rough sound, sometimes even painful to listen to. It's utilized in some horror media occasionally!
This comment lives rent free in my head every time I talk about Lingering Echoes to my friend thank you for this piece of knowledge it hurts me so much
I might be overanalyzing but I feel like this boss theme has a great way to narrate the fight and Ebenholz's feelings.
Solemn Twlight has an intimadating vibe with a bit of grief as the character is facing a legendary figure which used to be someone he held dear. And he has trouble accepting what he became.
As the transition goes, it shows us that Kreide is "still there" since he actually fights for us, it's a way of re-humanizing who Ebenholz is fighting.
Ebenholz realizes that and comes to a full acceptance, the whole music has a different atmosphere, the objective has changed and we're now fighting to put Kreide to rest. He's still here and we can save him.
He’s not on to something. He’s right at the mark. Because each phase is showing ebon what he’s going through in order to save everyone in afterglow. First phase is fighting the “witch king” himself and putting a stop to it. Ebon knows who he is. And later. Second phase. You see kreide under the mask. You realized that you are also killing kriede in order to save everyone else. He helps out I think. From what I saw in his second phase he shoots white wave beams at the enemies. Then his last phase. We know what ebon has to do. It’s cruel and dark but it has to be done
I would also like to add that when the transition sunset ends, Kreide is seen holding his head in pain while the Witch King's eyes glow ominous yellow and he resumes fighting us, as if Kreide lost the last vestige of control he had, and now as the game says: "He tried to save everyone, yet remains only one way to save him"
It’s even harder to fight him when it’s mask breaks and you can see kreide behind it as he helps you hold back the slugs I actually nearly broke into tears
@@kasagrim7215 it's dark, but it's not cruel. the somewhat more triumphal feeling of the last part of the song is for a reason; this is kriede's last act done of his own free will and ebenholz is doing what he can to honor it, to honor his request. there's a lot of affection and even love between them, and killing him is horrible, but a mercy. boss fight made me straight up cry, honestly.
The melody reminds me of the boss dark soul fight. Just Epic
Dark Souls 3 OST - Abyss Watchers
When the boss enters the second stage and the violin starts playing
@@individuo6724 I try to edit this ost and Abyss watcher boss and I got goddamn epic scene
So this is what the theme sounds without Lee's 3rd skill sound effect.
Man the first phase was good but the second and third phase brought it to a whole new level. This gotta be my 2nd favorite boss theme in Arknights
prepare for rerun boys! take a sip for every time this event breaks your heart.
6:09 this sound SO majestic
thanks so much for putting the phases together, all the other videos felt incomplete without all phases!
I still can't get over Kreide's death
I haven't played the event yet but the boss in this art looks like Patriot with a violin
Yeah damn right, if character is holding anything in his hands, and looks dangerous, 99% it is a bomb
Sounds too epic for a tower defense game, but that’s what Arknight OSTs’ all about.
Everytime I hear this song they put rain on my face
Thanks for compiling the three!
thanks!
This song slaps. Love that it had the transition.
If i got a penny for each arknights boss theme that made me cry, I got two penny each for Mephisto and Kreide
Which it isn't much but im surprised how arknights can make two good emotional boss theme
Mephisto was a piece of shit, Faust's death was definitely way more impactful.
@@UitBlinkertje_ i mean he was a piece of crap towards the children of ursus, but you have to see what the soldiers of ursus did to the infected to understand Mephisto
@@nazodreemur8284 Evil born from an innocent mind does not make it less evil. That kid's a psycho no matter how you look at it.
@@YataTheFifteenth hes not forgivable yes but hes not the same as Ursus is.
If you read his lore its just a huge revenge story Mephisto aim to destroy Ursus for what they done towards his past. Bagel and her mates learnt how Ursus treat the infected thus they joined Rhodes Island to turn Ursus into a more merciful country rather than kill or make infected became a slaves.
Plus Patriot actually understand how Mephisto felt as he fell on the same past as him. Just Patriot able to fight while Mephisto dont.
@@YataTheFifteenth Even so, you can still sympathize with them. It doesn't matter how psychotic Mephisto was, Lullabye is still the kind of that nostalgic song that makes you cry.
I don't really like Mephisto but my god the flashback part from the anime made my heart broke. The voice actor really did pour his heart for that scene
LEE-8. My favorite stage in AK for how easy it was with E1 operators.
huh? i had lots of e2 operators and Kreide still bent me over gave me that cello in the ass
Odd comparison to make, but I get some NieR vibes from the final phase. Fitting though, considering the tragic nature of the event.
His silhouette reminds me of Patriot.
I feel like this event needs to be a spinoff of the arknights anime.
I wish I got to experience this event, it seems very tragic. hopefully it comes back.
This song also starts playing in Zwillingstürme im Herbst during the before-story of the boss level.
Bruh phase 3 song makes me tear up whenever I hear it
a big guy with horns on his head carrying a bass into battle be like okay die faster. 5 minutes into the fight. "OH GOD WHY DOES HE HIT SO HARD AND WHY WON'T HE DIE!!!

It's honestly criminal how hard Kreide's OST carries this event because the story... Damn that was some janky execution.
In phase transition Kreide clinged to his humanity and started attacking the slugs, but his attackspeed got slower and slower then finally succumbed to Voice of Terra. Now that is when men cry
Technically he never truly succumbs. Until the end, whenever Witch King targets all "enemies" as in, our operators as Kreide is about to stop he thinks... and attacks himself.
Witch king forced him to attack "the enemy" but he didn't expect for Kreide to cling to his humanity and still perceive himself as "their enemy" feeling the Witch King taking over.
Witch King took control of his body but not of his mind, Kreide was truly an experience to witness on stage.
