He wasn't the original host. Chuck Woolery was the original host. Pat holds the record for the longest host on the same show. He passed Alex Trebeck's record a few years ago, who hosted WoF for a week back in 1980. A bit of trivia for you. 😊

Remembering that Susan Stafford was still co-hostess for the next several months when Pat made his debut, the fans would wonder how this could play out with a new co-hostess, if Vanna is indeed retiring before the end of her contract.

@@ariccua6101 that probably won't happen either. The last thing Wheel needs is it's timelessness feel being yoinked away.
That said...I would prefer the Celebrity Wheel set to carry over to regular Wheel...the golden colors on black are a nice throwback to the 1997-2002 era and don't fade into the background as much as the default blue/purple on top of blue/purple. I mean if you can change the color of the board and change the color of the wheel, have fun with it!

I think the people unsure of Ryan are just remembering all the old shows we used to watch but that makes it pretty smmoth to me. Ryan, like Pat has matured and learned over the years. I think it is a fitting nostalgic passing of the torch. Pat will always be loved as a legend and gentlemen, but I'm surprisingly quite pleased and supportive that Ryan will make him proud.
Excited about Ryan Seacrest hosting, he always does a great job on New Year’s Rockin Eve and I know he’s a perfect replacement for Pat Sajak.

This'll be a unique look for Wheel of Fortune, when it comes to hearing the name "Ryan Seacrest" (and I share the same Christmas Eve birthday with him), as the new host of the show. Pat Sajak had a phenomenal 43 years hosting the show, and I couldn't thank him enough, as well as other past and present Wheel Watchers.
As for Ryan, he might just be the new host of Wheel of Fortune, but to me, he's the same guy who knows how to bring "Idols" to the musical stage, rock his way into the "New Year", with the vibes from the late Dick Clark, and also be one of the hosts who used to wake up in the morning with Kelly Ripa, as well. Either way, best of luck to you, Ryan, and you too, Pat.
To this date, The Wheel has been on the air for the past 50 years. It all started with Chuck Woolery, and the torch has passed on over to Pat, and now Ryan will keep the fun going like he did on idol, live, and rockin’ New Year’s Eve.

I think Pat is still employed as the consulting producer; I could be wrong. But it will take some getting used to, just as it did when Drew Carey began hosting TPIR, and when Alex Trebek died, leaving us with a different experience with Jeopardy!
The last game show host that retired was Bob Barker from "The Price Is Right". He retired in 2007.

The latter got mixed reviews when filling in for Pat, back in December 2019, having said in an interview that she refuses to give it another go, we’ll see about this, as the season progresses. I don’t mind Sony choosing Ryan, despite some fans disliking the guy in the limelight too much and how he acts at times.
I hope the intro read transitions to "Vanna White and Ryan Seacrest," to recognize all the value she's individually added for the show.

Pat has always known how to sympathize with contestants when things don't go well. Ryan has done the same thing for contestants while hosting American Idol. I think Ryan is a good choice. I will miss Pat a lot. Pat's first episode aired when I was still a baby so basically, his run on WOF has pretty much been my whole life. It is time for someone new and fresh.
Remember when Bob Barker retired from TPIR, Drew Carey took over and is still doing a great job after more than 15 years. When Alex Trebek passed away, Ken Jennings took over as the new host of Jeopardy! and does a great job. He knows better than anyone what it's like to be a contestant on Jeopardy!. Those changes worked and this one can too. I'm sure Ryan will keep WOF great as always.

"When I was three years old, I used to enjoy watching Wheel of Fortune with Pat Sajak and Vanna White. Alex Trebek was the longtime host of Jeopardy!, and I admired both of these iconic hosts. When Alex Trebek passed away in 2021, he was replaced by Ken Jennings. Similarly, when Bob Barker was replaced by Drew Carey on The Price is Right, it was a great change. Now that Pat Sajak is retiring, he will be replaced by Ryan Seacrest, who is well-known for hosting American Idol, which airs on Sundays. I have mixed feelings about Pat's retirement, but I think Ryan will do a great job. I wish Mr. Sajak good luck on his retirement, and I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan joins Vanna on Wheel of Fortune in the future."
