  • Brief review of the two Takamines. Which do you prefer? I stated they have Cedar Tops, they are Spruce.

Great video!!!! Quite good guitars being compared with the same camera and mic (same conditions in general) that allow the viewer to compare them in a very objective way. Thanks a lot!

    I agree
The Nat version seems to be better with strumming
whilst the Sunburst version is better for finger style.
On finger style the Nat version just sounds a bit more lower / dimmer more bassy?? Or just not producing the sharper higher pitch sounds the sunburst makes.
Whilst the Sunburst version the sound it makes is definitely more louder/clearer too/ higher pitched. But if you strum with the Sunburst version with the same power/attack of strumming as the Nat version, the sunburst creates so much sound/too loud that it kinda messes the sound? if you catch my drift. Or can be overwhelming for the ears. The higher pitch sounds are more pronounced.
But the sunburst definitely sounds nicer fingerstyle, but too much for heavy strummers. The higher pitch sound is more pronounced on the strumming of that guitar, and sound's too much hence I feel it sounds better fingerstyle.
Whilst the Nat version, that higher pitch is lower and the bass sound is a bit more pronounced.
So I am guessing that if you make songs that are more on the realms of, sad songs, dim, reminisce, chill, lo fi type of song then the GN30CE would compliment it?
And if the songs you sing are more lively in nature, not sad, something like that, the GF30CE would fit the bill. (and finger style)
But yeah both guitars look so niceee and are like, why get only one get the best of both worlds.
But the wallet said's you can only choose one...

just got the Takamine FXC Cutaway TK-GF30CE-BLK Electro Acoustic Guitar black to replace my takamine Jasmine which had a slight ebike accident when overtaking a bentley in town clouted the Bentleys wing-mirrors and buggered it up
I presently have for best me takamine p3nc and me fender jimmy Hendrix ultra violet
but my travel guitar the jasmine has seen better days after hitting a Bentley at around 25 mph lol
so the GF-30CE is its replacement

At 4:18 you mention the "aspect of singing, depending on what type of voice you have". Could you explain more? I'm a singer songwriter Mezzo Soprano. I strum AND pick, depending upon the mood and style of the song I've written. I'm trying to decide between the NEX and the FXC. Thank you.

Hi, I would try them both for you. But since you are soprano, I would go with GN since the guitar is deeper and warmer. The GF is bright. It’s best for you to decide though.
      Thanks for your comment.

I have a GN 51 spruce/rosewood and it's a fair guitar for the price. Looks and sounds very nice strummed and fingerpicked also, after I changed the strings, the so called "sinthetic bone" nut and saddle with some natural bone ones and the plastic pins with rosewood pins. The only thing for me personal is the 43mm nut widtht. For my big hands I would like to be 45-46. But Takamine do not make such guitars with such nut widht. Otherwise it's a great option. Fair price for a great guitar. I often use the capo on 3-4 or 6 fret and play in other key because there the string space is ok for my fingers and do not touch the neighbour string. This is the only thing I think to change it for a 45-46 nut widtht model like Baton Rouge X54, Cort (has some models with 45-46mm nut widtht), or an Alvarez guitar. But if you have no such problem than I highly recomand Takamine. They are just great guitars for the price.
