- Excited to share with you the first part of a serie of travel films I shot in Andalusia just recently. This first film was shot in Córdoba.
Everything was captured on the new BMCC6K full frame and Leica R 35mm f/2 and 90mm f/2. Shot in 6K 3:2 Open Gate, BRAW 8:1, 24p. Edited and graded in DaVinci Resolve with BUTTERY LUTs.

Really amazing footage, each looks like a movie clip, thank you.
God, this is absolutely insane for a $2,500 camera. The footage really genuinely reminds me of the Arri Alexa at times.
Amazing work.
Can't deny the beauty of the sensor. So real.
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful imagery. Blackmagic should use this footage to advertise the BMCC6K.
The video camera is very good, not to mention the specifications and what it can do, but the most important factor is the "piece" behind it, namely the camera operator. You managed to capture some beautiful shots as always, the differences in light and shadow are pleasant and give the idea of clear and obscure. Congratulations master.
So many damn complainers about this camera yet the footage is lovely.
the shot at 2:21 girl back with the green background, we really feel the FF in the blur, depth etc
Beautiful Matteo. The more you share the easier my choice will be. Thank you for the work you put in.
When a man becomes a legend!!🎉😊 Matteo you're my inspiration 🙏
BEAUTIFUL...simply beautiful
Lovely as always! So much beauty in Cordoba. You should visit Salamanca too, relatively close to Lisbon and a very beautiful place. It's my city of birth. If you need a guide or some extra crew there or in Madrid, don't hesitate to give me a shout! 😊
Your eye and composition is kind of perfect. The sauce this camera has, color/clarity is a sleeper that many will talk about very soon. Simply gorgeous. I feel like I am watching a motion picture from medium format, film camera.
Absolutely beautiful shots. You have a "good eye" and you are making the best of that new camera. Thanks for sharing.
Well done... Córdoba is a beautiful city!
Really nice footage, amazing quality, this maybe my 1st BMD camera purchase since 2016 !
This is stunning! I love your work.
Thank for sharing Matteo!
Wow, looks amazing!
Beautiful shots of a beautiful city on a great little camera!
Very beautiful
Buddy, as you own the BMPCC 6k , BMCC 6k Full Frame & Ursa mini pro, pls do a side by side comparison video.
This could help a good amount of BMPCC 6k/pro owners & people outside the Black Magic eco system to get a better understanding of this new Full Frame camera on how it's different from the rest or even better at some instances.
I will once the final firmware is out :)
@@matteobertoli Will be waiting for that video, buddy!
Thanks!
Good job, sir!
gorgeous shots Matteo, thanks for sharing
Lovely footage. Thank you.
Musique parfaite pour des images très belles
Beautiful images! Really impressed by the way this camera handles highlights.
Looks great! Detail and textures look very pleasing and intricate without any of the typical edge sharpening you see in mirrorless cameras. And this despite the OLPF. Nice shots and edit! Thanks!
Insane! Matteo, you are truly one of the best
Would be amazing to do a side-by-side comparison with the Ursa 12K
Beautiful
Nicely done!
How would you say the image compares to your URSA 12k OLPF? Also how does the low light compare?
Wow!
Great shots. Do you use a mist filter or do you add halation in post?
Tiffen black pro mist 1/4!
I already pre-ordered mine. I think this is more filmic than the pocket 6K sensor. I even made a video on my i ordered one on my channel. Thanks for sharing
Fantastic Shots, just Art!
Matteo i love the results u get with the buttery luts, but what is ur oponion on color space transform?
greetings
Thanks! Makes no sense to me :)
@@matteobertoli Just bought ur natural + creative bundle for my s5, and yeah way better then the luts and cst i used, glad i did it.
Thank you, and love ur work big motivation.
Appreciate!
The color and DR is nice on these images. BRAW is almost the same as ProRes HQ on BMC so that didn’t make much of a difference with this type of look. Lenses rendered pretty sterile detail but sharp. The resolution is the lowest contributor to the image so HD vs 6k is a wash there.
Beautiful! Makes me want to go to Cordoba especially as a guitarist.. nice soundtrack too! I have the 4K pocket and also the original pocket. I’m still very impressed by look of that original pocket’s footage which seems to have some very nice unique characteristics. Problem with mine is that the protective cover of the sensor got all gunked up with mold and so now camera is useless to me and until I can afford this new full frame, it would be nice to have it operational for a multi camera shoot. Worth mentioning that the same mold situation happened to my pocket 4K and I had to have blackmagic design replace the part but they no longer service the original pocket camera. Wondering if anyone knows a Camera shop that would fix it without spending too much? Also, wondering if others have had this mold problem with their Blackmagic Cameras and if the company has fixed this issue? I should mention that although I do live in Hawaii. my other Sony and Panasonic cameras have been around for over a decade with no such problem.
how much space did the 6k footage take up on your computer?
❤️❤️❤️
Waiting for pocket 6k vs this 6k full frame ❤
Would love to see a color grade breakdown of your Video Matteo ! They're just so good ! Would love to know how you take care off the highlights to get that smooth rolloff.
Thanks! I don’t do much, just expose properly
What's the name of the score? Pairs lovely with the footage
Hi Matteo, How are you doing? great video! Have you used the panasonic 1.8 lenses already on the blackmagic camera? How they compare? As I have seen a comparison video between the new leica lenses and the panasonic 1.8 lenses and they look very similar. So interested on your thoughts!
Panasonic 1.8? Similar to Leica R? I highly doubt it.
@@matteobertoli not the Leica-R's but the new SL's.

Nice work Matteo!!! Do you use any cage? would you know if any cage for the old models are fine on this one? Thanks a lot!!!
No cage used. I assume you can use the same 6K pro accessories
thanks a lot @@matteobertoli
I'm surprised you used constant bitrate for this!
Thank you for sharing. I have learned a lot from your videos. Thank you for that. Slightly off the topic; When shooting clips with sun and shadow, only sun, only shadow, inside with daylight coming in from windows and no, different time of the day etc., what principals would you mention - in general - when it coms to choosing color temperatur for the project/different clips. If the goal is to combine the clips and get a "natural"/documentary feeling/make the clips connect so the viewer feel we are on the same place (not get the feeling of "jumping" in and out? If you have other thoughts about choosing temperature - to achieve different kind of feelings/contribute to the story, that would be very interesting to hear too. Again; this is off the topic of your beautiful demonstration, so I will understand if you prior to not answer this one
This camera seems to have anti-aliasing OLPF filter but I've noticed numerous instances of jumping moiré-like lines on some railings and other vertical patterns. Do you notice any difference in this regard with the older BMPCC 6K and generally speaking, is the filter on the sensor here any effective?
I couldn’t notice any moire to be honest
I looked really closely on an iMac 27 inch display - couldn't see any moiré or aliasing. It might be your monitor.
@@csound55100%
Can you shoot 4K without cropping in on the sensor?
So creamy. Did you add any filter to the Leica lens (glimmerglas?) or is the halation caused by the R itself?
Tiffen black pro mist 1/4
Beautiful work Matteo!
Is it enough 1-5 stops NiSi for sunny days?
If your iso is set to 400, what F you using with this filter?
6 stops is not enough. if you want to shoot f2 you need 7/8 stops. In this video I shot roughly 4-5.6
@@matteobertoli Thank you!
Please use the DZO film Pavo Anamorphic lenses with this camera... I believe they make the best combination
Tell them to send me a couple :)
What’s the verdict? Where did you get BMCC6K? It’s not available in US yet.
how are there only two dudes on youtube with this camera lol
Put down my pre order last year 😬
@@matteobertoli hahahaha wtf how 😂
@@directedbyMax black magic 😂
😮😮😮😮😮
Are all shots hand held?
Yes add some gyro stabilization in post in some shots!
Hy Matteo! :) Im wondering if you have experience with Zeiss contax lenses? And if yes what your thoughts on those are compared to the Leica-R Lenses you are using. :)
Never used them!
@@matteobertoli OK :) Thanks for your answer! :)
Ciao, Matteo.
Did you record in 48fps?
24
Compare to your Ursa 12k OLPF on youtube the CC6k FF has less DR but more detail or shaprness which is surprising consider one is 6k and the other is 12k. IQ is noticeably better on the 12k but skin tone looks better on the 6k. This is just base on the videos you have here and there maybe grading different that changed how they look.
You have a very patient wife lol
Highlights look bit harsh
Are we watching the same video? 😂
An other video for my 4:3 monitor 😏
Hi Matteo, thanks! A quick question - how does one know which modes use the full sensor and which ones crop in? Are all 4K modes cropped in?
There's a tendency for you guys not to read the headings before asking questions. He said everything was captured on the new BMCC6K full frame and Leica R 35mm f/2 and 90mm f/2. Shot in 6K 3:2 Open Gate, BRAW 8:1, 24p. He didn't mention crops anywhere. However, here you are asking about crops.
@@nigerian-nightmare No, he didn't mention crops anywhere but I wanted to clear confusion regarding a doubt I had and Matteo has used BMD cameras for a long time while I have never owned a camera and plan to get this new one.
My question, I will try to rephrase it, is there are multiple modes providing different aspect ratios and frame rates on this camera. The 6K open gate mode uses the full sensor area. Do the 4K modes use the full sensor area or do they crop in to S35 (there is one mode that says S35 but the others say for example 4K DCI).
If these modes are in fact cropped-in modes, how do we actually get to know? Is it in the manual or do we find out through pixel peeping etc? (not necessarily just for this camera but in general)
@@watzmaaname It is an S35 crop in 4K mode. There is no need to look in the manual or pixel-pipping to find out. You'll know as soon as you switch to 4K mode on the camera. The crop will be immediately apparent. The manual probably contains all the information you need about the actual crop size. Most likely, it is 1.5, as in the 6kpro.
@@nigerian-nightmare Got it. Understood. My ignorance stems from lack of on-hand experience. Thanks for clearing that for me. Cheers!
missing that inbuilt ND sadly
With the L mount it's not possible same as e mount only way is eND. So either they tie up with a start up which is already developed and presented in recent camera tech show or do rnd and come with up in house product. which is not possible with their current trajectory
Between this camera and the lumix s5mkiix which is better and why?
Not even comparable. Blackmagic shoots interna RAW. Panasonic only shoots prores 1080 internally
Did you use any diffusion filter?
Tiffen black pro mist 1/4
Matteo I found a solution for rolling shutter! Stabilize using gyro data, set strength to zero
Never been an issue for me to be honest, but happy to hear :)
It’s for all the haters who want to hate on the rolling shutter :). I tested yesterday on a few shots once I discovered
Nothing what you can not do with any camera right now. Like in the music industry we are at a point where gear definitely does not matter anymore beside of checking boxes for some kind of silly industry standard idea. Intention and art counts more but earning money is a completely different thing.
i dont like open gate :( 3:4 is not good....
In facts it’s 3:2
This camera just kind of feels like a big nothing. Yeah, the image is great, it was already great on the 6KPRO, seems like it's just jumping on the full-frame hype train.
Tons more details, OLPF, L mount, no more 1.56x crop, cfexpress. Try one first, then you judge it. Sounds like the same thing I heard when the 12K came out. It’s a G2 that shoots 12K.
I don’t think they made this to get people to dump their Pros. They still sell Pros. I think they made it because some people want a full frame camera. It’s not a phone, you aren’t forced to upgrade.
This camera footage is insanely clean with deep blacks, I am stunned how good it looks, it perhaps surpases ALEXA ! No BS.
@@booneh exactly. For example in my case, having an Ursa 12K with a 1.3x crop, the almost 1.6x crop was getting a bit annoying. I also never liked the nds on the Pro so I prefer an olpf by far. Lastly, I never used prores, but I do understand that for some people is essential. That’s why they are not getting rid of the Pro :)
