With great change comes great opportunity, and now is your moment to seize the day. In Kosk, the western-most city of Valeria, a Castellan is needed to manage the city’s development and day-to-day operations. The Kingdom’s newest Duke has personally invited you to compete for this once-in-a-lifetime position. Over five months, you must skillfully guide Kosk by developing districts, collecting resources, buying and selling goods at the wharf, gaining influence within the Guilds, and encouraging useful and powerful citizens to move to Valeria’s frontier. Each month, Guild Magistrates will rank your performance, then the Council of Guilds will make its final report to the Duke. Will you be judged as one of the greatest Castellans in all of Valeria?

The game is about small, frequent wins and knowing when to relinquish control in favor of the greater scheme. That "repetitive" feel with how you describe the game is totally understandable. Know that every point does truly matter here because each zone scores exactly three times before the game is over. Coming in second or third in a handful of zones instead of coming in first in one is almost always the better play!
When we created this game, we made every building worth the same control points, which would allow players to just put their pieces next to each other in a zone so when you're totaling up the control at the end of a round you can know who's getting what quickly. The buildings largely do not matter after you put them down, which is when you get the bonus they provide. The only time they do is when you're scoring off of specific monuments you've decided to throw in an area, which should also help speed things along.
Regardless of all that, thanks for taking the time to look at the game. I'm with you that two-player area control anything is usually a drag, so find that third for a better experience since you want that chaos factor! If you do play again, give that AI Opponent a shot. We worked hard on making it a super easy process of grabbing things and just putting em' down so you can keep the momentum going. Hell, you can put it in your three-player game too!

Thank you for your thoughts on the 2-player experience especially. It might work for my husband, but I think the repetitive nature would get to me. I appreciate the video!

Francis is spot on here. Excellent production but we found the scoring every round and trying to separate all those pieces (to score) in each district repetitive and not fun.
