I usually support Parvathy in what she speaks and thinks. But in this I cannot back her. Islamic extremism is real. Show casing that isn't Islamophobic. Just like criticising Sangh Parivar isn't Hindu phobic. Trance, the movie, isn't Christian phobic either.
I think, making the central character of Take Off, a muslim, actually made the whole story less islamophobic

Muslim community in Kerala should start accepting genuine criticism. Islamaphobia and criticism are not the same thing. We should speak against hate spread by sanghis but there should be a clear idea what is hate and what is critisism. Islamic Terrorism is global phenomenon, there is nothing to do with sanghis. 'മാലിക്' മേക്കിങ് അപാരം. കിടു പേർഫോമൻസ്, പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ച പോലെ. ജലജയെന്ന അതുല്യപ്രതിഭയെ വീണ്ടും മലയാള സിനിമയിലെത്തിച്ചതിന് മാലിക് ടീമിനോട് സ്നേഹം. അൺ ടു ദി ഡസ്കിൽ കണ്ട് മറഞ്ഞ അമനെ (ആണെന്നാണ് ഒരു ഉറപ്പ്) വീണ്ടും അതിനേക്കാൾ മികച്ച അഭിനയത്തിൽ കണ്ടതിന് വലിയ സന്തോഷം. സംഗീതത്തിൽ മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടിൻ്റെ കേട്ടുമറന്ന ഒരു ചുവ എപ്പോഴുമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അതേസമയം കുമ്പളങ്ങി നൈറ്റ്സിൽ നിന്നും സുഷിൻഷ്യാം ഇറങ്ങി വരാത്തതു പോലെ തോന്നി. അഭിനയത്തിൽ ഫഹദും ജോജുവും നിമിഷയും വിനയ് ഫോർട്ടും തുടങ്ങി എല്ലാവരും മികച്ചു നിന്നു.
കേരളം കണ്ട 'ആ കലാപം' അന്ന് പോലീസ് ആസൂത്രണം ചെയ്തതാണ് എന്നത് ഇത്രയും വ്യക്തമായി പറഞ്ഞതിന് മഹേഷ് നാരായണന് ഒരു കൈയ്യടി. ഒപ്പം പോലീസ് കാട്ടിക്കൂട്ടുന്ന വൃത്തികേടുകളും ഗൂഢാലോചനകളും അതേപടി പകർത്തിയതിനും.

The director has the freedom to make interpretation in his/her content, with exception of not discriminating/insulting a specific group or community.... and how changing the main character's caste makes it Islamophobic ? A very informative interview.... Didn’t realise that so much research n study goes into the making of that movie ..Raises the greatness of that movie .. As an ordinary audience I found that movie amazing ..felt it so realistic .. especially after seeing the Hindi movie
While I understand what he is saying, cannot quite agree that writers are not conscious of the sensibility they are promoting and that is why they write sexist dialogues like the one he was mentioning. Writers and directors have to take responsibility for what they are writing. It is not that they don't know what is not politically correct, they write in sexist/homophobic/casteist jokes because that is considered normal. Change will happen only when the writers and directors take responsibility for what they create and don't glorify marginalizing a gender/community/sexual orientation. In this matter, I respect Parvathy. She doesn't come across as defensive, but more introspective. She also owns up to her mistakes, which other creative artists/directors do not do.
