Hi, Nice progress. I think the part of the saw palmetto you were asking what is was, was the heart of palm. It's the bud of the trunk. Maybe I'll see you in Taylor County one day :) keep on keeping on
Hey, I just thought of something I wish I had mentioned earlier, but cutting up wood (especially hardwood) before it cures is a LOT easier than after; it gets denser and tougher with each passing week.. The land is beautiful and it's wonderful that you have so much in common and enjoy working together for shared goals. It's been very enjoyable to watch your progress, I hope you continue letting us be a part of it.
Thank you so much! Black Jack Oak is a bit of a pain to cut even before it is cured. Beautiful but nasty buggers to cut. We needed to upgrade our chainsaw just to get through them all.
A homebase is the way to go! I wish ours was in Florida too. The well water is awesome and 32ft to hit water is great too. I've seen others dig over 100ft to hit water.👍🤠. Way to go guys! Happy Rving!
This is the best how to for exactly what we're doing that we've seen. Can't thank ya'll enough. You guys are tough, clearing all that by hand. I'll be using a mini ex like the one that dug your septic.
We have really good forestry mulchers in the area. Do not root rake your property. Others have done this and they regret the results. We live on sand and RVs are heavy. The roots stabilize the land perfectly
We hope to have something like this before too long and when we do... I can say you were our inspiration :) Love the land and m the progress... It looks so comfy and serene.
Helli and congratulations on your exciting purchase. I am very interested in the steps necessary in owning property in Taylor County to place my rv on. Please advise me and i thank you in advance for your time and information.
Hey Cherita! The best way is to look up realtors that serve Taylor County to see the current listings and prices. Any property listed as residential and is located outside a city will likely allow full time RV living. Good luck with your search 👀
We are looking in Taylor for property. (Found one) If everything goes well we hope to have our base this year. We are from Michigan and may shoot down there for a quick look at the parcel we're interested in soon. Love to meet up with you!

They allow tiny homes as they are considered RV because of the wheels. That is correct on the price. Land price varies but 10-15K for a 1 acre lot should be expected. Chickens!!! Thank you so much for watching Lisa :)

Yes. As long as you stay within the building code for the steel building you should have no troubles. Many have placed a steel building on their property.
I'm just wondering if you didn't want to go through the work, could you have hired a mulcher to go in there and just clear it all out? If so what would that cost?
Hi there Lou ! We hired local folks to do the big lifting and prices were very reasonable. We have spent about 10K for all work done including septic, well, power, permits, equipment and shipping container. Thank you so much for watching!
What are the maximum number of RV sites are you allowed year round? Excluding the land cost what are your to date total site improvement costs to date? Septic, Water, Power, fencing, culvert driveway work, site clearing, permits and fees, storage container etc. How is trash service provided?
You are allowed 4 RVs year round but not limits on sites. You should expect $10K and a little sweat equity :) You can burn trash or drop it off at a local trash deposit site. Good for us because it is on the way to town. Mail service is available with mailboxes at the entrance of the subdivision. Thank you so much for watching Peter!

How far inland are you all? I've looked at property in different parts of FL and just curious how the flora and fauna might be different closer to the water, whether it's fresh or salt. I've been surprised to find there are actually higher elevations - in the 200' range in FL, but those seem spendier in general. Would love to learn more about what your thoughts were in choosing land and if there are things you would do differently now. Love following your progress down there.
We were very fortunate to find land at an elevation that does not flood. Recently it rained for a week solid almost 24 hours a day and no flooding. Steinhatchee had a great deal of flooding that made the news but we were good. We are about 1 mile from the Gulf and the vegetation is very similar to Northern Florida trees and plants. As you can see by the video we are in a forested area with lots of wildlife but plenty of undeveloped beach front. Looking back, the only thing we would do differently....we should have done this sooner :) We are so please with our decision to set up a home base and in the long term, much easier on our pocketbook for a full time RVer. We will have a private full hookup site to rent if you would be interested in the future. Enjoy the journey!
@@averagecampers Very likely I would be interested in coming down and staying while looking over some plots. I'm impressed you were able to get a little elevation that close to the water. I've considered the plots already set up for camping but so many are in flood zones. It's interesting to see what fits on an acre; surprising that you have so much room and still have a green barrier for privacy. Re-watching your home base video made wonder if goats would be helpful for keeping the ground cleared. I'm not sure if they would do well in that climate though. Here in Oregon they make a nice addition for raw land especially. Some people actually rent them out. :)
