This is the result of combining all 17 segments from my 7500 mile road trip this summer. At the fastest, the car's apparent speed is over Mach 80, far surpassing the Earth's orbital escape speed. If it went by too fast, see my other videos from this series.
Recording was done on a Canon Vixia HF S10. GPS data was recorded using an Android phone. Editing and compositing was done with mplayer, mencoder, ffmpeg, ImageMagick, and a bit of perl glue.
The soundtrack is meant to roughly match the tracks from the component videos, but with a twist.

@quatlen Whenever I do another one of these, I'll use google tracks (for Android), so that I actually get something street-resolution worthwhile :) If I do that, I might just write an app that will make use of the google maps tiles in the GPS window in the resulting video..

Man! ... I sure was glad to learn this was time-accelerated ... At first, I just thot I was having another really slow morning!
... Next trip, it might be fun to include a time-lapse of your fuel guage, in the other corner.
... Might also be fun to do a xx pr0n version, bring a hot GF and include all the back-seat and rest-stop footage (at hyper speed, of course) ... Like in "A Clockwork Orange".
