The whispering is an unfortunate byproduct of this effect (which ultimately makes for bad television). The players recognize that more likely than not their plans made in advance can just blow up in their face, so instead they wait until the last second to mix things up (at tribal council). This way their plan can be the LAST thing another player hears before they go and vote; I think it’s more likely that people stick to an update they had 5 minutes ago rather than a plan they listened to hours or even days ago.

"...until 5 minutes from now when I learn something new". That's what I keep hearing about Survivor---that adaptability is key, and being able to think on your feet, in the moment.

Far too often we have seen players plan a blindside early rather than planting seeds only to have the plan blow up and get themselves voted out or put on the chopping block. Toward the end of the game I think this is influenced by players worrying about building a resume. Their time would be better spent developing the argument at the final tribal about how they manipulated the vote rather than making one big move.

Before the challenge even started I knew Nick was going to win. Because that’s how survivor works. Whoever you want out always wins immunity. Because they are hungry to win while the other players not so much. Look how Kim ended up by targeting Tony, and he won immunity.

Absolutely love hearing you opine about & analyze over the gameplay that is Survivor. Fully agree on this one: A plan to vote out someone must be done with impeccable timing (as Cochran was very fond of doing), and not before the challenge or days ahead of time. Kudos to you!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the merges and juries becoming larger in recent seasons
