Not gonna lie, for 32 out of 33 years of my life I've never felt as uneasy as I do now as a black man in the England... I was born in Germany but was brought here before turning 2 to be with the rest of my family who'd been here since the early 50s and for 99% of my life, I regarded this great country as my home and always felt welcome but following the last month I'm not so sure if I am anymore.
It really hurts seeing how Americanised this country is becoming and how we're allowing greedy politicians to manipulate, polarise and divide us just to cover their backs and all their f'ups.
I just hope it's not too late for us to realise what their game is and that we can find a way back to the unity and sense of national pride we ALL had back during the 2012 Olympics.

Hi, your comment made me quite sad! At this point in time, the government is making many people feel uncertain, unsettled and communities divided in the UK no matter their colour, religion etc. My main point is this, you are an Englishman and this is your home and for what it's worth, I'm a white woman. All of us must stick together and not let the government or their ideologies drive us apart. ❤

Being a stranger in someone else’s country means the onus is on YOU to fit in. Yes you might come across some a-holes (we all do) but were they 99% of your interactions or 1%?
Remember you CHOSE to be here, no one forced you and you have a homeland to go back to - we don’t. People who integrate, show respect, join in and pay their way positively WILL be accepted. Shady is accepted. We like you. But you also need to understand that we have tolerated a hell of a lot of newcomers who are not integrating or paying their way, some rape, rob, murder and suck us dry of benefits they haven’t earned. Tolerance has a limit.

More common sense from a man I as an indigenous Brits am proud to have here. A man of honour and integrity who came here legally and is my black British brother ( well probably grandson given my age 😁). We Brits are not racist and we welcome anyone who comes legally and accepts our values and culture, skin colour doesn't enter the equation. I am not pretending that there are no individual racists but they are a minority and no country is exempt from having some idiots but they are as I say, a minority. Respect has to be mutual. I am a third generation immigrant and my parents and grandparents faced hated words, sly looks and often not allowed into certain places. They where called names and abused but they where white Irish starved out of their homes or driven out by religious biggetry so yes I understand how many feel. However everyone of us in the UK have stories like this and we are not rascist or anything else. I still get it because of my red hair called a wee paddy or gypsy all of which used to upset me now I say thank you because my heritage is important to me. I don't condemn people because my grandmother said " what people think and say about you reflects on their souls and upbringing, not yours" it is worse now when people of a different skin tone call me names because I am glow in the dark white but you know what it's a reflection on their upbringing not mine. Love as always to you and yours from a ginger paddy vampire gypsy woman from Scotland ❤

Diane... the problem is that they were invited by government policy - labour and tory - and international law, but they weren't invited in terms of a specific democratic mandate from the people. I don't share your perspective entirely, but you do have a right to be angry that mass immigration has happened without the british people giving informed consent.

You are a gentle man and a gentleman. Glad to have you here. I just wish others would follow your example. Race isn't the only reason why people are discriminated against, I come from a working class background and have faced prejudice from the rich, and it is particularly bad now with Starmer describing working-class Brits, who are centre left politically and would normally vote Labour, as far-right racist thugs, because they are concerned for the safety of their families.

Unfortunately the UK is seen as a soft touch when it comes to criminality. I have no objection to genuine asylum seekers who integrate, however when the UK is viewed as a soft touch there will be those who will take advantage of the system including benefits. There needs to be more thorough vetting procedures but with the sheer number arriving everyday it's difficult to find out who is telling the truth and who isn't with their back stories. Imo there are some who will be fleeing a country due to genuine real endangerment to their lives and some who could be fleeing their own country due to crimes they could have committed which carries the death penalty in those countries. It's difficult to know which is which. The UK doesn't have a death penalty anymore and I think that's partly why we are seeing an increase in crime. Poverty can lead to people of all nationalities, including British born people to commit crime as well.

We've seen our communities changed forever, our way of life, history, people demonised.
We've seen bombings, murders, teachers still in hiding etc.
Yet still we have to tolerate.
And yes we welcome those that will love our country, work hard, integrate. Welcome!
But the moment someone disrespects, wants more, demands then that tolerance goes out of the window!
    We are all struggling.

Everyone goes through things in life that we don’t like or hurt us. whether it’s race being over weight, disabled gay etc etc, these things are a test of character and strength, we rise up or we fall down. Some become stronger and grow from their experiences, some become weaker and see themselves as victims.

If I were to migrate to another country, the first thing that comes to my mind is to not upset or offend the people who are welcoming me and acknowledge that I am not entitled to anything because it my idea to go, when in rome do as the romans do... learn from them and respect them, of course there are assholes everywhere in the world, but the house analogy is perfect, even if in a house who invited you for dinner, and one member of the family doesn't like you, you are not entitled to fuck up their home, remain civil and have respect for those who are acommodating you.

I don't mind the legal immigrants who have been vetted by the Government , it's illegal immigrants that aren't vetted that worries me as you don't know their past or if they have violate tendies . That's what the Government needs to understand as knife crime is on the raise and the Government isn't doing anything about knife crime .

What you have been through is sadly what women went through in this country before women had rights. I've lived in about seven countries now and there is an element of needing to be invisible to fit in. While a second element is basic human nature, meaning that there is a long established hierarchy that means everybody started at the bottom rung of the ladder. On the other hand, my white foreign friends tell me that they think "they" have more rights in the UK than the average Indigenous Brit.

Alot of stereotypes are sadly earnt and its not racist to say that.
I grew up in a very racially diverse town. Never had issues with the Chinese community, the sikh community, the Hindu community, the black British community.... only Asian Muslims and Islamic Africans .
Everyone else, if there was an issue, thier own would police thier own.
If they come here to just live thier life, integrate, learn the language, they're already doing the best they can.
