We've all made the "loose scope" mistake!

    Great caliber!
I just rescoped my late wifes 7/08 @ took it to the range.
Rifle is a Savage Axis otic is a Nikko Stirling 4-16.
    Shoots most everything really well.
I like these new Savages allot. Nice bbl weight good stock & nice price. Love that they offer so many calibers too!
    Couple things:
Brand new gun shouldn't be judged till its got a few boxes tbru it.
    2) Did ya check all screws?
If not, I suggest removing all base screws. Degreasing screws & holes. Apply good thread locker and re attach to faster torque specs. Then action screws clean the same way. That stock should be pillar bedded. So torque screws to at least 50 inch pounds.
Number of years ago, Savage switched to #8 acrews. Many bases on market have #6 screws. So ask dealer/manufacturer to eb sure you get proper screws with your new base. I recommend Leupold or EGW.
When installing rings, slide FORWARD then torque down.
Last clean barrel keep clean at least till you get thru that first 100 rounds.
Good luck Brother!! ( I have a few videos on this if ya think it would help ya)
    God bless❤🙏🙏

It was definitely the rings! But after cleaning and a few more rounds through it the bolt loosened up and felt much better!

I purchased the same model in 6.5 prc. After about $200 additional spent on ammo testing, I bore scoped my barrel an omg! It was like looking down a washboard, and I'm not talking showdowing like on unlapped barrels. these were deep grooves cut all the way down into the lands. I couldn't believe this rifle made it past QC if that's something they still actually believe in these days. Sadly, customer service hasn't been much help. I sent my rifle back for repairs in October and just a few days ago I was told my rifle was not going to be able to be repaired nor is the same caliber available and would be months longer before I could get the replacement. Hope your accuracy problem is something simple so you don't have to go through the same thing.

Got one in 308 and sent it back in for chamber issues. The casing had a slight bulge on one side and ring all the way around. Been over 2 months now and it’s with their gunsmith. If it’s the same issue when I get it back I’ll get rid of it.

Shooo! I hate that. I hope rings will fix mine. I am having a very similar problem with Howa on a Gamepro 2 in 300 win mag. They are saying atleast 6 months wait for repair. Thanks for watching and I hope that you will come back, subscribe and share. God bless

Man I hate that. I have had my share of dealings with customer service with rifles not functioning properly. I still have a Howa gamepro 2 300 win mag at their shop being fixed. They have been the worse so far, as Ruger has been the best. I just released the follow up video on this rifle. Thanks for watching and commenting! God bless

This is the most common reason for inaccuracy. Always check everything on your guns before blame.

I just bought a Trail Hunter in 7PRC.
I had to buy a rail for it. Long action mounts that came with the gun are crazy far apart.
I got a weaver base and some cheap monstrum rings . Mistake I had to send the rings back. Was looking for weaver ring 30mm local and couldn’t find any. Found some warne ring for weaver rail at Academy.
Shooting good now but it was frustrating.

Change your base mount to a one piece picatinny rail. Lots of adjustment. Also scope rings must be picatinny with the proper cross bolt for a tight fit. I see a lot of people mount regular rings on a picatinny rail and the gun shoots all over the place. Regular rings do not work the cross bolt isn’t wide enough and move all over the place after a few shots.

Yeah I wish I had taken the time to find the one peace but wanted to hurry back to the range to give a follow-up on the gun.

As far as the eye relief issue just order a rail and replace the scope base. You have a 110 and there is tons of aftermarket companies that make 0-40 moa rails but if you’re not shooting long range 0 moa rail will work fine.

I appreciate that. I wanted to get this rifle back to the range. I looked locally including bass pro about an hour away. They didn't have the one piece with the right thread pattern. But the new video is up with rings that work! Thanks for watching and commenting! God bless

Thank for the video man I’ve had that same thing happen to me before few years ago. You may also want to make sure the barrel isn’t touching the stock while in the shooting rest. Keep up the good work God bless

Just looking at 110 hunter and stumbled on your video. My question for you is how did you get that alpha shooting rest fixed without the abnormally large shoulder pad sticking straight up. Great rest mine has been in closet because I don’t like the shoulder pad. Your ideal seems to work. Please help me fix mine.

I have a trail hunter I 7mm-08 and a howa 6.5 grendel. Both guns do not like hornady sst bullets

I am a 7mm-08 fan! 1 of my favorite calibers for the east coast hard woods. I have taken a lot of deer with 7mm-08 just using core-lokt bullets but I'm really liking the copper bullets the more a test them. I was really impressed with the 6.5 Grindel after my test! Thank you for watching and commenting! God bless

The bases are the same width and the rings are the same dimension except for the size of the slot on the base and the bolt on the ring...nothing to due with width. Also, if you push the rings hard forward in the slot and properly tighten them you really shouldn't have and issue. Even Pic to Pic with the larger slot and bolt there is still room for movement and you still need to push the rings forward against the front of the slot.

Overall after getting rings that fit better it did well. They should have put a one piece base on them.

Get a DNZ game reaper mount. Scope rings are silly, they are bot durable and they never align properly.

    • @stephencooper5040
      @stephencooper5040 Před 2 měsíci +1

This is just incorrect. The accuracy that is possible with modern CNC machining is far beyond what was possible even just 10 years ago. The thing is, quality is not free. A good set of rings from a good scope company that employs good machinists who are using modern tools will be every bit as accurate as a one piece mount, when installed and torqued properly.

    • @bcjdwbiernfjherwfbowfib
      @bcjdwbiernfjherwfbowfib Před 2 měsíci

@stephencooper5040 Grab 2 rods that are precision machined to the thousanth of an inch. Mount them in youre scope rings. Most of the time they do not line up. Have you tried that? Why would you not use a 1 piece mount? Less moving parts, more solid, and the ring holes are machined at once so its guaranteed to line up. Genuinely curious what advantages 2 piece rings have.
