- ✅ While you can't find the specific owner of an IP address, there are a few tools to see what IP-related information you can get.
It’s not possible to find out who is using a specific IP address without the aid of law enforcement. There are services, including whois, reverse DNS, Geo-IP, and IP-sharing lookups, that can provide some information about an IP address. To go beyond that point, you need the assistance of the ISP owning the IP address, and to get that, you likely need law enforcement or the courts to get them to release otherwise private information.

What you can find, how to find it, and what you can and can’t do with it.
Leo I opened a FB account to reach my daughter. And it was acting very strange I would delete a post it would come back up.There was an album of my personal photos at the top I didn't mak
it is possible to trace some one down to there city with an ip but you cant go any further. if they lived in a small town it would still show the city that is closest to the person
Interesting, but mainly makes me feel safer.
So when using some of the tools within kali Linux I can usually find out who the person is. Are you talking about a specific scenario where you can't or what?
I was Playing League of Legends with a friend of mine, and one of the players on the other team, commented "how's it going in Denmark, ('my friends full name')? ", how could that be explained?
it is possible to trace some one down to there city with an ip but you cant go any further. if they lived in a small town it would still show the city that is closest to the person. but sorry i dont know how he got his name ?
I’ve seen a video of someone playing a video game online but they start being racially abused, the guy being abused picks his phone up and 10 minutes later he knows the guys real name address and phone number how is that even possible?
Sounds like a TV show. There's more to it than the IP address, this I can guaratee.
Is it possible to do this with a iPhone?
I'm thinking you didn't watch the video.
@askleonotenboom Sorry what I mean is, can the right person/people identify who owns an iPhone? I had one hack my email and social media account, the police don't want to take any action
@@XionGaming2912 Same answer as in the video. While theoretically possible, the police would have to be involved.
I’ve had my identity stolen, and I only have their ip address
yup, someone is trying to hack my amazon account and i was trying to figure the origins of the ip adress but....i guess not
The average person can't, so who can be able to get my name and exact location through my IP address? Foreign obsessive and dictator government for example? Thanks.
Addressed in the video.
@@askleonotenboom
you mentioned the fed but what about foreign gov'ts? I know that US fed has authority over google but what about the foreigners?
@@user-hc7wh7lk9g People in countries where governments are more authoritarian are always at higher risk.
A person using a VPN+TOR would complicate matters even for law enforcement.
Yup. Interestingly, though, we've heard of some cases where they've still been able to be identified. It's a LOT of work for law enforcement, and relies on some poor decisions (and/or compromised TOR exit nodes), but it's been done.
What about gore site
Rad content
someone claiming to be my bank called me, scammed all my money from my bank transferred all my money, they created a new bank account with the same bank under my name, they sent me phony emails from “my bank” can they trace what location these changes were made online? i want to find out who did this to me and win my case!!!!! they also updated my password on their end :(
You need to get law enforcement involved.
I care. Some moron keeps trying to login to my email. They can’t because of my 2FA but I wish I could find and call them lol
This can’t be entirely true. If this is the case, how does swatting happen?
Usually by other leaked data. Generally the IP address is only a small part of what's used, if it's used at all.
How do I find an ip address
Depends on what you're trying to accomplish.
@@askleonotenboom Leo Hi, I am trying to find the ip address of an email that was sent to me and then trying to find the approximate geographic location of the ip address
@@amelianarcisi1840 This MAY NOT be available. You'll need to check the normally hidden headers that are included in the email, and then understand which, if any, refer to the IP address of the sender. This information is not always available. HOW you look at the hidden headers depends on what email program you use.
You got a Dutch name man
I care who owns the IP address for 1 reason, to stop hacking other accounts
It won't help.
I want to find who hacked my facebook account
Very UNLIKELY you'll ever be able to. Move on.
Someone stole my itune gift card and my mom itune account
