In this video, we’ll review plate carrier vests and body armor from the bottom of the budget barrel all the way up to Mil-Spec vests ready for combat.
Do you know what’s amazing? Armor and plate carriers and how incredible they’ve become. It’s a fascinating world.
In recent years, the plate carrier game has changed dramatically. These nifty pieces of gear got smaller, lighter, and more maneuverable.
Comfortable, customizable, and - most importantly - combat-ready, these high-performance tactical plate carriers guarantee superior protection for the modern fighter, and are much sought after by officials in law enforcement and the military alike.
While I would love to insert my own bias into what I think is the best, I shoved that aside and collected models serving alongside police and military forces worldwide. So, keep watching if you’re in search of the perfect plate carrier to pair with your plates.

I just finished setting up my JPC 2.0 for field use, M249 setup, and I love it. Super lightweight, very comfortable, and extremely comfortable. With this having been said, I have a couple of suggestions for modifications for people intending to use it for extended periods of time (as it can get uncomfortable).
    1.) Shoulder Pads: Necessary
The shoulder pads that come with the JPC are little more than sleeves meant to cover the doffing system integrated into the carrier. They chafe after a while, especially when you add plates into the mix (of which I had all 4 plates in at the time). I replaced them with HSGI Gel shoulder pads.
    2.) Plate Backers: Necessary
Most IOTV’s (Improved Outer Tactical Vests) I’ve used in the past have had some form of padding or buffer on the inside of the plate bags where it makes contact with your body, however, the JPC 2.0 does not. When adding in ESAPI or Swimmer Plates (swimmer plates especially) they push up against my rib cage a lot, causing discomfort in the prone or for extended use. T-Rex Arms makes a set of plate backers that are literally just foam plates that create a comfortable and breathable buffer, for a very affordable cost.
    Improved Doffing System: Use dependent
The doffing system can be kind of finicky, and isn’t as streamlined as the ones present in Army Issued Carrier Systems. While I do not currently have one installed, I’ve been looking into a system that would update the doffing system comprised entirely of Velcro with that of slider tubes and clips. The reason behind this primarily for me would be in case I was injured in combat, and for CLS purposes my kit had to be expediently removed. Now, my armor would definitely be able to be removed, but I would want to make sure that my medic wouldn’t decide to cut the shoulder straps (rendering the kit useless) over having a more expedient route of removal.
Things to think about if you’re in the military and considering the JPC 2.0.

Ehh, not sure why anyone in a normal unit would buy a plate carrier out of their own pocket.
I had two separate IOTVs and a plate carrier that were issued normally. As a former 68w there's a reason you wear your issued gear, uniformity. Your issued gear has the quick release system built in, and can be replaced if damaged. Most of your kit should be following your units SOP, especially IFAK placement. Literally no point in buying expensive shit just for ftxs, if you get orders you'll be issued better gear. Don't be the high-speed Andy that spends too much money on tacticool shit.

@@josh4429 Because IOTV’s limit mobility without providing any extra protection. I have 3 army issued IOTV’s. I have one of the UCP ones, the Gen IV IOTV, and the MSV Gen II. The MSV was a solid IOTV, but it’s still to bulky for what it needs to do. As an 11B, I find value in cutting weight where possible, and since I’m in the 82nd, have been on 2 no-notice IRF Deployments, and have a very rigorous training schedule, it is cost effective for me to make a personal upgrade.

@@The_Black_Falchion I was also in the 82nd, blows that you weren't issued a plate carrier. Hopefully you were actually issued TAPs. Jumping into ftxs while being able to wear a plate carrier or taps made sitting at green ramp for hours upon hours so much more bearable.
Well have fun with all the green corvettes while being on GRF. Hopefully there won't ever be a true combat jump in your future

I would like to say you cannot go wrong with any carrier if you are still rocking IOTV !!! Swap that stuff for any rig on this video and its a win. If weight is an issue for you(Mainly speaking to smaller woman) try swapping your steel plates for composite plates. They generally weigh less, also just another tip, plan your water weight ! One gallon of water generally weighs 8.3-8.4 pounds alone. So you may be carrying excess of 34 pounds of water alone :) Also always have extra socks

I have put both of these set ups thru hell and back and they have never let me down and have dam near been in every situation you could imagine down range. Gotta say I will only use these set ups as no rips or stitching tears or bungee rips or anything for that matter. For me they have performed and lasted thru all types of weather and just quality all around.

Not true. Weather you like it or not, AR500 is indeed one of the most popular brands with a big fanbase that provide reputable feedback. Not saying its the best quality out there but thats what happens when you go for affordable gear.

@@MrSwaggerLlama no, it doesn't work, that's the point. Steel armor is fucking awful, and to date there have been no effective spall coatings that reliably and consistently stop fragmentation. That's besides the fact that ceramic is far lighter and just as affordable now
