    For people who haven't heard of Jane before, she is actually a pop singer

      EastWest Video Clearly, as classical singers don’t sing with microphones in hand. She’s obviously a pop singer. 🙄If they have a outdoor concert the mike is usually set on the stage or pinned. I was aghast when seeing the microphone and an orchestra. If her voice were big enough she wouldn’t need it.

    • @CRFIDJ9K
      @CRFIDJ9K Před 4 lety +9

      @@lunetelalune2783 Opera singers use microphones quite regularly. Opera being the one that needs the least sound amplification, yet still very often use them embedded in the stage or clothes. No, they don't particularly need them for the most part, and it's certainly not seen in classical opera halls(where the building is literally built to carry projection), but they do use them pretty often. Especially in broadway halls or the extra large ones. Opera being the MOST classical of singing, but not the only kind mind you. Also, it has literally nothing to do with a "big" voice(which trust me, almost EVERY professional singer can sing over an orchestra without Sound Amp if they want to), it has to do with WHERE the song lies and how she sang it. Most Opera singers have a reduced range they can sing in live performances because of the technique needed to get the louder harmonic resonance they use to project properly. Majority of the time they literally cannot sing a song that goes more than 4~6 notes out of their tessitura, sometimes not even 2 notes out, and cannot sing soft tones if they expect to reach the back row.
      Also, the entire orchestra is using microphones, which means that it's most likely a choice of wanting the softness to shine through to the back row. Actually the reason broadway uses mics despite damn near none of their actors or singers needing them!
      Theater is neat x3

    The vocals in The Fifth Element were provided by Inva Mula. She claimed that the song, as written, was impossible to sing because of how quickly one needed to shift between high and low notes. Notes were recorded individually and spliced together to create the vocals for the scene.

    She removes the ear pieces because she moves in front of the orchestra's monitors, and she is now singing of the timing of the "grave" band. I do belive you can still find Jane Zhang practice sessions to perform this song where she is singing from a "plank" position to exercise her stomach muscles. Really cool performance

    • @wendydelisse9778
      @wendydelisse9778 Před 3 lety

      Yes, there is at least one remaining video on CZcams showing Jane Zhang practicing the "5th Element" impossible song while doing a plank.
      There were most likely music copyright problems that caused the rest of the plank practice videos to disappear. It is a shame that those videos disappeared. Legally, though, it is a "gray" area whether those videos had more of an educational value of how a pop singer learned the impossible song from the movie "5th Element" to a professional performance level in just 3 months, or whether instead those videos were more about the song itself. A little bit of narration by a singing fitness expert would have clearly tipped the legal balance in favor of educational usefulness, but there was no such narration. Jane Zhang probably has original video footage made for self-training purposes. It would be nice if Jane Zhang and one or two or three singing fitness experts collaborated in producing a CZcams video that would be safe from copyright complaint.

    I don't think she is the original singer - she wasn't an opera singer either. She came to the scene in China from a talent show like a dozen years ago, and has been big in China ever since. She has her VEVO channel on CZcams and has sung a couple English songs, mostly pop. But she has nice little diversions now and then just for fun. I remember several years ago she sang "Concerto pour deux voix" in her concert or something. She's definitely one of the best voices the Chinese pop scene has to offer.

    Seeing the comment below, and i deeply feel ridiculous when someone compared a POP singer with a classical singer. I would say, of course, Dimash did very well, and he must do well in his own field as a classical singer. There is someone in the opera world I'd love you to check out, Valerie; a young Eastern European delight whose name is Patricia Janečková. She has a fair-sized repertoire under her belt, already, but one performance that really caught my eye (and ear) was her rendition of 'Les Oiseaux dans La Charmille'. Shimmery high notes refers to how she can sing her high notes soft and with a nice vibrato spin and then float down. It takes a lot of breath control for that to happen. Most singers either sing the high notes very loud or they attempt to sing the high notes soft but they lack the breath energy to control and sustain the notes.

    • @VocalSplendorStudios
      @VocalSplendorStudios  Před 3 lety +2

      The monitor has their music and voice in the mix through their ear piece. When you sing on a stage with a microphone you can't often hear yourself sing or the band well depending on where you are on the stage. If you can't hear the music and/or your own voice, you can end up singing out of tune or pushing your voice to sound louder. Big stars and productions usually have in-ear monitors that are wireless. There are also monitors that are on the floor, pointed like wedges, pointing at the singers. The problem with those old style monitors is that if you move around too much, you can't hear well enough unless you stand right in front of them. That's why most singers, especially if they dance, have moved to the in-ear monitors.

    Don't know how you can make a mistake like this. The most cursory of searching would've let you know who the original singer was. I fear your review was affected, as you probably began with a higher estimation of this singer than would otherwise have been the case.
    Let's face it. Zhang is not very good. Sure, compared to Jane Smith walking on the street, she's great. But, compared to world-class singers, she can't hold a candle. If she didn't look the way she does, she would garner nowhere near the kind of fanfare that she does.
    It must be tricky for reactors/reviewers to maintain their sense of integrity, conviction (if they ever had much of one) making these reaction videos. Because they mostly always have to be so sickeningly sweet about everyone, so diplomatic, lest they risk losing subscribers or worse. But, not everybody is a Dimash (not even Dimash is "Dimash" every performance, though he's far more consistent than most -- and the greatest are the ones who are at top form the most consistently) or So-Hyang, and not everyone should garner the same type of fawning review.
    This "Diva Dance" performance pales in comparison to Dimash's Bastau performance. Most other "Diva Dance" performances by Dimash himself pale in comparison to his Bastau performance (though, nowhere to the degree that this Zhang performance does). This performance does not deserve a glaring review. Yes, if in comparison to your local social hall performers, sure, but not in comparison to the highest levels in the world.
    Laura's (disneydiva7) cover actually is good. In fact, it could be argued that it is more faithful to the original than Dimash's. And, it's sung at a very high level. However, like substantially all human performances, it is decidedly "of human." You can never escape the sense of the limitations of "being human." Whereas with Dimash - and with So-Hyang - you can almost believe that "this can't be human." Dimash's Bastau "Diva Dance" exceeds the original. It sounds better than the original. And, this electronically-enhanced piece of music that was never supposed to be possible to be sung by a human actually sounds better with Dimash singing it. And, he does it with seeming ease. It is well within his capabilities, is the ever-present, astonishing awareness that you are left with, even as you watch it with your mouth agape.
    Well, anyhow, there that is.

      Omfg why does everyone have the need to compare those two ? Are you insecure about the talent of Dimash ? Are you afraid someone will say she is better than him ? They are equal, there renditions are just different. Dimash was powerful, Jane was graceful. That's all. Stop being rude. It's the ones like you, shitting on other singers just to make Dimash superior, that make people sick of Dimash...
      He has talent and so do the others.

      Dimash sucks he has a very narrow supported range and fans like you are why Dimash and his fandom are so hated. Everywhere Jane Zhang is mentioned there is a Dimash fan commenting Dimash is better, Dimash can't hold a candle get a life and stop being so pathetic.

      @@jzvr5842 Dimash does not suck in terms of vocal and if you don't know what support is don't throw causally say things like his supported range is small. He's well supported with most of his range. The poster's comment is really bad but what you said is just not factual.
