I hear you! My brother was on dialysis at 29 yrs old. Mum gave a kidney which eventual crapped out, Back on dialysis. Got a donated kidney and it eventually crapped out. Back on dialysis. As in “bring it on, I don’t need these shields and armour to fight you’. Alternatively it can be seen is he is returning to his own army camp after having fought a lot of enemies. Which would not make sense with the lyrics but just another funny way of looking at it as he strips while going back to his camp.

Cruelty practiced against surrendered foes only stiffens their comrade’s resolve not to surrender, making your task as conquerer more difficult and costly.
I would say that japanese soldiers or even modern samurais misunderstand musashi's work due to the time gap (and honestly many new books that does not do enough research), resolute acceptance of death should not mean throwing your life away foolishly and for no strategic importance, he also says in the same book "the way of strategy outlined in the ichi school is winning" .
musashi himself battled 60 death duels against accomplished samurais and never lost once.
if your death would have strategic importance to save your battalion from a certain defeat or death for ex,or turn the tide of the war. then yes its the right thing to do to die so that your nation may live.
and if you are going to be killed anyway, might as well, take many with you, or humiliate the enemy till their resolve is broken.

I dont know how u come up with these wisdoms...but Ive been pondering on one of my dreams of late, and I think I know how u know so much. In my dream, these kids (orphans of sorts) found me working alone in a field. They always interrupted me, but with pure truth. Id start to quote the prophets to them and they'd finish my words--they knew them perfectly. I see now (ive long believed) that there are many orphan kids of a sort on this earth today. Thats my bet and i put all my chips on it.
Ps...after they found me, they tiok me to their "house" to meet the elderly women who care for them, and then we all went back to the house where I was staying (which wasnt my house but the house of people I was staying with who had been away) and had a thanksgiving type dinner. Very impressionable, like I can still see it today. Thx

These are words spoken in the minds of warriors for thousands of years, each part is relative to the experiences they had both during battle and the "reception" they received after by both those they fought for and those they fought against. I find your mentioning of the Viking code very interesting due to the significance these words would have had on the Berserkers, and how the Vikings themselves innate fear of them that they steadily shunned their use which led to their eventually fading from the world in generations to come. Being a Viking isn't the pinnacle of ascension in their way of life cause a lot of individuals were Vikings, become a Berserker, the best warrior they had who was both feared and respect by all even among Vikings themselves.
