Been working with my dad who has taught me how to make furniture, the money i earned I have saved up, and used resources such as craigslist, local and online auctions, flea malls, local contacts and have been able to aquire pretty much everything I need to open my own shop, some of the things i did not skimp on was Miter saw, Table saw and a good surfacer/planer the rest are second hand. love your vids oi oi oi
How did you get into the "flea mall"!!!?? They are so small!!!!!
AaaaahahahahahahA...just kidding folks....I'm here all day.
seriously, an awesome video and the hallway table looks really classy, not too difficult to make.
That was a clip from my favorite Jesper moment!
Love the work mate, back to basics and still producing high quality products, true sign of a great craftsman!
Nicely done! Love how naturally your referencing to other makers are, you are such a world wide community maker!
Your positivity makes my day, I gotta say! I’ve been storing pallet wood for all summer now. Waiting for some spare time to start building something and make some extra cash but in the meantime I’m going to keep hoarding pallets and burning some for heat…winter is on its way
Hell yeah Mark!! Great build with basic tools. Good luck on the sale of this beauty!!
Fantastic video. Very inspirational and informative. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge 👍👍
Watching your videos has rekindled my childhood love for wood.. Going shopping at weekend to pick up some tools and to have a play :)
I love it. Considering I’m a noobie and have only basic tools, this is the video for me. Thanks a bunch! 🎉🎉
great work Mark. The head job with the vacuum appealed to my sense of humour. your videos are certainly an inspiration.
Thanks for making this video. This is great for those of use with only a few starter tools .
Brilliant one Mark. I made one of those straightening jigs. I learned that if the edge isn't flat, nothing will be 😁
I might have another crack. Cheers.
Love your videos!!! Very helpful .Thanks Mate!
Excellent thanks Mark - gotta try one of these - they look so cool.
Love it! Also love all these little cameo colabs! 😆😆You know what those little blocks are perfect for? Making rustic fall pumpkins! They are super cute and then you use every piece!
Great balance of humor and useful info while being productive!
Funniest banter, useful video too. Im in the middle of a different pallet project (pirate treasure chest) and intend to try your basic table from here soon. Thanks mate!
Binge watching now sir....killer show
Love it.
I Am in the process of making a work shop for myself and will be making these tables so that I can get some extra cash to buy some power tools. Chop saw will be 1st on the list. Also a belt sander too. Keep up the good vids dude!!! I use the small blocks as feet on veg planters.
Great style and the table looked good too. Enjoyable as ever.
Great video my friend! It’s been awhile since I watched one of your videos. Glad to be back. Keep up the good work!
Just broke down my first pallets and drew up plans for a shoe bench and shelf. Thanks for all your videos and tips!!!
Oh that’s a good idea..
post the video Jay- sounds interesting!
do you know what types of products were on the pallets and if any harmful chemicals were absorbed by the pallet?
@@jZamora87 ..Was thinking the same thing.
Man that guy at 3:46 is quite the looker! How did you convince him to cameo in your video?
Love it
Thanks so much for all you share!! I've been learning so much. You're inspiring a wee desk jockey to try and make a few bits and bobs! I'm going to try and make a few things for x-mas presents this year haha for family members.
Glad i found your channel . . . You are a pretty awesome dude. Gonna watch more
I love the facial expression! Talking about "modern glue is a magical thing!"😎Yes it is.! And, by Golly, it can and will hide great multitude of sins.!
Where the hell had this channel been when I started about a year and a half I could only find the vids using all the fancy tools.
I started out with a $50 table saw that I found in an ALDI bargain. A 20-year-old drop saw a couple of power.
This video would have been so helpful back when I first started..
Keep making videos
Mark, I... had an idea. Tie a binder clip to your dust collection hose a ways back from your power tool. Use the binder clip to lift the power cord and hold it off the work surface. This may require more than one binder clip depending on cord length and the source locations of power and dust collection but might be worth a try.
1am in UK, beer in hand browsing CZcams. Laughing my head off at this. Especially the arty sander waft. Brilliant. Keep it up! 👌 I must get round to a compressor and that bloody ‘anti nail gun’.
I don’t subscribe to anyone’s channel like at all until now. I like your videos and enjoy watching them.
You are a riot! Very refreshing. Thanks. Your newest subscriber. B
Cool video mate the table looks great 👍
You are SO Aussie!! A sauce bottle for the glue and a spatula 🤣🤣 to spread it - love it!! Keep the vids coming.
Truest video on CZcams. I appreciate more than you know brother. I'm in the same spot. Selling wooden flags to buy a jointer lol
Great video mark, heaps of info….
Did I see a rear handle dewalt saw snuck in there
I appreciate the pallet king's ideas. These are good guiding ideas. Looks like Jesper was your inspiration :-) All the best. I wish a nice Sunday. It was monday there :-)
@@dainermade I always enjoy watching the videos of the pallet king. I wish you a nice new week.
Love your glue spreader - might be a problem for me on baking day though
I love your videos. I almost quit woodworking.
I made a small wooden mallet out of one the blocks. It has cool coloring, it’s from some crate/pallet from Vietnam very contrasting colors.
I am bingeing on your videos. This one was particularly fine with a kg bar of chocolate and 12 bottles of champagne; whilst surrounded by my huge pile of pallet blocks that I erected as an altar in celebration of your channel. The high priestess comes and turns a few of them over daily with the special chant of "do you really need all this junk?".
Mark don't stop making your cracking content or I might have to go to rehab...
Useful advice here about building any type of business.
This guy is a nut! I had to sub to see more of his shenanigans.
Youre damn right hilarious man. Awesome video! Looking forward to checking out your channel and catching new videos
Hola! 🖐Good on you for turning a negative, tools fading away, into a GREAT positive, such as making this video AND making more furniture to generate the cash💵 to replace your tools! I find that refreshing and inspirational, work hard get results - love that! I hope some manufacturers get wise and work something out with you, that would be a win for everyone! Take care and have a good one, Adios!👊
@@dainermade 🤞
g'day from Canadia, great vids! Which bit do you use on the router for the flattening with the sled? Cheers!
Totally inspiring!
@@dainermade You remind me of an awesome US guy Greg Chism who taught people a decade ago to go buy a lawnmower, print flyers and build a gardening business.
@@dainermade Oh no! You have given me a bug! I can't drive anywhere now without an extra eye for pallets! Greetz from a Pommie Barsteward in Germany. I love Oz and have relatives down there!
As always, great video, Mark! Fully planning to steal most of your strategies and probably even a few catch phrases… Check Square! 🎉🎉😂
This video made me my first money from woodworking thanks so much
You and Jesper should get together at some point and make some epic pallet build together 😍
I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who’ll love that
Get pumping some more sick furniture, and you’ll be here in Europe in no time, mate 🙌
@@dainermade ad watch that 2 pallet Vikings together well 1 Viking and 1 well dunno what we could crown mark as? King pallet the first?? 😲🏴👍
@@dainermade naa I'll come to you!
@@JesperMakes honestly Jasper youd melt going over there and to be fair you've the better shop anyway but we won't tell mark that. 👍🏴
@@dainermade think you should go to him oh no wait you can't do anything less than 20°c use should come to proper country like Scotland 👍😁
Love your videos!!!! As a poor woodworker starting out, I would really appreciate if you did a video on building your jigs. Sort of a step by step for the slow folks like me. :)
Keep up the great work!!
@@dainermade Hi Justin, I second the thought on the jigs - I would love a video on all the jigs you have made and how you made, use and set them up 🙂
Thanks for the videos man! I’ve been inspired to make a hallway table because of you
Good stuff!
Great video, as always, Mark, so many great little touches. Not sure how many of the tool deaths were true-to-life vs. dramatic effect but please tell me you didn't let a sander die just for sanding through the cord - that's what electrical tape is for! (Done it three or four times myself on my circular saw.) I'm hoping that was just to motivate the protagonist of the story...
i love your videos!!! im trying to make my first hallway table to get some money for more tools :))
That edge jig is a bloody good idea might make one that can do both sides parallel then skip the router sled step. Anyway just thinking out loud 😂
Hey Mark love your channel bro. Any chance you might be able to do a more detailed step by step vid of your hallway table build. I’m a decent woodworker and want to get started on pallet hallway tables. Thanks if u can bro!
What a legend😊
Binge-watching in progress
I keep coming back to this video it is great! Hey Mr Made what is that gravy you use? I figured it's not really gravy
Edit to change granny to gravy
Nice work
Thank you for the time estimates, and I wish more makers would include a task timer in the corner or something. 3 seconds of sanding footage is all well and good for narrative pacing, but the extra context does help us appreciate all the effort you're putting in offscreen...
...plus it was a rude shock the first time I finally took all that CZcams-inspo into my own backyard (live-edge camphor laurel slab desk for a friend) and realised that those 3 seconds were actually more like 2-4 hours of mindnumbing tedium babysitting the orbital 😅
Camphor Laurel live edge , beautiful! I have the same in a big dining table with bench seats , its one of my most loved things! Cheers Tony.
Good stuff. I did woodworking / making as a full time business and never got a table saw. for me I didnt have the room in the workshop.
@@dainermade Made do with a good bandsaw and circular saw. Also making rustic or live edge furniture helps I guess
do you use softwood as well? it looked liike the one you were taking apart was.
@@dainermade okay thanks for the input im not too educateed on types of wood yet, i was under the impression that only hardwood pallets were worth using.
Amazing work, making something like this for the house! One question : what router bit do you use? My planer shit itself recently and I have no router experience!
Great video, thanks! What did you put on the top? Was it a stain or thinned down paint?
@@dainermade Thanks so much for the reply!
man i was really looking forward to seeing pallet blocks 🤣 great video mate, hate your saw took a shit 😒
Hi Mark, as usual very inspirational sorry to hear about your Saw hope it can be repaired, but you got a triple whammy, router, belt sander don't they say it comes in threes now that's out of the way can't wait to see what you create next
My immaturity shown through multiple times but none better than 3:08 when you farted trying to tighten the clamps. Hilarious! Thank you for that. Made my day.
I live your videos
How did you kill most of your tools at the same time???? Love the diy straightener jig though!!
Is there a video that shows you making the straightening jig?
I love your videos! Would you.provide the dimensions of the table? I am a Newby, and I'm starting with pallets because I want to build some skill before I waste money messing up expensive wood. Thank you, keep making the videos, they are fun to watch!
Thank you for such a quick response. I have messaged other youtubers and have often gotten ignored, or maybe they didn't read my question. I appreciate it.
Hi Mark , love your work I do the same thing with pallet timber but all my proceeds go to animal rescue centres through out Australia. Where did you get the denailing gun? , regards Grahame
nothing like some beard care with the vacuum, u must have clogged up ur dust extraction system with that one 😂 good job on the work around with busted tools and build time 👊🙏
Nice mate
Hey Mark, given what happened to the table saw and router so the question is when you first bought them what was your criteria to choose them?.
Only $28k worth of gear now Dainsey 😁. I actually thought about turning those pallet blocks on the lathe, I might still and see what I can come up with. Anyway mate keep up the good work. All the best.
Fantastic vid, thanks! What was the final dimensions of the top? Got some long pallet boards and trying to figure out what length to cut them down to..
@@dainermade only took me a few weeks but finally finished making this as my first pallet project. Thanks for the inspiration!
haha, you was the 1st one to make me smile all night and i been watching ALL night, it was when you said the best way you can help me is Binge watching MY channel, lol you made me smile, 1st time tonight from a youtuber, good job!
I love this. (Although I loved it more with the unpainted legs)
Cheers mate 🫡
G'Day mate, what bit do you use in the palm router?
@@dainermade legend, thanks mate!
Hi Mark - I have this video on repeat here at the moment. Very help, thank you. 🙂 The Makita router you have on your router sled, is it a 1/4 or 1/2 inch one? I’m saving up don’t want to buy one that’s not up to the job. 😅Sending much appreciation from the UK.
Love the vids, keen on getting cracking on making some furniture!
For any punters in the comments looking for an exact list of the tools used in this video I whipped this one up and probably forgot heaps:
- Nail remover hand tool
- Circular Saw with Square
- Square(s)
- Straight edge
- Belt Sander
- Orbital Sander
- Plane
- Pipe Clamps
- Mitre Saw
- Palm Router
- Router Sled
- Chisle
Nice mate and thank you
Can you make a video on that straight edge pallet jig 🙏
Okay... hold my hand here (not in a girly way!). I got a pallet, an old jigsaw, not even a circular saw yet, not even a router (I do have a belt sander though), some clamps, and some ideas. In my hall we have a shoe problem! I can however maybe use my lawnmowing money to put towards some new gear - a few hundred Euros circa 300 Euros. What would you advise? A table top saw? A hand circular saw? A router? I'm thinking of a 3 layer shoe shelf to start. I can get "Ht" pallets from a buddy who owns a shop btw.
New subscriber here...Would you recommend that little Blackridge compressor? And did you make your pallet breaking tool? Love your channel...
Good stuff Bro. I can't wait to see what you do with those cut off skateboard noses and tails on the shelf. Today was my first time seeing your channel and its great. Keep up the good work dude!!!
Cheers mate! I have done many things already with those haha
yessir, I see that now and finally caught up with your videos. Keep up the good work brotherman.@@dainermade
I fairly new to woodworking, using basic power tools. Had a router given to me, never used one. What bit do you use flattening the slats?
Got to love your humer Mark sir lol
I like to save the blocks to use to sit stuff on that you don't want right on the ground
Have a sparky check your tools out once you get a good collection of old ones, half the time its just soldering on the 3/2 prong to the wiring eroded from heat over years from long extended use, could even fix your butchered belt sander.
@@dainermade no problem I can relate
, sincerely a tight arse who doesn't like buying new tools
Gday, Mark! I was digging around through your affiliate links for your hand plane, but didn't see it anywhere. May I ask what brand/model you use? My arsenal is coming together, but I am still lacking a serviceable hand plane. I love your work and am absolutely hooked on your videos. Thanks for sharing all your hard work, knowledge, tips and tricks!
love the gonzo sticker on your cabinet on the wall, i went to hunter thompson's house in aspen a couple years ago, was cool to see
What saw blade are you using in your circular saw ?
Tumbs up! ❤️👍
Hi, been watching your stuff for a bit. I bought a de nailer and the second nail i did got stuck in the end of it. has this happened to you and do you know how to fix it? Thanks
Damnit Man! I dropped phone, crying laughing, wife wants to know what the hell's going on in bathroom.
I was out today and literally counting the pallets that where lying next the streets. My wife was eying me suspiciously ^^
Beautiful stuff! I bet that table would make a nice looking mini pallet! So how big is that hall table. It looks like it's pretty tall but not so deep? Would that be sort of like a coffee bar thing that you would put your coffee machine on? Or like your keys and mail and junk
@@dainermade I made it finally! Thanks for your video and your most recent video of just getting started, it really helped me to...just get started. I only had a circular saw, detail sander and drill but it turned out pretty good! The problem I had was the legs the pallet wood I used had some parts of it that were thicker on one end of the board on the face. How would you recommend dealing with that? Just sand the heck out of it before I glue them or afterwards
