As a solid carnivore, who doesn't hang out with many vegans, typically I'm like "I'll have the meat, and this meat, and this meat, and this meat... bit of this over here, some rice, and mac and cheese counts as a vegetable right?" I never tried different food until I was 18 or 19. I went to mexican places and had cheeseburgers. One day I tried smoking pot with a friend from work.... and he ended up going to an indian restaurant without me while I tried to come back down at his house. They came back with left overs and one of the things they had were those deserts he had. I tried to describe them to people for the last 10 years.... "its a fried dough ball with maple syrup on it. it explodes in your mouth". No one ever knew wtf I was talking about.

    My best friend when I was 7-8 who moved here with his family from India? That doughnut thing in the sweet sauce that you’ve eaten at least a couple of times in India? His mom made it & I was in love with it. All of my Indian friends as an adult had never heard of it or knew what I was talking about. I’m so relieved to know it exists, I’m not crazy & that I might be able to eat it again

    People often says that India is poor as their middle class has average income of 10,000 dollar per annum which isn't huge as compared to western nations. But lemme explain them that cost of living india is ways more cheaper than it would be in any western nation. So we get our salaries according to it. If india would have high cost of living then definitely we would have been getting salaries according to it. 😂
    Apart from 5 star hotel's buffet every other restaurants offer meals at approximately that price only 10 to 12 USD. Even buffet in 5 star hotels will cost around 2500 to 3000 INR which translates to 40 to 50 USD. 😋
    We are self dependent on producing our own food products. So prices are always reasonable. 😉

    • @nayankalitadualcitizen
      @nayankalitadualcitizen Před 5 lety +2

      Nope, India ranks somewhere just below middle of the HDI scale, we still have some way to go before we can be classified as High HDI. And developed or developing countries are based on HDI. If it was based purely based on average income, i think western European countries could wipe the floor with everyone and US/Canada would be somewhere just above the middle of the scale.

    • @jyotiradityasatpathy3546
      @jyotiradityasatpathy3546 Před 5 lety

      nayan kalita agreed. But the US act like their country us at the top of everything, even income. European countries would definitely destroy them. In terms of HDI, India is crawling its way up. Education has been made available to all, even though there are still a few ppl who don't use it

    • @nayankalitadualcitizen
      @nayankalitadualcitizen Před 5 lety

    You wouldn't even be able to buy the ingredients here in New Zealand for 10 American dollars. The cost of meat, fruit and vegetables here has gone up quite a bit. We have a big problem with obesity here and I think in part it's because it can be cheaper to buy unhealthy food but also there is a lack of knowledge about what is healthy to eat. This place was such a great deal for food that is fresh and the waiters seemed only too pleased to serve you. We don't have too many buffet restaurants here but most are at least 20 American dollars and the food is not really fresh. Well that's my experience anyway. We don't seem to have the turnover of food that a buffet requires.

      Amy Rivers it's a shame how much mutton is available, but no mutton curry? I'm kind if envious of Indias' food culture.

    • @Kaptain_Obvious_26
      @Kaptain_Obvious_26 Před 6 lety +8

      The wages in India are in general far lower when compared to a country like New Zealand, thus the prices are lower. 10$ in India is almost equivalent to 30$ in New Zealand. So it isn't as cheap as it may seem to you. The ingredients are amazingly fresh though.
