As you're all aware. I spend too much money on gym equipment, and this is a perfect example.
I found out UCONN was selling some of their hardly used equipment and in order to order it, I had to buy it all. So, I did. And today, we'll open it together.

You should have added how you find that kind of thing. I haven't tried looking yet, but I'm sure there are videos on how to find gyms going out of business or schools upgrading or whatever, but that is definitely a topic that would be nice to see specifically you talk about

I can help as I have been buying from universities, colleges, and high schools for over a decade. Every major university has a process for property disposition. It is really good to know how the universities near you dispose of athletic equipment. In my case the University of Michigan and Michigan State University both have their own websites. Eastern Michigan University uses a website called Public Surplus and Craigslist. Concordia University uses Craigslist.

Exactly. What a waste of money. That equipment was still in good condition. Imagine how many scholarships they could have funded with all the money they spent on that new gym equipment.
I live in CT UConn wastes billions. This equipment is perfect. And their sports programs loses like 8 million a year.

Yes but unlike a lot of high end cars these will actually hold their value. The depreciation on luxury cars is staggering. Most don't appreciate unless it's something really special like say a Porsche 918, McLaren P1, etc. Even something like a Ferrari 430 is just an expensive used car.

Yo I actually go to UConn! I've never seen those Jonathan the Husky Watson dumbbells. I'm guessing they're from the old gym which is now more or less reserved for UConn athletes, which explains all the expensive equipment. The new gym has brand new equipment, so they're probably upgrading the old gym too. Great video as always.
They're from the basketball teams gym. They have a gym only for their use.

So, all your double ups on gear got me thinking; what would be your ideal gym setup if you could only have 1 brand and 1 set of everything and why??? i.e. 1x set of dumbbells, 1x squat rack, 1x barbell, 1x set of weight plates, etc. I'd definitely be interested in a video about that.
What is killing me is all that equipment was just 15 miles from where I live!! Also, as a CT taxpayer and employee, I wonder why UCONN is replacing what looks like practically brand new equipment.
Seriously. I love that Coop got more stuff for me to salivate over but shouldn’t UConn have first offered the stuff at a realistic price for their students and profs and staff, then to folks in the city, then to folks lime Coop. Of course it’s a lot easier to sell it all at once to one buyer.
Because they CAN. And the CT taxpayer will pay for the new stuff. No option.

Potomac State University (WVU) threw out a bunch of Hammer Strength stuff and even destroyed some of it first because they got new equipment. Absolute waste. Gym owner friend heard about it and did salvage a few pieces and they were not like new...but absolutely in good shape and there was no need to replace it in the first place...but there was no reason why it couldn't have been sold to the public or donated to a high school. Bullshit wasteful spending.

I have brought equipment from Concordia U, Eastern MI U, Indiana U, Detroit Mercy and 5 high schools in Michigan and Ohio. Sometimes they are just looking for someone reliable to move the gear out. They really don't care about the school making money.

Coop needs like an eBay equivalent on his website.... random new stuff he acquires that pops up for sale at the most random times. Coop should make some dollars on the sales but I certainly trust him not to price gouge anybody.

Does the University just sell it's 'old' equipment every few years or did they cut an entire athletics department from the roster? I can't imagine what would be an upgrade to Eleiko plates and Watson dumbbells.
Coming from a current student athlete at UConn, this equipment does not seem to come from our facilities (football and basketball have separate facilities and they don’t have the dumbbells, they use black iron adjustable dumbbells as well as the other training facilities. The bumper plates are all Eleiko plates but the dumbbells don’t match. Also 4 teams did get cut due to budget concerns this year. I’m not sure where this equipment is coming from, especially the dumbbells. Hope this helps!
Sell and possibly decrease funding? I doubt it. It's probably something unnecessary and wasteful.
Jesus Christ, I'm literally just planning on budgeting for my little home gym area with maybe 6 cheap plates that I can barely afford and this guy just got a fucking Eifel Tower made out of 30000 high quality Eleiko plates. Dude is living the life.
Here i am gathering materials to make concrete plates, that's a nice haul totally understand the excitement!

Yes it’s a shame they need to have million dollar locker rooms and workout facilities to attract the top talent. Then there’s the salaries of the coaches!! These are all from the UConn Basketball Teams' Training facility. I imagine they sold these after the men's team replaced Sal Alosi (the former S&C coach) a few seasons ago. He was the one to refurbish the facility's training center with a lot of this stuff.

@Hellseha that’s only because he is an adult male. He looks like all he does is review the equipment, which is exactly what his channel is about. He probably just donates or resells the equipment after each video because you can tell he sure as hell don’t use it. At least efficiently.
