The tarp is off, the weather is right, I am on vacation from work and I am Installing my first metal roof on the Alaska cabin!
This went much smoother than I expected but I will tell you now...I have never hurt so much in my life as I did the days following this install! every single muscle and joint in my body was screaming at me! hahaaahaha
I am a complete novice builder who grew up in sunny California and thought it would be an awesome idea to build my own off grid cabin on raw land in Alaska...what could go wrong?
I have never built a thing in my life so why not a house? OH! and I can live in a trailer while I do it....and work full time! Did I mention that I am out of shape, over weight and 60? What could go wrong?

Sean, As a professional contractor, from the videos I have had the opportunity to watch I think you have done a pretty good job on your cabin. I would have done a couple things differently but I’m sure you have figured things out. I use metal siding and roofing quite often on commercial construction and the only thing I would have done is use a Butyl Rubber tape on the ending edge of each panel meeting the next panel to insure no water intrusion. Other than that great job and great videos my friend!

Well, Sean become a project god on his own. This is why I'll sacrifice a cold beer today and pray for an insulated floor and wood stove for his temple.

Hey Sean, Glad to see that beautiful roof being sheeted with metal. I might need to pick that nipper attachment for my drill as well. Great to have some friends to help, and be helped. It was great sharing the Kenai, still haven’t found that perfect property yet. Anywho, the cabin looks pretty with the red roof. Cannot wait to see some wood smoke coming out of the chimney! Cheers!

Once the snow starts, we rarely get rain up here. I was pretty lucky that the tarp lasted all the same .
