This is rather lovely to wake up to! Piano and orchestral versions are equally delightful, the first more intimate and this Rabaud arrangement possibly more colourful. The composition was dedicated to Debussy's daughter, I believe.
Who could fail to love this suite. I just hope that little Helene appreciated the wonderful gift.

Any child born in the UK in the 1940s or 50s will recall that with pleasure. For most of us probably our first introduction to fine music.
Getting my wires crossed here! Helene/"Dolly" was Emma Bardac's daughter from her first marriage. Emma had an affair with Faure who wrote the suite for Helene. Emma subsequently had an affair with Debussy, whom she married. "Dolly" thus became Debussy's step-daughter. Debussy and Emma had their own daughter, Chouchou, for whom he wrote "Children's Corner". Rather convoluted, I know, but I had to clarify it all in my own mind as much as anything else!!! Composers and their love-lives, eh?
