You see I only just got into welding, as a matter of fact, I am still a spectator at the time of writing but now I can say I am confident in going into welding and choosing a welding machine because of this Video, I appreciate your effort in making this video.

  • @pabloricardodetarragon2649

15 years ago I bought for 100 USD an italian Telwin 100 Amp, a 125V which could be plugged on a common 15A plug so it was usable everywhere with 6013; 309 and 312 sticks. Excellent for light fabrication and reparations anywhere with a 15A plug. I gave it 5 years ago to a friend after burning hundreds of sticks, it works always flawlessly.
A trick, with these miniature inverters, stainless steel sticks as the the 309 and 312 are easier to use, with less heat and gives very good results, specially on 14 gauge galvanized tubing, as the welds are smooth, with minimal burn of the galvanization. No grinding needed as the "glass" pops by itself and the welds are nice.

thank you, it is extremely rare i make comments on CZcams but i really appreciate your review very detailed and extremely helpful, well presented thank you, i have been restricted to a wheelchair over the last few years and my mig welder has sat there for years not used as it just way to big and even on wheels it just not practical, and this sort of welder looks to be the sort of thing that i can use, that is easy to move about light and i will be getting something similar, the sip T1400 and will be looking forwards to being able to do some small welding jobs again. you are a star thank you so much i wish there were many more like you, you made clear all the info people could want, i would suggest maybe if you do any follow ups or similar items you demo welding a couple of bits together and show how well the weld reaches in to the metal, i know you said you are no welder but many people that have never welded will likely watch and be interested in how easy or hard you find it as a novice. anyway take care and thanks again.

Are the mains and secondary windings of the transformer not isolated from eachother? Dark and light copper wires seem to touch eachother. If that is the case, isolation is only from the coating on the copper wires. That can not be good. It's difficult to see from the video.

I bought one, the 120v version, and there is a screw on the back that is supposed to be used to connect a wire to ground the unit, I'm not sure why but the one in this video doesn't have it, maybe mine is newer. Also not sure why they didn't just include the ground wire with the other 2, I think maybe they got in trouble for not having it grounded so they just added the screw on the back to keep from getting sued. Having said that it does work pretty well for how cheap it is, though the amperage isn't quite as advertised, and it is difficult to strike an arc. Great deal for the money though.

I suspect that these boards are built on mass and then a "manufacturer" puts in in their own case and labels it. However I could be wrong. At any rate, mine does not provide the amperage it advertises (200) but it does weld pretty good.

@@ramblerssafarnaama4181 I have used it at 110V and 220v, While it does work at 110 volt, I have to increase the amperage on the dial in order to get the same kind of weld. I find it lacks the initial "Omph" to create the arc and sticks more often at 110v. I get better and more consitant result at 220v. For the 110v, I have a 30amp breaker available and at 220v, it is a 50 amp breaker. Do you find similar results?

  • @getyourwordsstraightjack5523

Got mine working today, first time welding. I noticed mine has a screw at the back near the power switch, it says in the manual that it is supposed to be used to connect a ground wire to the unit, which is an odd way of setting it up, as the wire would be housed independantly of the others. I noticed on yours that there is no such screw on the back. Mine is the 120v version. It is very difficult to strike an arc with it, it sticks to the metal a lot, but for $100 I got it, plus the grounding clamp wire and the electrode holder. Very good deal.

@@zumbazumba1 You are right. The old welders were solidly built with plenty of copper and really indestructible. But the Chinese want to build everthing the cheapest and having cheap labour, minimal materials used and government subsidisation results in equipment such as these inverters. They will last only as good as their manufacturer. Here in Australia we made excellent welders, and I believe all the makers have disappeared, replaced with container loads of Chinewse junk.

I am American. Our version is 120 volts and claims to give 80 Amps max. I'm not as pleased as I had hoped to be. I had good service from 1/8" 7018 rod, so far. Your voice is lovely to listen to, but the lack of crispness makes it hard for my old ears to understand. A pair of earphones sometimes cures this, so, I have no complaints.
