More than beauty, one important task of an architect which was not mentioned here is the planning and functionality of spaces--making sure that the user flow and space requirements needed by the client/users is met and achieved. Rooms and spaces are of the right size, layout of furniture is considered and natural ventilation and natural lighting is provided. These are clearly not in the scope of the engineers and is part of the architect's training and expertise.
If one would try to observe, houses built without consulting an architect are poorly planned, spaces are awkward, and rooms have poor natural light and ventilation. Consulting an architect in the inception of a project ensures that the money spent is maximized and the best design is provided to the client. So to answer the question to whom a client goes to for a project, it must be to the architect first, then to the engineers. This is the ideal sequence.
To proceed with a project with no architect as part of the team would be a COSTLY MISTAKE for it would result to your house/building to be not well-planned (in terms of lay-out of spaces) and no/minimal coordination between engineers resulting to mistakes, back-jobs and errors on site.
To summarize, it is the responsibility of the architect to orchestrate all the trades which are all equally important to the realization of the project. After coming up with floor plans, it is then coordinated with the structural, electrical, plumbing & sanitary, mechanical, interior design, landscape design consultants. We have worked well with these professionals for various projects and the cooperation among all these consultants results to a well-planned and well-built structure.
This comment by Cesar Ramirez, Jr. has to be pinned sir INGENIERO TV. He mentioned the proper sequencing and right scope of works by architects and civil engineers.
Based on your vlog sir na ang title ay kanino nga ba magpapagawa ng “PLANO” ng bahay, at ang sagot nyo sa vlog ay PAREHO (sa architects at civil engineers). Pero paano gagawa ng plano or disenyo ng ispasyo ng bahay ang civil engineers kung ang espesyalista nila ay pagpapatibay ng struktura? Paano maiidisenyo ni civil engineers at contractors ang halaga ng bawat ispasyo or bawat silid kung hindi nila ito sakop? Paano maiiguhit ang bahay na may konsidersyon sa kapaligiran (environment)? Paano nila maiipakita at maiipaliwanag sa kliyente ang mga konsiderasyon sa disenyo na may kinalaman sa character ng bawat miyembro ng pamilya? Paano magdidisenyo si contractors or civil engineers ng bahay na hindi makakaapekto sa kultura ng bawat lokasyon na pagtatayuan? Paano nila ipplano ang bahay na kumportable ang gagamit nito? Paano ikokonsider ni engineers or contractors ang pagdidisenyo ng tamang materyales (finishes) na may kinalaman sa epekto nito sa kapaligiran, klima (climate) at ekonomiya (local economy)? Paano magdidisenyo ng bahay na hindi mkakaapekto ng masama sa uri ng pamumuhay ng bawat pamilya at komunidad na nakapaligid dito?Paano maiidisenyo ang bahay na kinikonsider ang future in terms of socio-cultural, political, economic and technology na less impact sa natural environment.
Ilan lang po ito sa mga konsiderasyon sa pagdedesenyo ng ispasyo at tirahan. Malaking epekto po sa human at environment and disenyo ng ispasyo (space). Kasama po ng arkitekto ang mga ingeniero sa pagsulong ng tamang “built environment”. Mas maayos kung hahayaan natin ang bawat eksperto na gawin nila ang mga nakatakdang trabaho sa kanilang linya para sa ikagaganda at ikabubuti ng karamihan.
Hindi na ako lalayo, tingnan na lang natin ang Maynila. Puro polusyon, basura, madilim na daanan, nagkalat na side vendors, traffic, maingay, nkakatakot sa madaming lugar, mabaho, nagbabaha, mahal ang bilihin, nagsisiksikan na tao, nagsisiksikan na bahay, mahal na renta ng ispasyo, walang tamang pasilidad sa panahon ng sakuna etc..
Lahat ng ito ay may kinalaman sa pagdidisenyo ng ispasyo at tirahan ng bawat isa. Halos lahat ng cities all over the world ay may kanikaniyang problema. Ang Amerika na pilit nilalabanan ngayon ang pagkakamali nila noon sa disenyo ng kumonidad kasama na ang housing.
Tingnan ninyo ang “Lion City” ng asia, kahit napakarami ng tao at naglalakihang gusali, napapanatili nila ang pagiging tahimik, ligtas, at magandang environment (naglalakihang puno) na syang pilit tinutularan ng ibang cities ngayon.
Hindi ito kompetisyon na pagandahan (beauty) ng disenyo, ispasyo or city. Laban ito bawat isa (all human kind) kung hanggang saan natin maiisalba ang mga resources na meron tayo ngayon at paano natin ito ibabahagi sa future generations.

@@justicefreedom4531 etong rely palang alam no na kung bakit di hinahalaga mga arkitekto kumpara sa ibang bansa eh, san ka ba makakita na ayaw magtulungan na inhinyero sa mga arkitekto.
Pag malakihang project ang usapan gaya ng Hotel, Commercial, Mixed Used project Etc... Laging sa architect muna. Idedesign nila yan base sa requirements ng owner na maraming dapat i-Consider. Kaya dapat maganda ang presentation nyan para magustuhan ng Client. Pumapasok sa design ang ibang Engineer for consultation. Once na-approve yan saka papasok na ang ibang discipline para gawin ang part nila for constructing the project. Pero kung bahay lang yan pwede ka lumapit sa architect or engineer din gaya ng explanaton ni sir.
Makarelate po ko dyan. Hotel project naexecute na lahat MEP works above ceiling per shop drawings then meron bago archt drawings per client requirements. Backlash affected mechanical services air ducts problema redesign.
@@cecilioebuenga agree..in that case kasi superrimposed coordination drawing & approved at yun ang sinusunod at late yung revised drawing anyway thats variance.
@@raulmarqueda6636 So basically, hire an architect with a strong background and strong engineering team. Haha parang avengers yan e, di kayang si spiderman or ironman lang. Dapat nandiyan si thor, etc.
Please keep in mind that whether you want to build a simple or extravagant house or something you should always need an architect. The drawings and plans always comes first. Sir you did a great job explaining things out but your definition of what architect does is quite basic. There is more consideration put into designing and it's not just aesthetic.
The aesthetic is one of those. We cannot explain everything in one go. The most important thing is nasabi ko na ang Architect ang gumagawa ng plano. Cguro naman sapat na yon same as Civil/structural engineer maramin din akong hindi na paliwanag kasi hindi kaya sa oras sa youtube.

Good content engineer salamat sa pagiform sa masa about this issue. Nagaaway po ibang Arkitek sa engineer dahil sa issue na to. I would like to add also kmi pong mga Arkitek bukod sa ganda ng bahay kmi rin po nagpaplano kung saan dapat ipwesto ang mga kwarto sa isang bahay para hindi masyadong mainit at makakatipid din ang may ari tulad ng isa sa layunin nyo po.

Architects are the prime professionals in the construction industry. Their job are not only about the aesthetics/beauty. They're not merely artists. One of their vital roles as pros is dictating the way a user interacts with the sructure. The way you behave in a space and the buildings' behavior towards an occupant is an architect's job. Imagine living in a structure na titirahan mo for countless years. How would you want to interact with that house? This professional takes everything into account and from utility, strength, and beauty. Lalo na ang economy ng project.
We should be avoiding the decades-old dilemma and be better by educating the public.The thing you should be explaining is this sequence:
1 An architect realizes the client's vision by taking into account economy, beauty, strength, and utility.
2 Translates into technical drawings
3 Summons engineering professionals for different trades ( Kasi nga each aspects of the building has their own respective professionals)
4 As a team, they accomplish a project resulting from a collaborative effort.
Still, much respect to engineers! Thanks po! We should start educating people of our roles in the industry to avoid confusion.

In addition, architects create a relationship between the building and the inhabitant ,while engineers create relationships between the building and the environment., architects exploit the overall architectural scope of the building to provide the inhabitants maximum amount of functionality from it; why a certain window is located in particular wall and not on the other, how a certain color affect ones mood ,or how the areas communicate with each other; why this particular space/area must be located near/far to a particular space/area.. the main role of an architect is to create scenarios between the building and the inhabitants., not just good scenarios but the best scenarios..and at the same time, the engineers provides the necessary physical science to counterpart the architects’ social science..engineers provides the necessary tools for the building to achieve its maximum physical integrity., engineers reinforced the building to withstand storms, earthquakes , the live loads, and even to the building itself..

It is not only aesthetics that an Architect provide or function. Architects contribute to the proper spacing, proper planning, proper function, & more. Architects are the forefront of built environment creation.
In fact i think aesthetics is the last thing on Architects mind when designing. Aesthetics is more of a by-product of an Architects work. A result of a well planned and design work.
But true clients both need Architects & Engineers 👍🏻

@phos graphi- everything that this man claims,all civil engineers can do and provide easily, math is the issue here, not all architects are trained well in math just like civil engineers do, Aethetics is the last thing for him because they too struggle with aesthetics, so in general,there is no difference between architects and engineers at all, its just that the function of civil engineers with respect to stability is given more importance by clients and not aesthetics. In short stop claiming things that you are not good at at all.
architects are trained also in math, like engineers, actually yung mga ginagamit niyo sa trabaho tinuturo samin yan,eh ang engineering ba meron planning, architectural designs na subjects nung college? ang sagot. kaya sana ikaw engineer vlogger ka, wag mong iligaw at turuan ng mali ang mga tao, all claims ng tinuro mo dito ay para sa enginner lang, mag isip ka, may batas tayo para jan, kung mag vvlog ka dapat patas lang wag yung puro lang para sa inyo, alam naman ninyo yan, well king di mo alam eh bobo ka, na ang lahat ng vertical projects sa Architec nagsisimula yan, ikaw na nga mismo nagsabi ang trabaho niyo patibayin lang ang structure, pero hindi lahat kase merong structural engineers na mas magaling at nag specialize kesa sa inyong mga Civil Engineers, ang dapat nga sa inyo more on sa kalsada, canals, at yung mas importanteng Civil works ang tinatrabaho niyo, kase yun naman talaga ang dapat niyong trabahuwin, yung tanong sa simula ay kung kanino mag papagawa ng plano para sa bahay, dapat sinagot no hindi parehas kase Architect naman talaga ang gumagawa ng plano eh, may alam kaba sa proper planning ang spatial organization para sa mga residential?wala naman diba, mas ok sana kung sinabi mo na sa Architect sila lumapit at mag antay na lang kayong mga Engineers na mabigyan ng pagkakataon na gumawa ng projects, ku g contractor ka naman, ikaw ang ihihire ng Owner at Architect na gawin ang bahay o structure hindi yung ikaw ang mag hihire ng Architects o Engineers, tandaan mo may batas tayo para dyan, kaya kung ako sayo itama mo lahat ng sinasabi mo dito sa Vlog na to, ang daming nakakanuod nito, baka mas madami pang alam sayo ang iba, kaya dapat yung tama lang ang ituro mo dito hindi yung pang sarili mo lang na kapakanan ang lahat na luamalabas dito.

We also study electrical computations and plumbing too in short we study total construction method since we are the master planner. Puro luxury at parang ang point mo ay unncessary scopes ni architect habang mahalaga ang scopes ng civil engineer. Parang di naacoount na walang gastos ang structural at ibang engineering scopes kung bobo sa decision making si architect na komokontrol sa gastos ng engineering system component. Kaya nga basic ang architect as designer sa maliit na architectural structure kung saan optional ang engineer sana kung hindi lang sa bagong batas ng architect upang maintindihan ni architect requirments niyo sa malalaki. Ibinigay ang structural sa inyo hangang sa bahay kubo as a deal to make peace (na hindi naman tinupad ng mga elders niyo), at hindi upang ipamukang tanga si architect sa structural .

@@kridwest3463 Ang tamang proseso lumapit muna ang kliyente sa appropriate design professional bago contractor whether architectural or any engineering designs. Trabaho ng design professionals na proteksyonan ang interes ng kliyente. Hindi trabaho ng STE na proteksyonan at maging tagapirma ng design ng contractor dahil in the first place, ang contractor na hindi lisensyadong engineer o architect ay hindi talaga dapat nagdedesign dahil hindi naman sila nakaregister sa PRC. Ang mga STE na tagapirma sa design ng contractor ay MGA DUMMY o mga professional na tumutulong o nagpapagamit sa illegal practitioners.

As per your own words sir, hindi lang po for beauty ang architects and hindi lang din for drawings and plans. If so, edi hindi mo na sya kailangan sa site. Ganto yan. Sa construction site as per experience, ipunin mo na lahat ng engineers na present tingnan mo kung kaya nilang umusad ng wala si architect kahit kumpleto pa lahat ng drawings. Samantala, kapag anjan si architect at ilang engineers kahit kulang, kaya po nilang tapusin ang project. Si architect po kasi is sa pangalan palang kilala mo na sya. Ganito nalang, sa tuwing may pagbabago o may problema sa site, hanggat kayang gawan ng paraan ng mga engrs, si architect po ang masusunod. Si architect din po ang kahulihulihang mag aaddjust kung may problema o pagbabagong gustong gawin ng mga engineers. Totoo po yan wag nyo pong ideny. Mga engineers and architects. Sakali man po na ma bypass si architect e malamang sa malamang mapapagalitan mga engineers. Kayo na po ang humusga pag magpapagawa kayo ng bahay or any building kay architect po kayo lumapit(walang company). Architect or engineer lang po ang uspan wala pong company. Kung bridges or kalsada po kay civil or structural po kayo. Thanks po.

@@czaraugustusmoraleta2328 5 yrs pa rin ang tatapusin para sa BS Architecture degree kahit meron na tayong Engineering degree, mababawasan lng po ang subjects. Meron po kasing subject sa mga Arki na continuous ang prerequisite lika Architectural Design 1 to 10 pero may mga school na nag ooffer ng trimester and quarterm like Mapua and the UC in Baguio.

Pag ni reverse/binaliktad mo kunwari ang ang isang bahay / house almost lahat ng malalaglag na ( live load ) materyalis o gamit ay gawa o design ng architecture, @ ang maiiwan ( deadload) ay gawa ng civil engineering.

I’m a licensed architect and now working abroad. I really appreciate this video for clearing this topic, since it has been long overdue. I get CE’s side as well since I was more exposed with Construction and Project Management so I worked more with Engineers, but now that I’m in Planning and Design, so syempre with iba rin ang approach. However, I think that this issue is only a big deal satin sa Pinas. Because they respect each professional’s duty and scopes abroad. Sobrang linaw ng scope. The thing here is that yes both can do plans but which drawings? Architects are the main drawings, but to say civil engineers to signing on architectural plans? That is where we draw the line. Yun lang naman yung pinaglalaban ng RA 9266. Architectural Plans consists of 70-90% ng Building Plans lalo na if bahay lang naman papagawa, other details for construction kering keri icompute and iexecute.(Though hindi ko nilalahat ah, syempre sa kahit anong field, may mga bano pa rin). Ang gawian kasi as for the other trades, pinapaconsult and sign nalang and bayaran sila sa scope nila mapaStructural or MEPF. Though medyo kulang yung explanation ng difference sa Archi vs Engr dito na puro beauty lang (mostly sa mga baguhan, aminado ako ganto nga lang iniisip... madalas pa kulang sa detalye kasi di alam kung pano iinstall ng ibang designers ung gusto nila lol) pero for experienced Architects, strength and stability na iniisip namin when doing plans na rin.
So presumption niyo po is di nagiisip ang mga architects / architecture students kung pano niyo ilalagay yung mga poste? Paano magiging economical ang design ng plumbing and electrical layout? Or the placement ng poste?

I'm reading comments noh, then I've notice na there are lots of comments na pinapangaralan nyu si INGENIERO kung ano ba talaga si architect. Sa pananaw ko wala naman talagang mali si INGENIERO kasi tama naman lahat nang mga sinasabi nya. I'm an aspiring Architect to be pero di ako bias porket yon yung tinahak ko. Tsaka wala rin akong nakitang mali sa mga definition ni sir katulad nong ang Architect is in - short for beauty kasi kailangsn kung i considera na ENGINEER si sir. INGENIERO at hindi nga alam yung mgs theory or deep study about architecture. Also Pwede naman talaga pumunta ka kay engr. yun eh kung contractor si engr. kasi ganon naman talaga yung contractor nangongontrata sila nang projects tapos sila na mag ha-hire nang architect para ma visualized ang gusto nang clientsss the same with the architect katulad nang sinabi ni sir INGENIERO. Pero kung susundin natin yung tamang flow nang professional practice ehhh talagang sa architect una lalapit. Sa video kasi ni sir is nag e-specify nang contractor na engr. or contrator na ar. which is pwede naman talaga both sila lapitan. Usually po ang arhitect ang gumagawa ng design at nag prepare ng cost estimate. Ang engineer po ang mag dedesign ng structural at ang analysis. Ang architect po ang nag preprepare ng contract at at nag pafaciltate ng bidding. kung minsan po ang contractor ay isang civil or architect din. Mas maganda pong komunsulta kayo sa license architect kung gusto nyo na ang building nyo ay hindi masasacrifice ang function and aesthetic value. Kasi po ang arhitect ay di lamang po basta drawing lang kailangan po i consider ang function kung ano ang proposed building orientation at ang flow at ang end user which is the owner at siyempre ang future expansion kung may gustong idagdag na hindi masyadong maapektuhan ang existing structure.
Kaya nga architect ang mauuna para sa plano. Kapag may plano na, yun ang gagawaan ng structural design ng engr.

ako sa civil engineer na since naka 1 yr civil eng nako sa UP noon bago nag shift sa nursing at mahilig ako sa drawing noon pa dahil elective drafting ako ng high school kaya di ko problema ang design need ko structural integrity na kaya CE na ako. UK-RN
Tama ka-Ingenrio maidagdag ko na rin to. Maraming discipline ang involve sa paggawa ng plano ng bahay at may kanya kanya silang natatanging partisipasyon. Ang Project Manager ang tumatayong overall coordinator ng lahat ng disciplines. Maari syang isang Archt or Civil or Strucl Engineer. Sa bawat discipline : AR, ST, EE , PL, ECE, ME kanya kanya silang ambag sa plano at eto ay kanilang lalagdaan kada designated sheet nila. Sa mas-maliliit na project karaniwan na ang Architect ang nagiging Author ng plano at sya ang coordinator sa ibat ibang support disciplines. Kung and Civil Engr. ang tatayong over all cordinator, kailangan pa rin syang mag-hire ng Architect na under sa kanya. Ang success ng construction most importantly ay ang proper coordination ng lahat.

1. Pwede po bang gamitin ang DEED OF SALE sa pagkuha ng building permit kaysa sa LAND TITLE, since portion lang po ang nakuha naming lot. Hindi pa nailalakad yung pagtransfer kasi matagal at madaming proseso. At saka po pala, more or less 30 sqm meter lang yung lupa na nakuha namin.
2. Kaya po ba kahit basic finished lang ang 500k na budget kapag 2 storey yung bahay. Pwede na ba tirhan? 30 sqm meter din yung lote mismo. Probinsya po ang location ko.
