Sharp pencils are a good thing! A sharp point will get into the grain of the paper in a way that a dull point won't. Practice "hatching", and make the lines as close together as you can. The goal is to create hatching passages where lines are so close together that they look like continuous tone.
A very good art video to watch!
All these years I have been doing graphite art using one pencil grade. I always got frustrated when doing the eyes. The pupils would shine due to the amount of pencil work, and I never used white pencil or paint for highlights. Watching you use all these tools has made it so bloody obvious, and a million times more simple yet effective. Cheers.
David? You brought so much life into this drawing! I'm looking at a black and white photograph! I don't see a drawing! You are so God-Gifted! This talent HAS to be from Him!
Amazing work. It took years of practice plus talent to reach this level.
Far away the most incredible ability i have ever seen! CONGRATULATIONS! U are incredible!!!!
Absolutely beautiful! Both the drawing and the girl.
BEST use of a white pencil I've ever seen!!! Love this video!!!

U know, if this video was 10+ hours long and be set on slow, I would still watch it and absorb every second with my eyes, from beginning to end, and play it all over again :)
Well, as it happens Denis, that's just what's offered in our online portrait drawing course... but I think you already know this ;)

What I'm trying to say is that what u draw is beautiful, but most importantly, inspiring. The whole process. I manage to get a part of that inspiration whenever I draw portraits and now from these videos, thank you for that :)

Oh my God! That was amazing!
I consider myself an "above average" artist. I only hope to be this good someday.
Excellent work my friend!!!
The sutblety of shading is so great. This can only be achieved from drawing from life.
David, incredible technique, I'm amazed, of the times you passes the pencils or brush or erasers to get the wanted details. But even more how you get the scale proportions with your pencil measurements.Thank you for your art, for this amaterur and admirer.
A beautiful portrait drawing! This is how I was taught many years ago..I even used to turned the drawing upside down.
The complexity in her expression... you captured it so well.
i dont have words for this work ...its perfect ...
Stunning attention to the details.
THis was absolutely stunning and breathtaking! I would have loved to see the reaction of the live model seeing the finished product
Human printer! You have a perfect eye. This is totally unbelievable, would not have believed it was a drawing if I had not seen it from start to finish.... Respect

But I have to say, Absolutely amazing drawing, and talent. The drawing looks exactly like a black and white photo. Thank you for sharing your talent and techniques. I do landscape drawings, and recently started doing animal and human portraits. I may have to scale up my drawings so I can see detail better when I draw. Thanks again for sharing.

A lot of this skill is knowledge. The more you learn, the better your portraits will be.
That's AMAZING!!! I wish I could do this too!!
One word: AWESOME!!
Beautiful! You are so talented!
Your talent is beyond any imagination! Congratz!
Like a printer or a drawing robot... Such precision! Bravo!
+Socrates Alexander Nothing like that. This is a personal view. He drew what HE saw, and only he saw it. A camera or robot or computer will give the same image every time, simply by reading light information. Any artist will give a totally different drawing, and the same artist will never draw the something exactly the same, no matter how many times they draw it.
c'est de la pure folie!quel niveau..
Wow this is beyond my words. It's dope i'll tell you that! You are unbelievably talented! I absolutely love it!!
It was really awesome!!!!! Liked a lot! At the beginning, I believe that he was using a picture

I could do that but I don't. And haven't & never will. I'm an Artist who greatly admires people who have reached that level of awesomeness. Probably listening to some awesome tunes. 2 thumbs way up!

Wow, amazing!!
Honestly millions of times greater than those photorealistic drawings you see all over the place. You can see there was great skill and experience put into this whereas the photorealistic drawings just take a long time, but it's basically traced.
Great job!
Scary good. Like the drawing is a real person scary good. Awesome.
simplesmente incrível...
