In this video we take a look at the power supply and tube alignment section of a 485. This is a continuation video in the 485 restoration series.
** Repair exposes the Tech to mains electric and should only be done by trained personal. Errors can be fatal. **

Thank you very much for your beautiful video and explanation.
I have the same device, a 485 but with a different trouble, it only shows one point in the middle of the screen and it is no more possible to do the horizontal deflection. Can you please help and say me, where i should pay attention in the service manual and in the device ? For any answer, many thanks

If the power rails are all correct, the high voltage at this point can be assumed because a spot is showing. Then the next stop would be the horizontal drive. If you can move the spot with the horizontal control and the screen is compressed in to a spot Then the Horz drive is missing. This might not be the 200Vdc Horz amp because that is differential, I would expect the trouble to be before that. Even in X-Y mode the positioning should move the spot. If there is 0 deflection in the Horz signal chain I would start in the middle and work backwards or forwards based on the testing results.

It would have been interesting and useful to see HOW you changed the caps on the board, did you have to remove the board form the scope or did you desolder the old caps and solder the new ones from above?
