why no vid of decent waves, or is that as good as it gets?? not close to good enough to go that far out of the way at the price:/

Everyone's perfect wave is different. Some surfers love 8-ft barrells and others prefer empty, small, fun waves.
Of course PNG gets bigger and better than this, but this is a video of the type of waves that were on offer when the video was taken in the late season.
PNG is a very challenging place to run a surf resort operation, and there are very strict, capped surfer numbers (max 12 surfers) which also affects the pricing and the costs. PNG absolutely gets great waves, especially in the peak season, but the waves are not the type you'll surf in Indonesia or Hawaii (and also, you won't share the lineup with 20-40 other surfers). Overall, what PNG offers are fun 2-6ft waves between Oct and April, absolutely no crowds, and a very chilled vibe and a cultural experience.

Hmmm, ive seen very good 8 foot barrels further east, but never in all the vids ive seen has it been bigger than 5 or 6 foot max[to be generous] around Kavieng. AS its pretty well developed around Kavieng, built up, decent airport, i fail to see whats so challenging about running a surf resort there compared to many places in Indo where its quite a journey getting there and still very primitive! Ments..Nias, Telos etc! far more isolated. I would like to go to Kavieng just for something different, but there has to be better waves than ive seen to be worth the cost:/ The setup there is bloody good, if only it got the big swells, but i think the shelf off there cuts the size down compared to further east:( 12 surfers???..At Nusa?? It could handle more than that, and that might bring the price down a bit:) AS for 20 to 40 surfers in the lineup in the shit hot off the track waves in Indo, i find that once its well overhead the amount of surfers IN the water goes WAY down, lol. Most are on the beach watching:) Nias at 10 feet has maybe 10 in the water and 50 on the beach:) The 80s rocked, but you can still get big, perfect uncrowded surf even today. There may be a LOT more surfers now, but most are pretty shy of the big stuff:) Still..Ime seriously thinking about it for a laid back holiday, ime 57 after all, i should be taking it a bit easier, lol

Hmmm…. Yeah. Ok. Lots of kids and smiling people. Not really sold on the waves. Could’ve shown some lineups a little more. And accomodations. What’s the accom like?
