LOL yeah right, "born for luxury cruises" and "single handed operation". So you sit on that perch at the edge of the transom, being beaten by sun, rain, waves... risking being washed off the deck... I think I have a different idea of "luxury". 😀

Hi, Maloy, thanks for your comment. I wonder why would you do it, struggling so much? 🧐 I made around 3.000 nm on this boat with the owner, in all kinds of conditions, mostly sitting in the cockpit under a nice shadow, with a glass of Franciacorta in our hands, protected from waves and rain, and autopilot did the rest. Chatting, preparing delicios food, fishing.
But please share, how do you see luxury cruising?

@@YachtConsultingBarcelona Yeah, that's what thought pretty much. Yapping about "performance" while the autopilot does the actual work. Sweet deal. 😀
You see, things don't always work on yachts. And very often things break. And you have to stand at the helm for hours hand-steerig. Just because it didn't happen to you, doesn't mean it never does. Also, in rough seas autopilot might just not work and, again, you have to hand steer. And my idea of luxury in that situation is sitting warm and dry out of the weather. ALSO, some people actually LIKE to steer their yacht instead of guzzling booze in the cockpit.
What exactly is your point? You are telling me that I'm wrong to think it's ridiculous to have a fully open helm WHILE you yourself didn't want to stay at the helm in the rain and waves. So how exactly am I wrong?

Dear Maloy, it is a wrong shot :). I’m a short hand racer and quite used to steer for many hours in a raw, for more then 10 hours in some cases. And I know the difference between fast and slow boat, for several years i raced TP52. Believe me, this one is not a racer but has an impressive performance that you wouldn’t expect from such a cruiser.
I also had to steer this Targa in tough conditions between Cyprus and Cryte, you can find videos in my FB. This is a bonus of big size, you are comfortable in cockpit in a bad weather.
And I understand perfectly what you mean about a peasure of steering, but this is a daysailer philosophy (which i share most time of the year). But if you go day by day, many miles, like the owner of SPICE you also find other joys of sailing life.
Thanks to modern boat building technologies you can build a boat that suit both modes of sailing ⛵️

Hi Paul. It's Barcelona, Spain. The Best of Boats event. The timing to be there was tough, and we had to start delivery with the owner and yard rep against 30-35kn Mistral till Crete and a bit less and more open, but still windy after. We still were one or two days late. Competition organizations, knowing the efforts, agreed to allow the boat to take place and changed test-sailing schedules to give us a chance. The boat can sail, believe me, and we are as well. Here in Med it's just not the same as in England, you won't find crews in lifevests before the weather is starting to be heavy.
