XHDATA D-808 vs TECSUN PL-680

I got XHDATA D-808 yesterday. This video is comparison of D-808 and PL-680 with 5040kHz AIR Kolkata. Reception at 17:37 UTC on January 18, 2018 in Yokohama, Japan

Already have the Tecsun PL-600,
Just received the XHData D-808.
The XHData is a fantastic little radio ❗️
What we don’t know, is how well it will hold up- long term.

The XHData is still a strong contender, especially given the price. Quality is excellent, and I’ve only heard of 1bad one out of everything I’m hearing. Extremely sensitive,especially on MW.
The only 2 things I don’t like: it’s a DSP based, so like the CCSKywaveSSB, it mutes between stations. ( this is not a big issue for me, because When tuning a dial, I do so slowly anyway, being used to old analog radios, but it does bug a lot of people.)
Also it uses the 18650 battery, instead of “AA”.
Smaller size limits sound quality but not an issue to me.
SSB is excellent, as is Air Band.
I can only compare to what lm familiar with:
PL-660 - I like the XHData.
PL-880, I prefer the 880.
Sangean ATA-909 ( older model) , the XHData.
The CCSKywaveSSB, the C.Crane.
This is stiff competition for any of the higher end portables.
The Tecsun’s advantages:
PLL, but not DSP. - so no muting between frequencies. ( the PL-880 also has a much higher build quality, than the 600,660, 680.)
Tecsun has an easy to deal with Warranty Center for the U.S.,
And the 600,660,680 use 4 “AA” batteries in stead of the 18650.
It’s a hard decision.
It all comes down mostly to features, and individual preferences.when radios get to this level, it comes down to the nitpickey stuff.

The XHDATA D-808 is more raw, while the Tecsun PL-680 has a softer sound thanks to its better speaker. Both are good in their own way. Many thanks for this comparison & 73s!

Late to the party, but good comparison. When listening at home I hook my D808 to my C Crane 2e and listen through it. Makes a great combination with excellent sound.

Dude, is this good on shortwave only with his telescopic antenna? And another question he picks up the 15 meter band example: 18890 khz! I'm thinking of buying one of those Xhdata 808, a hug from Brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷

当方ではハイゲインなアクティブ系のアンテナよりもワイヤー系などのパッシブタイプのアンテナの方がノイズが減って聴きやすいラジオです。感度切り替えがついてないので外付けATTでゲインコントロールすると聴きやすくなりますね。Digitec AR-1780やCcrane skywave SSBと中身は一緒じゃないかな？スピーカーサイズや電池形式は違ったりしますが。コスパはいいと思います。

コメントありがとうございます。確かに感度切り替えがないのは残念です。外付けATT購入検討します。S-8800よりもコスパははるかにいいです。

ワイヤー系パッシブタイプと書きましたが、303WA-2やSA7000などのロッド式のアンテナでもいい感じです。信号強度がdBμで表示されますが、同じアンテナでもPL880より10dBμ+高めに出る気がします。
