Wow, just found this! I was there. In fact, I spotted myself at :24. That's my sister sitting on wall, my friend Steve beside her, then myself with the black ball cap. We had driven 8hrs from Macon Georgia just to see Big Star. During the show, I was standing right next to the fellow taping this. I gave him my address in hopes I could get a copy. That never happened. Nice to see it here.
I get it. Not everyone had a professional quality camcorder laying around in 2001. Maybe a little on the boomy side. Get past that and you have an incredible and intimate look at some legendary musicians playing their asses off
The super melodies shine through…… Thank you for posting this, glad I stumbled across this! What a reminder of great band. An inspiration to many…… No imitators could match Big Star… Rest in peace Alex Chilton
I saw Alex Chliton open for Billy Bragg and Michelle Schott in 1883/84 in DC. I walked away wondering why Alex and his band of misfits (the bass player looked like he came from the local union) blew the place away.......I have been following him ever since...
Excellent! I was fortunate enough to be there. Very glad to see it again. Thanks for posting. One little thing, though. This was in Oxford, Mississippi.
I really wish Big Star had caught a break when their first album came out. It could have possibly rewritten the history of the band. They were certainly deserving of success. They were mishandled by their record label and their management.
That looks like an early 70's ES-320TD that's had the Melody Maker type pickups replaced with humbuckers, and some kind of improvised control plate held on with electrical tape. I dig it!
KC C gibson es 320 i believe. Modified here with minihumbuckers but eventually added full sized ones. He was pretty rough with it and it has blood and missing bits all over.

Glad to see this on You Tube; thanks for uploading it.
The stage was on the north side of the historic Oxford square, just a few blocks from Faulkner's house, Rowan Oak. Great place to hear great music!

Thank you Alex Chilton !!!! Big Star 4 ever!!!
Alex: "This is completely out of control, and my amp is on '2'."
What a typical Chilton moment.
it was a fender twin. they're loud.
Chilton looking a little like a tax attorney kicking back on the weekend here! My hero. A rock star even in casual Friday clothing.
Classic Alex! 🎸
@@livronuvem that’s what I love about em.. no airs put on by Chilton, he was who he was and if you didn’t like it .. well you know
Would have paid serious money to have a quality version of this.

An early 70's Gibson ES 320, with humbuckers installed instead of the original single coils.

don't lie to me! such a good rock n roll song.
He could have lived off of the royalties from this song that was used as the intro by That 70s Show too bad that hired Cheap Trick to sing it
That was so cool
I envy those lucky ones that were at this gig !!
RIP, A C.
