Yes we do
Yes
Please do earths mightiest heroes!
Precisely, and Disneycember is definitely the perfect holiday tradition to make us forget about the rest of the year! 🤣😉
yeah pretty much
I really liked how it wasn't even the geeks fault that Will Smith turned into a pigeon. He just grabbed the formula and drank it with out knowing what it was. I thought it would have been a case of the hero being tricked into turning into a pigeon, nope. It was his own fault.
On the first Disneycember, my critic gave to me;
A pigeon in a pear tree.
LMAO Oh shoot, I need this thread to keep going the entire month!
@@sailormonet19941 I'll try to keep it going for at least the first 12 days.
I will search for you in every comment section. Keep it up!
Bravo! I also will be looking forward to this continuing! LOL
Continue in the other videos too.
Will Smith and Tom Holland, what a legendary duo
Hypocrite!
*meanwhile in the future, Nostalgia reviews every film for disneycember after the company became an empire*
Disney: *”Unlimited power!”*
Considering how much money Disney lost this year, and how much they are in debt at the moment, they won't be buying anything for at least a few years
They’re already an empire. They own half of of the TV networks, nearly a 3rd of the biggest movie franchises out there and maybe more. They’re basically Big Brother but with mouse ears...
@Azaku Even at their very peak, they never had enough power to go against the bank.
@@artchic528 And currently they are bleeding cash, and firing people left and right, just so they can even keep the company running to begin with
Spies in Disguise is probably the tightest story Blue Sky has done since the original Ice Age. There isn’t any filler or annoying side characters, it just keeps moving forward, wastes no time, and everything ties together fluidly
for me it's between this and the Penauts movie
The Peanuts movie is already expected. And it's already well known but not that popular enough.
Spies in Disguise became ANOTHER ORIGINAL Blue Sky movie
Robots: *AM I A JOKE TO YOU?!*
@@untitledjunk03 Robots had no shame in joining the Shrek-aping crowd of making excessive snarky pop culture references and toilet humor. Its production design is the best part of it, but I thought it was a disappointing sophomore slump from Blue Sky
@@untitledjunk03 Robots popularity never lasted long but they gave us great nostalgia about their world concept.
I went with my little sister thinking, "meh, it doesn't look that bad" and had a surprisingly fun time. I'm also very happy that this movie has almost no poop joke, for a movie about pigeons.
It's kind of funny that this film was actually based on a short film called Pigeon Impossible
I can't tell if you're being serious
@@jamescallanan2443 serious
@@jamescallanan2443 its a real thing and i've seen the short its on CZcams
The studio that made this movie just got shut down. RIP Blue Sky Studios.
The story sounds like The Emperor's New Groove
No wonder the movie looked and sounded lame in the trailer!
Except Emperor's New Groove was better.
That's what AniMat said when he reviewed it.
I mean, there are only so many different stories to tell and plothooks to use. Someone seeing the world differently/gaining new perspective after they are forced into another "form"(body switches, transformations, dream sequences etc.) is nothing new. Charles Dickens "A Chrismas Carol"(1843) is about exactly that and a very wellknown story.
The difference is the setting, the events, the characters. Really, the only real comparison is the overall plothook of "someone gets a new perspective after a big change".
Except that the villain didn't try to poison the protagonist. The potion was literally made by the second protagonist or the actual of the movie, Walter.
2020 is almost coming to an end, and we have the return of disneycember!
Finally my favorite time of every year has come Disneycember
But don't forget the sequel is almost always worse.... :D
@@hejjj12 good to know 2020 is the sequel to 2016.
Maybe 2021 will be a prequel to find out how we got here
A return of hope, perhaps?🤞
Too bad he hasn't done Tall Tale. Which BTW, is a Disney movie.
This movie has one of the worst trailers I've ever seen, always interesting when those movies turn out to be good.
Same thing happened to Megamind because the trailer didn't do justice to one of the greatest masterpiece of animated cinema.
@@poweroffriendship2.0 THANK YOU
@@anib8863 You welcome.
Yeah but it’s all right

Told ya pigeons are flying spy cameras
I continue to insist that this movie has a terrible title. Seriously, that's the best wordplay you could think of? "Stool Pigeon" was RIGHT THERE.
Really ?
I hope that's a joke cuz that's a terrible wordplay right there.
My problem is it's so generic. It tell you basically nothing about the film
Sorry, but its sounds awful
I slightly agree. While "Stool Pigeon" IS a corny title which relies on toilet humour, at least it tells us more about the movie than the actual title. Maybe they were trying to downplay the pigeon transformation, and not to give it away just from the name! 😉
_"YAW! IT'S REWIND TIME!"_
*~ Will Smith*
*W I L L*
*S M I T H*
To quote my friend when we saw this (yes we paid money for this movie) "Tom Holland plays Tom Holland for about 90 minutes".
To be fair, unless it's a biopic or a drama, MOST movie stars play similar role in every movie. What's the difference between Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher and Tom Cruise in M:I? Will Smith in Independence Day and Will Smith in Suicide Squad? Dwayne Johnson in Hobbs and Shaw and Dwayne Johnson in Rampage? Just comes with the territory, giving the people what they want.
@@tashaem1 Isn't that typecasting, though?
@@tashaem1 Unlike Jeff Goldblum who plays a completely different character every time. It's hard to believe his characters are played by the same person.
He's Michael Cera / Jesse Eisenberg 3.0
@mpditrag I haven't seen it but I'll watch it
Okay, but I have to say that the movie is probably going to have a sequel to this, I've watched it like more than 10x times.
Reasons (Spoilers):
- We've seen a cutscene that was posted in one of the creators' insta, Lance Sterling has a mother who was also a spy. She was Lance's spy idol but she died after she flew on to her next mission somewhere when Lance was just a kid.
- We never get to SEE Killian's flashbacks from what happened in Kyrgysztan. We don't know what actually happened to his crew and what were his intentions before the explosion happened. What was his story before Lance Sterling came in and how the fight began. He's actually a sympathetic villain, probably in my opinion, since he only wanted to take on revenge on the agency because he cared for his dead henchmen as LITERALLY THE ONLY FAMILY HE HAD LEFT BEFORE HE LOST HIS PARTS IN THE EXPLOSION (Both him, but mostly Lance are to blame), and the drones only targetted the agency members of the HTUV. His actions may be terrorizing, but he does want to have justice.
[We even theorized that he might even going to kill himself after he succeeded, because he's all alone and he eants to rest in peace after that without telling. Most criminals due to have mental illness that will cause a lot of mess in their lives and affect others as well. This is why we shouldn't fight fire with fire.]
- There was an actual cutscene where Walter and Lance are in the submarine, but Lance got worried and felt guilty for letting Walter get almost killed by Robo-Hand/Killian, there was a line he said "Kyrgysztan... 2010". And they cut that off in the video with the next process, there must be a complete explanation to what actually happened. Or probably they don't wanna spoil it (sequel or prequel potential)
- Marcy Kappel, Eyes and Ears.... I wanna see a short movie about their teamwork and how they met though. I love this team.
- The creators actually saved a lot of things in the process. There even said in one of the articles that the person who designed and created Walter's gadgets saved some of it and never put it in to the movie because there will be for secret use.
There's 8 seasons of Power Rangers made by Disney. You could look at them next year
Yes😀
the technicalities are beautiful!
Some of those are really good too.
Power rangers RPM is my favourite cus of the mad max vibes plus it had rose Mclver from OUAT(she played Tinkerbell) and izombie in it
I don't see this happening since Doug was never a Power Rangers fan.
I also really liked that, towards the end of the movie, when Stirling dumps the scientist, he lets escape that he doesn't want to loose another good person...
That mean that the reason he's so violent and soloist and ruthless is because of teammates he's lost before he was this good... "One more layer to this character please ! can I have a refil ?" ;7
I remember watching this and I loved it. It was hilarious and I actually started crying at one point from how much laughing I was doing. And Killian was such an amazing villain. I love just how evil he is and every time he was on screen I felt intimidated.
Please tell me you cried at the k-drama entrance because I cannot be the only person who giggled themselves to tears over it
@@lilangelarishi When I first saw the movie in theaters, I was dying from that moment from laughing so hard.
Doug: “we are adding 21st century fox movies to disneycember “
"Me: “yes there is finally gonna be a nostalgic critic video on Anastasia”
Doug: “only the movies that came out after Disney bought fox”
Me: *internal screaming*
He briefly mentioned Anastasia in some other video, basically dismissing it as a Bluth attempt at doing Disney--but I think it's Bluth doing Disney BETTER than Disney and making the best Disney Princess curently existing! We shouldn't dismiss that! Great romance, great villain, great music, great animation, etc.
He should do a Don Blunt month!
@@lindseyemra9195 he kinda did way back when
I know, Anastasia is one of my favorite movies it hurt when he said he wasn’t going to do it
@@PmpknHead I could see him doing it as a "By popular demand" thing at the end of the month like he's done for some films in the past.
Never thought I’d see a Disney movie that covers the morality of government officials using lethal force... or that it’d actually be good...
Heck, I never thought I”d see a Blue Sky movie tackle those themes of all things. Shame that didn’t do too well in the box office.
@@DuelaDent52 If I was wearing a tin foil hat I would say that the themes are actually why it didn't do well, the government didn't want people to know this film existed so it was barely advertised. But I only put this out as a joke.
It could have gone deeper into the ramifications of federal agents ruining someone's life, free of consequence, over false accusations
People to 2016: Perhaps I treated you too harshly.
I mean, the worst thing that happened in 2016 was trump being president: meanwhile 2020 Is basically the end of the world.
@@larrypoppins6273 Trump being president was worse than Hurricane Matthew? worse than the Orlando shooting? Worse than terrorist attacks in France? Worse than the Dallas shooting? Worse than the deaths of Prince and David Bowie? Worse than the Zika virus outbreak? Worse than all that?
@@larrypoppins6273 Personally Losing David Bowie, Gene Wilder and the Guy who thought always had died but finally did Abe Vigoda was worse. But to his, his own. We'll just have to wait and see if the new boss is any better than Trump was. "Just don't blame me I voted for the other Jo."
I know 2016 had some bad times, but I’d rather go through that year all over again than 2020. At least we could go outside
2020 topped 2016 with what it delivered, except everyone stayed indoors most of the time.

I'm glad they let Will Smith be Will Smith in his voice acting and how the character look like them. Them: "It's Will Smith and Tom Holland in a comedy-spy movie!" Me: "Neat!" Them: "By Disney." Me: *expectation levels outs* "Oh okay."
"It's not great, just likable." So, Tom Holland's entire career, then.😄
😆☝
I love Tom Holland but o o f
Didn't he prove himself to be an amazing spider-man?
@@atogon_art if you consider amazing, everything he is coming from iron-man, then sure his invincible.
Tom holland is likable and charming, but man his career as an actor is really overrated.
The impossible was actually an amazing movie and he did a phenomenal work, my favourite movie by him.
Hearts of sea was really boring and wasted a great promise and a great cast but he did a decent job.
His Spiderman movies were ok but nothing of amazing, were just fun and enjoyable but nothing of phenomenal or even great....he was great but the movies just ok. Cherry was really horrible, Chaos walking was bad and wasted a great premise, his presence in Captain America Civil War, Avengers Infinity war & Endgame were fun but my point is Tom holland still need to find a series of really great movies not only decent enjoyable movies but forgettable. Now I am curious to see what he can do in Uncharted with Mark Whalberg and the next Spiderman movie
I dare Critic to eventually review Bionicle: Mask of Light, now... it’s mostly branded as a Miramax film, however has had some obscure Disney-branded releases in other territories (it’s on the Disney Special edition video releases on the Disney Wiki btw), but it was also advertised by the company, so... maybe?
I really want to see Critic take a look at the G1 Bionicle advertising. I can’t help but think how he’d react to things like the Toa Inika commercial with All American Rejects’ “Move Along” or the Piraka rap.
As a pigeon lover I love this movie because there isn't enough animated movies about pigeons. I wanted to take my pet pigeon into screening even.
What about _Valiant?_
@@viddork I love that movie ;_; we need more pigeon movies.
Time to cozy up by the fire and watch some Disneycember!
I saw Tron: Uprising in the clips you showed and almost fell out of my chair. I’ve been trying to bring people’s attention to this underappreciated work of art for so long, it’s great more people will finally hear about it.
I wish this movie had focused more on the spy stuff. Imagine how fantastic it would be to have a straight-up animated spy flick. But this movie lost me at the “Will Smith is a pidgeon” plot point.
At least David Spade's not a llama, other people (myself included) like that movie, but the critic sure didn't! He didn't really hate it, but he didn't like it all that much either!

@@snaketooth0943 Ironic since he wound up liking Zootopia.
Sorry for the off-topic, but I kind of remember your profile picture. Were you a player from Disney Pixie Hollow?
Actually, we were hoping for this movie to have a sequel because we got lots of question and we've seen some potential points for it to continue, such as the mysterious backstory between the villain and Lance, and what was Lance's previous missions, and the creators saving up the other gadgets that were not shown in the movie for 'secret'. So we were hoping for the second movie to have more spy stuff, since Walter finally got the reward he deserves.
I was surprised how much I loved this! I like a lot of animated movies, but this kinda took me off guard!
Is it like Hotel Transylvania where it looks dumb as hell, but is surprisingly good?
@@TheGoldenDunsparce Yep!
It was fun but I disagree that the villain had an interesting motivation. *SPOILERS* He was evil, then will smith killed his evil friends to being evil and trying to kill people, NOW he is MORE evil. It was lame. If he was an innocent caught in the crossfire because will smith needs to be flashy, that would be cool.
I agree, Casey Henderson. I was also surprised that even though it's a movie featuring a character Tom Holland plays and it takes place in all of the same parts of Italy Spider-Man Far From Home was only a minor distraction. Not to say Spider-Man Far From Home was bad I enjoyed it but I felt like it was comically self-aware without making any Spider-Man references

Disneycember’s back. I love it every single year. Makes me excited every day in December.
Claire Crosby actually has a small part in this film, which is one of the reasons why I want to see it so much. But since I don't have Disney-plus, I'll have to wait a while longer before I can see it.
I'm so happy that Disneycember is back! I'd love to see Doug's thoughts on more of the Blue Sky Studios films - especially the Ice Age ones. (I know he's only doing more recent movies but maybe we could have a Blue Sky-uary at some point?)
The disney plus of reviews begins today
YAAAAY
Reminder that Shark Tale is a work of art and one of the most soulful CG animations films of that era. That whole movie was made by a team of traditional animators who never worked with CG technology before, so it was made with a different methodology and animation approach to what we're used in seeing. Shark Tale is a one of a kind movie, and i love it for that
For anybody who doesn't know, much like the movies Pixels and The Nut Job, this one was based on a short-movie. It was called Pigeon: Impossible about a pigeon that's also a spy, not many people knew about it and they probably turned their heads when they saw the trailer and saw it coming out of nowhere.
One of the most underrated movies of last year.
Some are split on this movie
Ya goddamn right.
As a bird owner I loved the animation. The pigeons move exactly as my bird does, I was laughing so hard everytime Will Smith walked or run.
Loved it
I honestly didn't even knew this was a Disney film, whenever i saw the ads i rolled my eyes somewhere else but the screen and just by the designs i thought it was Dreamworks, Illumination or whatever other animation company that's still working
It's also pretty funny that Walter makes non-violent gadgets considering that Tom Holland also plays Spiderman. Just something I just thought about. XD
Welcome to Disneycember, and Spies in Disguise is the perfect choice to start off the season, especially after the train wreck of a year we've had! 😉😍
I mean I was expecting onward honestly
Matthew Lucas I love Onward!
It wasnt that bad. Take it as a lesson to make the most of everything.
@@MaztRPwn it’s a meh year honestly
If he's gonna review what Fox released after the buyout finished, he's gonna have to do New Mutants and Dark Phoenix. Uh oh.
I had this exact same opinion. I went into it assuming it’d be very standard and was surprised by how consistently I was bursting out laughing at just how many unexpected ways they executed certain scenes. It doesn’t take itself seriously and I think that’s what helps (and ironically makes the serious pacifist message actually be delivered better than if they did it straight).
Your reaction was basically my reaction when I watched this film a year ago. That said, I did watch it twice.
My favorite part would be the K- Drama bit when Walter comes to save Lance.
When I was first watching the trailer, I was like "Holy Crap, its Will Smith playing a spy, in an animated movie, and the animation is semi good and appeasing!" But then after 30 seconds I was like"Oh, nevermind, its Will Smith playing a Pigeon" And then immediately lost any interest
That is almost word for word my reaction. I was 100% in and then immediately 100% out at the pigeon reveal.
Same!! I saw it and it was enjoyable enough, made me laugh a few times, but yeah the pigeon angle wasn’t great, and didn’t grab me in the trailer...
Reminds me of Brave when they revealed that it was going to be about her mom becoming a bear.. like, why?!
@@stefcannon2580 Yeah surprisingly, I liked the movie when I watched it on Hulu
@@TheGoldenDunsparce to be honest, Brave didn't really turned up to be that good. The part where the mother turns into a bear wasn't really good in the movie. Brother bear did it better.
I honestly loved this movie. There were so many times watching this I just couldn't stop laughing. It's so goofy and silly I just couldn't help it. I haven't watched it since but I remember enjoying it so damn much.
Not going to lie, the pigeon and bell clip you put in got me laughing. This genuinely looks better than expected
Safe to say, this movie was one of my biggest surprises in recent memory. I mean the trailer made it seem like just the poor man's Emperor's New Groove, but then I watched it and was actually caught off guard by how much I was laughing for all the right reasons.
WOW. He didn't mention the best line in this movie. "Yaa thats hot thats hot" referencing youtube rewind
Can’t wait for the phineas and ferb tv show and movie review from Disneycember before
How did Clive Owen not sue this company for the use of his image? As soon as I saw the villain, I thought, 'Oh, that's an animated Clive Owen.' When he opened his mouth and Ben Mendelsohn's voice came out I thought 'WHAT! How did they not cast Clive Owen to voice the character that looks JUST LIKE HIM?!'
Critic, the time has come for your insane love of Christmas to make a comeback
Funny enough, Their animated counterparts look so much like their real life counterparts. XD Anyone notice that?
I did
Watched this film with my nephews. Had zero interest in it. I wasn’t expecting much from it, but I really liked it. I loved the subtle message about how there is no good guys or bad guys, it’s all about perspective
I tell you what Doug this year sure has been confusing.
I definitely need your annual Christmas of Disney reviews right now.
Your review of this movie is how I feel about Storks, it's nothing new, in fact you can see where every plot is going, but it is very likable.
The movie seems to know it's not doing anything new so it doesn't try to make a big deal of it and has fun with it.
My only complaint would be Pidgeon Toady who the movie literally says at the end 'oh right, you were a thing'
Finally! Disneycember has begun!
I just saw the movie the first time some days ago and I enjoyed it a lot!! And finally gave us a villain that isn't soft washed and wants to basically kill people and DOES kill people on screen! It's been a while since Disney gave us such villain! And the humor was amazing
Oh boy I totally forgot that Hamilton would be an option for this Disneycember but now that it’s been brought up... oh my god I love it
I remember when I saw the trailer, and I thought I would never try to see it. But now I might.
20th Century's animation studios are:
the short lived "Fox animation studios" the Don Bluth Anastasia/Titan A.E. Studio
Blue Sky Studios, the Ice Age/Rio/Peanuts movie studio
and the time in 2013-2017 when they distributed dreamworks animation films
Why even bother with the 20th Century and just put Disney on them
If you don’t already have it lined up, I would love to hear your thoughts on “The Owl House”
He'll probably get to that when it ends since he's only reviewing shows that have ended (The Mandolorian last year being an exception)
Yes, Tron Uprising, that show is criminally underrated.
First, it was David Spade as a LLAMA!!
Now, it's Will Smith as a PiGeOnNNn!!
Things have come full circle for Disneycember.
How just went WOW IT'S DECEMBER ALREADY
We all needed this ever since 2020 started

As I've been doing for years now on Doug's DisneyCember videos, I'll be posting a ranking of the order that I believe Doug likes all the movies/shows he reviews. Why? Because I feel like it. And, remember, it's just my opinion on how I THINK Doug feels from what he's saying in the review!

This movie really came and went. NOBODY talked about this movie when it came out.

Well when it comes blue sky studios no one talks about the new movies honestly
Holy crap I forgot that Disneycember was already starting, Bring it on.
Doug liking a Blue Sky movie after mocking them for many years, what has the world come to.
Disneycember begins with a Blue Sky movie, nice, I know you said you were only doing fox movies released after the buyout but I want an Ice Age Disneycember so badly
To be honest that probably wasn’t gonna happen probably til next year

I like that they kept the villain ruthless and murderous without giving him much charm or a funny persona so the audience likes him. It's easy to say this person deserves to live with someone we like, but the message of the movie is served better by having the villain be unlikable and still be treated as a person who deserves to be saved.
