    Great video.
    Just a suggestion: unlike international chess, in xiangi there is no stale mate. So once in a while would be nice to mention it and maybe provide an example.

    Very interesting and informative. Why not just call the Two Devils knocking "Two Soldiers Knocking." That's easier to remember what pieces are involved too!

    Thanks for the video. As a student of Chinese, I would also like to see the names of the mates in Chinese if possible. Thanks!

    Horse in Xiangqi is pretty strong, but if Knight was in Xiangqi, they would be stronger
    That means General is weaker than King

    I have a question about the palcorner horse checkmate around 5:34. When the horse moves to check the general initially, why doesn't the advisor in the center capture the horse to remove check?

    • @XiangqiChineseChess
      @XiangqiChineseChess  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thanks for your question! It is because the advisor is pinned by the cannon.

    5:13 why can't the black general capture the horse? Well the house wasn't protected by any pieces so the black general can capture the horse to escape the check

    • @XiangqiChineseChess
      @XiangqiChineseChess  Před 10 měsíci

      That is because unlike in chess, the general in xiangqi cannot move in diagonals, so it is not able to capture the red horse at that position
