Mashaba on being outside the GNU; his Joburg Mayoral predecessor, SA's new T&I boss Tao

  • Self-made entrepreneur turned politician Herman Mashaba shares some uber truths in this interview with BizNews editor Alec Hogg - including deep concerns about his predecessor as Joburg Mayor taking over the key Trade & Industry portfolio. The way Mashaba sees it, the T&I job is way beyond the competency of ANC stalwart Parks Tao whose mess Mashaba inherited in Joburg. That R35bn in corrupt deals which Tao either didn’t, couldn’t or wouldn’t see.

Herman Mashaba knows firsthand that the ANC never play fair - so well-done on following your instincts ! How can the ANC party who only got 40% of South Africans voting for them take 76% of the governing positions in parliament and leave the 60% of voters who voted for other parties left with just over 23% of governing positions in parliament. It is time that all political parties hold the76% ANC parliamentary politicians governing South Africa accountable at every turn !😡

Mashaba is correct. We don’t need this Joes full house of Deputy Ministers. It’s the start of financial embezzlement. They have already forgotten the taxpayers complaints. My President Cyril disappointed me in this one. Deputy Ministers have never been influential in Government Departments since our first Democratic government, they are just passengers at work.

I agree with you, but he had to appease his ANC followers by DEPLOYING ANC CADRES to get paid for sleeping or watching his back. He also had to be seen giving some leeway to DA to kind of keep them happy by allowing some DA people to be deputies. It's a load of Bull S$%^. We don't have enough money to pay wasteful salaries. The PEOPLE need money spent on services NOT idiots.

Firstly all i can say is that you must open your eyes and then you will see that the DA is doing nothing to fight poverty , They are a party that thrives on rich backers who live in the leafy suburbs of Cape town and they dont give a fuck about the rest , they play with smoke and mirrors tactics . I am not saying that there must just be handouts to those that claim to be poor but there must be a total turn around in the way the things operate and a new resat of social order where the profit margins on foods and vital things that human being need like medical , housing and education need to be affordable to all and not just the rich and the rest live in shacks or like a huge section of the population where they live in debt constantly to service banks and those industries .

I think Herman made a smart move by not participating in this grand coalition thats being masked as GNU. I look forward to him holding this gvnt accountable at all spheres and that might help expeditite service delivery. It is a bloated cabinet indeed and the President needed to keep his the DA "happy" while keeping a good balance of ANC cadres which is nothing new if we are being honest.
Side note: Everytime I read about the DA being the best performing in the WC as far as poverty eradication and service delivery, I always ask myself which WC cause I know for sure that the conditions of the people living in the townships are worsening each day, with sewerage systems running in the roads and around where people say, unless these services are meant for certain people living in more affluent areas???... 😏🤔🤔🤔

  • @miguel--jesus

One of the ways to solve poverty is to create jobs. Not sure why Herman is saying DA is not committed to creating jobs. Jobs happen through investment. And investment, happens when a country can demonstrate that government works for its people, not for itself.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Mashaba views as insight. The reality is that Mashaba failed to advance the Corridors of Freedom groundwork already done by previous executive, and spend much of his time profiling himself as corruption buster than mayor in truth he lacked ideas and was out of his depth (a role he remains in to date).Where I would give Mashaba credit is on the investigating unit, but not on developing the city or doing anything for the residents and its citizens. Fact Jozi was far better under leadership of Tau than under Mashaba, and the bar of CoJ executive post Tau has remained low & gotten worse. What in truth are Mashaba achievements as Executive Mayor of CoJ?
