  • There are many reasons to add a wrist strap to your phone case-to avoid dropping it, have two hands free, avoid getting it stolen out of your hand, and most importantly, because it’s sooo trendy and soooo cool. Practically everyone’s doing it! :P
    I did a lot of research on this, so I wanted to share my findings. From the video, you can see the rubber sleeve on my Otterbox case made this project slightly more difficult. There's also one more option I didn't mention, in which there are products you can buy where the strap or handle adheres to your phone (like the "LoveHandle" www.lovehandle...)

    I'm a disabled veteran and I drop things because of a spinal cord injury that makes arms weak.
    You are right. They just don't make protective phone cases that accept lanyards, except for the new OtterBox Pursuit series. But I have an older phone so that not an option.
    Instead of using strain, use dental floss. It's waxed so it is slippery , and it's extremely strong. Other than that, I think you did just about everything that I would do.
    I was worried the case would crap, but it looks like it will be okay.
    Thanks for the video and letting us share in the joy of your little baby! They are a ton of work, but I do miss those days with my son.

    Aww! Love the outtakes!! A wriststrap is a must have for me!!! I didn't think of using my drill!!🤪. The first time did this, I didnt have my drill so I used a very small Philips head screwdriver, heated it up with flames from a candle and melted a hole in the plastic.

    Wow two new videos in one day 😊 Great idea with the cell phone wrist strap. I walk water ways all the time and fear the dropping of the phone. The strap will eliminate that fear. My drive time for me to totality is 8 hours 🤔 But still possible. Loved the outtakes. Made me smile.

Glad this helped! Be sure to check the description for tips and to read that site on how the guy from 148apps did it!

    Where did u get wristlet strap?

    • @XoletteLife
      @XoletteLife  Před 4 lety +1

      The wrist strap link is in the description. Though, mine broke after abt 2 years. The constant friction on the tiny string I looped through the case caused it to break. To replace it, I just looped my sailsmaker twine through the hole several times, and through that I put in a strap I made out of scrap nylon fabric. It's holding up pretty well, but The downside is the fabric strap right up against my cases a little bulky. Hope that helps!

    I had to do surgery on my OtterBox defender case to fit this Motorola phone. The clear plastic covered the camera. A little bit of detail work with a xacto knife fixed it. The rubber boot will eventually stretch out so if you can do a science trick to shrink rubber that would be great. 😃. It is still functional so I am delaying adhesive solution

    What sort of materials would you use to make this strap for a purse strap rather than a wrist strap?

    • @XoletteLife
      @XoletteLife  Před 4 lety +1

      Good question! I had to replace the wrist lanyard after it broke (too much friction on the cord connecting it to my phone), so I made a strap out of fabric scraps (in my case, nylon) and just attached it to my phone using my sailsmaker twine. I'd recommend using a fabric that won't show dirt and easy to clean-- synthetic fabrics do well in this regard. Good luck!
