I offered my friend to split my clutter profits so she would sell them and we split the money. She needed money and I needed space... I got 200$ today... it was a good deal to everyone

IT's as if God himself put you in my suggestions. Life long pack rat, here. I have been doing my best to thin out the junk I have in my home for a few years. When I do a purge I give items an expiration date if I feel like I just "can't" get rid of it because I might need it later. Then I usually do get rid of the items later. But what has been very helpful is an Abraham-Hicks suggestion. Get office boxes and put a number on each one, as well as a sheet of paper for each box. Then, start putting things in and write down what goes into each box on it's corresponding paper, and then stick the boxes in whatever storage area available. That way, you get the clutter out of your space, but you can still easily find something you go looking for later. Then if you decide that you really can do without the stuff you can get rid of it. Pretty painless for those of us that struggle with the letting go.

I love all of this!! About the laundry part....just because you OWN more clothes doesn't mean you'll do more laundry. If you WEAR more clothes in a given time span, you'll do more laundry. At the end of the day, you'll still have 1 outfit to wash, no matter if you had 2 or 200 options to choose from. Just thought it might be good to clarify so people don't get their hopes up if they declutter lots of clothes thinking they'll have less laundry. It's still good to declutter your wardrobe though - doesn't take up as much space and limits the overwhelm of your closet and your mind. 😄

Space has value too! My space is more valuable than the things that I’m not using. Great learning. Thank you, Mia.

I always love to get rid of stuff. Every full box or bag that leaves the house feels soooo good, but also the empty space when I go through an area decluttering.

Several years ago when I had a dinner party and I really decluttered and cleaned my first floor, getting up in the morning and walking through that empty organized clean space felt really good. I am really at the beginning again but the only thing that so far has helped is put a large garbage can in every room with a bag in it. If I run across something that I dont know how to use, it goes in the trash and the lid is closed. Walking it to the kitchen garbage is too far, I will get distracted.

Ruth here, l have been pretty well on declutter mode for years yet l had to put some cross stitch away cause l finally decided l like the less clutter look better, put it in a drawer now it's on the way out, but l feel so much better, so it's a process to go through. Clothes, l like cotton t shirts l think they last longer, look better longer, they look better on me, ya just can't find em any more

My clutter's only value is mostly paper work. It's about all the things that need to be put in some place. I've allowed the clutter because I tell myself that I'll get to it later. Yeah I know, procrastination.

“Everything in moderation” keeps me sane (and free from a lot of guilt) Lol. I prob partake of things some folks think I “shouldn’t” (like cola ha ha) but it’s actually working pretty well for me to just have my limits with it. By now I don’t even usually want or need one unless it’s at the habitual “appointed time.” By that I mean that my limits have become the master rather than anything ever getting out of control with it. Seems like just paying attention and having a plan is half the battle (such as when we don’t know when or how much we will consume or if we just follow our whims, then we might be often consuming way too much without even noticing).

Well ya know tho. (I had another thought about it). There are things I don’t touch at all tho Bcuz they are more like “playing with fire.” But idk. I just at this point don’t feel like soda is one of those “high risk” things for me. I guess that’s where common sense would come in tho. Lol.

Space has value. Hard for me to appreciate. It’s somewhat different when you consider hanging objects like pictures. They don’t use any floor space but you definitely run out of hanging space if you like hanging wall stuff.
Anyway, I’m hoping to reduce my clutter before I break my neck tripping on stuff on the floor. Is there a rule of thumb for how much floor space should be free? Maybe 50% minimum (counting all furniture). I can’t afford to fall.
I’ve taken many measures to reduce clutter but so far I fall short. Wish me luck.

I ordered a small pack of the TruEarth laundry sheets a couple of weeks ago and my family loves it. I received a larger pack today in the mail. I'm sold. And so are my husband and son. I thought it would be hard to change the way we do laundry but it was so easy.
