Brought one of these cossies back to Australia but had to sell it during a divorce settlement. I only owned it for 3 years and had only one point left on my licence due to speeding. Gave the cops a run for their money . Brilliant handling car and miss it so much !

The RS Cosworth has been a dream of mine since I read a write up in Card and Driver in the late 1980s.

20yrs ago I owned a ford siera 2.0 it wasn’t even a cosworth but man the Fun I’ve had drifting with that car! Even owned a escort xr3i and a Scorpio 2.9L. The oil leaks and humidity inside the interior couldn’t spoil the Fun I’ve had with these retro cars. I drove the Scorpio from holland to Morocco and back, I remember the drifting we did on the sandy Moroccan roads we totally drove it like a rally car even in the mountain roads near Madrid spain and the Scorpio brought us home without any failures.

never owned an m3 or cossy but have owned a jelly mold sierra and 320 cd.... i have to say balance on the bm is perfect.
I have an E36 328i but losing to a Cossie is not a bad thing. Both cars are the best cars that you can ever get hold of. Very, very, very few of either around now sadly. True hot hatches (i.e. RWD) are nonexistent now so enjoy them while you can. I know my Bimmer is on borrowed time and it's the one and only E36 in the north of Scotland and I'll never have a car like that again and that is really, really sad. I've had a Focus ST250, the E36 and a company S-Class which is so dull that it makes my sink look lively.

Not to mention the prestigious Spa 24 hour and Bathurst 1000 races. Pure racing pedigree.

This car is incredible! It was entirely undefeated in professional racing until the Nissan Skyline GT-R came around. Either way, the Cosworth is still awesome!
Rules. Rules are what it took to beat this car. Sanctioning bodies don't seem to like it when Ford's win, so they change the rules to burden it to losing status or legislate it out of competition altogether. Many, many times this has happened in my lifetime. I don't watch racing much now, because of it.
Nissan needed a 30% bigger motor, twin turbos and AWD. Not taking anything away from the skyline, great car, but those specs probably belonged in a different class.

See the Problem with that is, the cars become a lot less safe and a lot more difficult to drive. Huge Gust of Boost will also wear the engine down over time... 😙

As a teen there used to be an Exclusive type second hand garage nearby by me. I would go down and skate in the parking lots as super smooth. The lights staid on at night and among all the exotica from Ferrari, Aston Martin Vantage ( Ok that one was sick) Esprit Turbo they had a Moonstone Blue RS500. That car was mint and a hood price of 16k about 35 years ago. I pleaded my Mum buy that car and she goes out and gets some stinky ass Renault fuck knows what, that was worth a tenner as soon as she drove it out the show room.
Could she afford the ford? Was the renault super cheap?

The thing about the Cosworth is that you never know whats under the bonnet. Although now the price of them has sky rocketed and some demand supercar money to own they were supercar killers for hatchback money not too long ago.
The RS and Cosworth badges were a match made in heaven. What a treat it would be to see it again.

Absolutely gorgeous. Love the cossie sierras. The closet I ever got to one is owning the Merkur xr4ti on this side of the pond. Unfortunately we were never graced with the Cossie. In Fords infinite wisdom they discontinued the xr4ti and never become the car that it could of been. Then they drag their feet through the mud and give you the focus st/rs and nothing here, wait the st first, but nothing like you have there, then they bring the Rs, all wheel drive and 350bhp and torque to match.
Then they discontinue it. Yeah Ford has refined the art of sucking. If that wasn't enough they stop selling cars in favor of SUV'S. Then give you guys an improved Focus ST. Did I say Ford sucks!
