- Today I installed an Eddi, my client wanted to make the most of the excess solar that he produces and divert it into the water tank.

Never knew you could pair the WiFi like that always managed using WPS. The sticker on the front is pointing to the actual tab you need to pull off that can only be seen with the cover off lol.

Great install! It looks like the Eddi is still setup to measure grid as well as Zappi. This might cause some conflict. I think you (if you haven’t already!) will need to toggle off the grid on the internal CT config on Eddi.
Great video Adam. Did you change the parameters for Export Margin and Response Delay on the eddi? I have a recently installed Givenergy AC coupled inverter and found that the eddi responded too quickly to the systems load-balancing where a few watts can flow too and from the grid for a very short period (seconds) so when its exporting eddi thinks its surplus and switches on the immersion heater for a few seconds. I have set mine to 100W and 30 secs as a test.
If you can, please upload a video of Eddi . for heat pump water heater installing.

Hi,
I have a simple grid tied solar installation and a lot of energy is wasted and goes out to the national grid.
If possible I would like to send some of that wasted power to an AC coupled Battery via a myenergi Eddi device.
I spoke to an electrician who said the Eddi is only used for hot water tanks but that’s wrong because it also connects with a Zappi car battery charger.
Would the Eddi be able to send power to an AC battery device??

So the Eddie is primarily used for the hot water tanks, you don’t need an Eddie to divert excess solar to the battery storage, you need a harvi and a CT clamp, that’s it.
Be interesting to see how an Eddi interlocks with an S plan heating system, where it interrupts the power to the DHW valve demand (if that’s the best way to do it!).
Also, can the Harvi be used instead of a hard wired for the grid?
My garage, where my Zappi is , is remote from the house.
Thought I tried it when I first installed , but I thought it needed to be hard wired.
Yes I believe you can use the Harvi for that purpose. As long as both the harvi and Zappi are close enough that they can talk to one another.
@@tom1997williams seems like a long payback if it only provides a top up once there is surplus solar electric. If only heating the water from the grid electric then I can see the potential value.
This may be a dumb question but after you download the firmware update do you not need to install it?

How does this eddie know that you have reached max temperature?
Presumably it has a ct on the immersion feed and sees no current flow when it applies volts to the immersion
Smart money is octopus intelligent go, charge everything you can at night 7.5p kWh and then export everything during the day at 15p kWh, living off the battery when there isn’t much solar (after charging it at night) surely?
Yes that’s perfect if your on octopus, using the solar to heat the tank is still a good idea.
Export price of electricity is always over the price of gas so the eddi is pointless.
Unless you are locked into the older prices most electrical supply companies only give a few pence per kw

@@Swwilsfrom what I understand if you had solar installed 10ish years ago you would get payed 20p a kw that you export and you where almost locked into the price for it but now you can’t get that anymore

I’m on FIT (feed in tariff) so I get paid for a rate for export and a rate for assumed export of 50% regardless of what I use / export.
