I remeber when you could buy it no questions asked in kg quantities. The real reason for the crackdown on it is that it can be used to make reasonably pure monomethylamine
Urotropine may release formaldehyde, but wax releases carbon black fumes, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide. You would not want to expose food directly to the fumes of either. Metal or glass would be better to protect from fumes.
@@MolecularPlayground formaldehyde fumes are has a signifant amount of toxicity more than that of CO. CO's lethal ppm is eight hundred and you'll be dead within an hour and formaldehyde is just wo hundred ppm. Yes, it's best to protect the food.
I am not negating its toxicity, but that is only important if you are burning it indoors or huge quantities outdoors (I’m talking kilograms and heaps). That is also why it is sold in piecemeal quantities. But of course, you’re right to not breath in the fumes,
@@MolecularPlayground mhm! Also, can you do a video about extraction of urotropine from coghlan fuel tablets? It'll be great! And regarding that you have already made a video on making hexamine, the people that take interest in high energetics can certainly use that information. Of course, not for illegal purposes! 👍
@@MolecularPlaygroundmay as well. There are some terrifying theoretical posts on sciencemadness about nitrating TATP, why not try it with HMTD? Lol, don’t do that.
6% will work, but you will have to use double the amount. Your diluted hydrogen peroxide may also moderately impact yield. Also I think you replied on the wrong video 😂
@@MolecularPlayground wassap . My bad i was just wondering 😂😂 i know but ive wanted to ask cuse i tried once then i quite loss interes in it then i watched your video
I used 29% ammonia and 37% formaldehyde. These are solutions with water in them. Hexamine is very soluble in water, so it will not instantly precipitate. Water has to be boiled off because the solutions contain 71% water and 63% water, respectively. Not to mention there is a brief boil when I mix the two. I am not sure how I can fake that by mixing two bottles of water. I hope that clarifies things and don’t forget to subscribe!
@@MolecularPlayground You cut out the part from going from the liquid to the powdered form. It just look liked you faked it, by replacing the liquid with purchased powdered product. When you do an experiment don't skip steps on the video. Show start to finish.
I suppose I could have showed the sludge form, but in the end it was just an evaporation. You did not miss anything super crucial. Also, purchased powder has a clean white to off white appearance. The powder I have is slightly mottled/burned because I evaporated with heat not by vacuum. And the synthesis still works because it can sustain a fire and boil water.
Awesome video man! Could you perhaps make a video on how YOU make your cord fuses or fuses in general? I'm struggling a bit using Sugar and KNO3 and even soaking the wick in black powder. I would greatly appreciate if you would. If you need I can pitch in if you need some cash for the materials. Thanks bud

A much better and more efficient way for that is combining formaldehyde and ammonium chloride.
Titanium cube is the most delicious hands down.
I prefer some hot solder to dip my titanium cubes and sausage in 😅
burning urotropine releases formaldehyde fumes. I wouldn't use it if I were to go on a camp. Maybe some wax will just work as well!

Should we be expecting it to have a run in with peroxide or nitric acid soon?
Why not both?

Citric acid works too😉
Bro your a legend but i have a question. Now in the acetone peroxide my hydrogen peroxide is thick its 6% will it work?

Too bad it was faked. No way does it go from liquid to dry powder.

If you’re in the US you can buy visco fuse from outdoor stores and sites like skylighter and pyrochemsource.
Yo, whats up with the Ti cube? Is that some kind of pet or something? 😅
It’s been with me for five years so absolutely 🤣
