I love your face when you realized what the song is about. That was my reaction, even though I cried. When I was in school I had a friend who was sexually and physically abused by her father and even though we are no longer friends I still love her and hope she is okay.
In all the reactions I had seen to this song no one stopped at the phrase about civility and that's why this is my favorite
that's heartbreaking
Her neighborhood friend had an abusive Father and Taylor was her escape. This song is devastating...
Finally someone talking about that bridge. I cried so hard when it hit me what this song is about. Side note, I think you’re very cute.
Mirrorball is kinda about her reinventing herself throughout the years to keep us the fans keep entertained! She is been trying everything to keep us looking at her, thats one take! Or else it also can mean about a relationship... seven is about a childhood friend.
The diversity she put in this album really makes it special. Her past albums were mostly filled with love songs or breakup songs....but this time she used her storytelling abilities to the fullest. And the result is a phenomenal album 😭
I love that you pay such close attention to the lyrics!!! I feel like anyone who appreciates lyrics appreciates Taylor Swift.
After you finish Folklore you should do a reaction to All Too Well from her Red album. You’d probably really enjoy it!
Thanks for another awesome reaction video. 🙌🏻
I agree with you! And thank you! 🙏🏽
I love watching peoples faces drop when they get to that particular lyric.
AHHHHH YOU DID MY FAVE SONGGG
Love the rx! This is, whether it’s Taylor or not, an adult looking back at age 7 and their best friend. Taylor is from Pennsylvania and didnt move to Nashville until 14, this song is at age 7. Her friend at age 7. A 7 yr old doesn’t understand what’s happening. An adult Taylor looking back knows what was going on, her friend was in an abusive home, her dad was always mad, abusive, she would cry. So a 7 yr old thinks Hey bestie come and live with me and you won’t have to cry. But the adult looking back, singing the song, wonders why she didn’t do anything to help this friend who she loved. And the answer is because she was 7, she couldn’t do anything or understand it at the time. She was too young to understand, but an adult understands. But the massage is, like a folk song, our love and friendship at age 7 will last forever. Even if we no longer remember each other’s face. Our love will last and will be carried on. It’s a very sweet but sad song.
When anyone gives Taylor a true listen, they understand. 💗✌🏼
Seven is my favourite off folklore🤗
This is so beautiful! I love the shock your face took on when she began singing about how she thought her friends house was haunted, because as I've come to realize with the timing of your song, how this song implicates the wounds we have yet to heal and the scarred, inner child!
The narrative of this song is quite simple, and the style of her musicality here is quaint. It touches on how feeble and fragile our youth is, but the reason why I brought up the timing of this reaction is because I'm into Astrology, and the current lunar transit is all about empowerment, that is, the moon is in Aries, and is asking us to reclaim our identity through our emotions!
In the celestial wheel, the moon and Saturn are the rulers of oppositional houses, namely the 4th and the 10th house. The 4th is where Cancer resides in, and is the area of home, family, roots, and a where we learn a deep sense of worth. The 10th is Capricorn's domain, and is known as the midheaven, and has to do with our public imagge, how we are perceived by others as per our aspirations and how we achieve!
And her line, "Love you to the moon and to Saturn," is telling me that something bridges her love of this friend from her childhood; something connects her to them despite the time and distance between them! She sees and accepts them as they are from their humble roots, just as she loves them for all that they become and that give to the world.
Why is this necessary as a reflection for the current transits? Because this song touches on our self-talk. We don't know if this comes from Taylor's person, being addressed to someone else, as the song would suggest, given that folk songs are never about the identity of the writer themselves. Folk music traverses time because the personhood of the music is ambiguous- the experiences can be owned by whoever they are handed down to.
And it matters to everyone because we all learn from an early age how to talk to ourselves- we carry this self-talk with us as we age! We learn this voice from our upbringing, the adult voice that has had a hand in our formation.
The full moon in Aries symbolizes ownership of emotions, and the enaction of the energies that come from within.
Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet of outward and physical action- the divine masculine, concerned with, more or less, work and aggression. The moon is the divine mother, and reflects how we deal with our emotions, internal responses, and intuition- how we "mother" ourselves, or take to emotionally accommodating and nurturing.
How we take to action, how we take initiative, how we express ourselve proactively is the medium that takes us from youth to our maturity! The 10th house, Capricorn, and Saturn, symbolize our admission to a meaningful life. Saturn is known as a malefic force in Astrology, but he is Cronos- Father Time. Saturn is the planet of limitations, restriction, contraction, and effort. Symbollically, what we make of our time and of ourselves becomes our commitment to this life! We become known for what we put our effort and channel our drive into!
Thank you for being the messenger to convey these realizations to me! I know I've had it, but you were the spark that pushed me into acknowledging all these exist in my mind!
I hope you will listen and react to her old stuffs as well. She is an album artist. You might not have liked the singles but i can tell you that her non single tracks are gems. You will not regret. And another amazing reaction. ❤
omg!!! next is 'this is me trying' 😳🙃
The 1 disklike is from the father who always gets mad
Big jump here but are you planning to react to her other albums? Just curious! I would definitely watch every single video you put up. She's my favorite. Ever.
I might take a break from reacting to whole albums, but I’ll react to whatever people suggest 👍🏽
I loved this video and I'm really enjoying your reactions. I love how you pick up on Taylor's subtleties and the way she threads tons of meaning through very simple lines. I didn't comment on your Mirrorball reaction because you mostly got it in the video. I think it's not just about fame though-it's about having a relationship that feels performative. She has to act and be all these things to still matter to the person she's singing to.
The mirrorball/disco ball metaphor works in a number of ways-she's reflective, showing you every version of yourself, like how her discography has songs that fit every single situation, or possibly how she sees her role in some relationships; she's eminently breakable and when she breaks people watch to see her "shattered edges glisten", like the media or the other spectators in her life; and "she can change everything about herself to fit in", keeping her own self out of the main attention and just keeping what she thinks others want to see.
The bridge is one of my favourite moments on Folklore. She knows this is her role and despite the fact she's clearly been very good at it for a very long time, it doesn't feel natural and she's always working to reinvent herself. Her job is to be eternally and performatively vulnerable so others feel good about themselves or think she has value. There's a really heartbreaking cost to that.
“She does keep the lines simple for you to get”. Listens to “The Lakes” - brings out dictionary - “Wait What”
Well now I’m worried lol 😬

Mi favorita del album folklore❤❤❤
Me encanta cuando se analiza cada canción, sin duda este disco es superior
folklore es el mejor álbum d todos los q hizo taylor
Please, this is me trying next 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Great song❤️❤️❤️
😊🎸🎶🎵
The structure for this one is odd and very non conformist. It's a new structure for her too since this is the 1st one like this in her discography.
7 months later but I love that you said this. I love the music on this song because it has a childlike feeling to it, which matches the lyrics really well. I think it’s the structure that gives it that. It’s sort of nonconforming like you said, and it reflects the childhood/nostalgic feeling of this song. When there weren’t rules. You could scream whenever you wanted like Taylor said in the song. Swing, run in the leaves whenever, but then we learn civility. We confirm. Knowing Taylor she did this on purpose. She’s good Lol. One of my favorite songs.
dang you really nailed it not even halfway to the song 😅
Are you gonna react to lover album too?
I might take a break from reacting to a whole album for a bit😅 but I’ll do songs that people suggest 👍🏽
You're cute.
