Fun fact: there was a Paisley Strat made. It was offered to me in 1982, along with a Strat in Lucite. Both are one of one.
Really? What color was it? That’s super cool
@@thezakkuhnshow It was the regular pink color.
Great interview, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching!
Really Great Story !!!! I love that Blue !!!!!! Thanks ,You guys !!!!
Thanks for watching George! I’m pumped you got to check it out!
Now that’s a good interview.
Thanks for watching Greg! Pumped you got to check it out!
It would be criminal if Bill Crook doesn't make this type of '67 Paisley wall paper. Please, I'll pay the full $4500+ to get a Crook Paisley in this color, because I would never trust myself with an original '67, nor would I pay that un-Godly price for an original. Beautiful guitar, and a great interview!
Thanks for watching! That paisley finish is so cool looking! I hope they do something with it! Who should we get on the show next?
@@thezakkuhnshow I'd like to see either Marcus King, Zach Bryan, or Zach Top on the show.
I'm more of a BP and John Mayer fan and type guitarist, but Marcus King is my third favorite triple-threat guitarist from our era. Every time he plays "Goodbye Carolina", he plays his solo in a very special and unique way that's obviously southern blues, but it's such an intricate and technical way that makes others have to think, yet it's so natural to him. And he's singing and writing that song from the perspective of his friend who he lost to suicide, which is the alternate theme of this song along with lost love and heartbreak.
Zach Bryan is the first artist in a long time where I've genuinely been eager to listen to the stuff he's releasing who's also pretty mainstream. Brad Paisley was one of my favorites (still my favorite guitarist), but he's receded in popularity. Jason Isbell, Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Colter Wall, and John Moreland are amazing and lyrical geniuses, but you'd have to look for them because Nashville for a long time refused to release or air guys like them. But ZLB, he's both mainstream and growing, and he's coming from a scene that's outside of Nashville. I was hooked when I heard "68 Fastback" as a little private in MCT Camp Pendleton last year, and his music has gotten me through some tough times. The way how he writes and sings, it's lo-fi, yet so relatable. He's the first artist in a long time who has made sorrow and youth and Mama and home something worth singing about, instead of just muddy trucks and beer and one-night-stands with a girl in some cut-off jeans (though he's lacking in pedal steel, though he has plenty of fiddle). He's amazing, and as a Marine it'd be cool to see what this sailor has to write and release in the near future.
And Zach Top, I haven't heard someone that sounds as good and traditional as him. The closest mainstream guys I've heard that are traditionalists from the 2010s are guys like CoJo, Jon Pardi, Aaron Watson, and Midland. And then Zach comes around, and it's like he's a rebirth of Alan and King George. He's so good, that even "Cold Beer and Country Music" as cliche as it sounds, still sounds more genuine and authentic than whatever is released on what Grady Smith would call the "Kendall Line" on music row in Nashville. And "The Sun" is just beautiful, such a pleasing and romantic song. Plus, he's not bad at picking, he's one of the few artists today that can handle and use a Brent Mason signature.
Any of those guys, I feel would be some great interviews to have featured on the show. Can't wait to see what you have coming up next!
Great discussion. Always wanted the black paisley version. Never would've worked on old TV though. Everything works on the Gram now.
Thanks for watching brother! A black paisley would be killer!
I was speaking to Norm Harris many years ago & he mentioned that he'd sold a black Paisley Telecaster to someone in New York.
Dude Norm would know! That’s crazy!
The splash camo one is fire 🔥
I love that one!!! How many times have you seen Brad live?
@@thezakkuhnshow 4 times I believe my favorite country artist
Brad purchased a Train Wreck head that I sold back to Ken Fischer and it was sold to close mutual friend Bernie that passed away. There were 2 heads. 1 Brad purchased and the other one went to a collector in Japan. The head Brad purchased blew up a couple months later.
Wow that’s a crazy story. Why did you sell it?
@@thezakkuhnshow : Cause I was young and stupid! I was very fortunate to work or should I say learn from Kenny and also Dennis Kager from Sundown amps. I spent almost my entire life in the music industry working at the original Kramer factory in Neptune,NJ then BC Rich. Had a “Real Book” AKA Fake Book distribution for for a few years and got to work closely and become personal friends with tons of famous people. Myself and Joe Naylor later owner and operator of Reverand Guitars was my roommate at Luthier school so I had a blast and made big money and spent it! Anyways both those Train Wreck’s got sold through Hoboken Vintage Guitar shop in Hoboken,NJ through my good friend Jimmy Pasch who was the previous owner of Outlaw Guitars in Greenbrook, NJ and sadly both shops are no longer around. When CD’s came around and later Internet crap then it was time to move on. Both Ken Fischer and Dennis Kager have sadly now passed away so things have drastically changed and not for the for the better.
@@thezakkuhnshow : Because I was young and stupid! I was very fortunate to work with Ken Fischer early on as well as Dennis Kager from Sundown amps. At the time I had a huge “Fake Book” AKA Real Book distribution and just buying up gear as a teenager. Later I went to Luthier school and my roommate was Joe Naylor who later became owner/operator of Reverand Guitars. I then went to work at the original Kramer factory in Neptune,NJ then BC Rich but always loved the amp business more. I got to work and become personal friends with some of the most famous musicians ever and even traded or purchased gear from some. I purchased that head from Kenny for $1250.00 and when I sold it back to him it was a trade for 2 early Traynor YBA-1 heads that Kenny had modified. When Bernie passed away a close mutual friend name Jimmy Pasch who had Outlaw Guitars in Greenbrook,NJ and then Hoboken Vintage in Hoboken,NJ purchased both heads from the estate. That’s how Brad got one and a guy in Japan from what I know later got the other. Once CD’s came out and the Internet happened, the decline of the music business was evident and so I moved on. I had Shamrock Amps for a while and still repair amps maybe 10X a year selectively but it’s in no way the fun it was or the money generator it was. I will say this, the story’s from the early NAMM shows are wild, the factory days were absolutely crazy!
@@thezakkuhnshow : Young and not knowing any better at the time. It was more of a trade back to Kenny. He gave me 2 modified early Traynor YBA-1 heads. Then I was hooked on the amp side of things but went to Luthier school anyways. My roommate ended up being Joe Naylor who later became owner/operator of Reverand Guitars. Came back and went to work at the original Kramer factory in Neptune,NJ then went to BC Rich in NJ. Still had an extensive Real Book AKA Fake Book distribution then until 1991?
All our wives are "So done with this." Exact same words lol
haha!
At least Brad can come back with “yeah it might be annoying, but that pink one bought our house, that blue one bought your car and the butterscotch one put the kid through college.” The rest of us are screwed at the end of that conversation 😂😂😂😂😂
Hey Brad please try a Yngwie Malmsteen Strat - It would be cool to hear Country music on it . Great Interview ✨✨🎸✨✨🇺🇸☮️🏆
Thanks for watching! Let’s see if we can get one in his hands! 😂
James Burton said his Paisley was actually wallpaper glued on
Ha! That’s wild!
Sounds like he’s going to bring these back with fender! Hopefully as an American vintage and hopefully I’m the first one to own that! Hah
👀👀
Believe it or not there is also an original black paisley telecaster prototype that was made at the same time as this blue paisley guitar.
That would be sick! How do you know about it?
Love the color of Brad’s Tele, and especially the fact it doesn’t have the ugly pick-guard most Teles have. James Burton signature Teles were originally paisleys which I prefer over the flame models currently made by Fender.
Great color right? I love it! Thanks for watching this clip!

So because of Elvis, Brad isn’t called Brad Blackguard!
Exactly. Crazy story right?? What a world that would be!
THE LOST PAISLEY?
*gasp*
I know!!!
LMFAO john kuhn from the Packers
😂 that killed me!
If there was a guitar with my name, you bet I’d play it
1000%! 😂
My surname's Gibson and I have no desire to own or play a Gibson. Give me a Tele any day of the week.
Kling foil - the Frank’s Red Hot of the 1960’s.
Kling foil for everything else you can’t put Frank’s Red Hot on.
Do you know about this material?
Wasn't that red one painted black once..?.. pex
Hmmmm I don’t think so. Maybe?
Guitar Hero.
One of mine as well!
Stupid rare guitar...one of one? If so then I don't understand carving it up and adding a string bender to it.
It's probably made by crook customs not real who knows
Only Brad can get away with that! 😂
Any guitar can be better. If $$ is irrelevant- or let’s say $45,000 to him is like $325 to you- I say “buy the best you can find… and make it better.” Ya know?
Why would anybody listen to Brad. He campaigned for Obama & played with the Dixie Chicks ?. (Lol).
K
He’s yuk
